I will ask the same question you asked the other guy, are you 2?

Have you considered the scenario where he starts along with Rashford? That way the pressure is not on Rashford but on Zlatan who can handle the pressure. Rashford get games with peace of mind and given the time to develop.
Rashford has done brilliant for us, as a no. 9. Whilst I do understand what you're saying in the sense start them both etc, that would mean playing two strikers, which hardly any team does now, plus keeping martial out on the wing.

So if both start, and playing the 4231 system mou likes, that would mean one of them starting as a no. 10, which doesn't suit either. Let's not start playing players out of position just to fit them in the team, we've seen far too many times how often that fails.

I'd say sign ibra but I don't think we'll be seeing him and Rashford play together too often.

A front 3 of Ibra, Rashford and Martial will be very good in my opinion. both Martial and Rashford are capable of making runs in the centre when Ibra goes deep and our fullbacks will provide width.
Another interesting bit is that all 3 are good at creating chances.

If Zlatan comes i wish Mourinho would opt for 4-3-3. That's not going to happen though as it would require over-lapping fullbacks. Add to that central midfielders that make runs to benefit from Zlatan's passing and nah, i can't see it. Even though we played better with the 4-3-3 i still think 4-2-3-1 suits the squad we have more. Simply because we have more holding midfielders rather than dynamic ones and the fact our fullbacks aren't great in attack (not even Shaw, he has a lot of work to be done re end product; crossing and providing a threat inside oppositions box).

The big man is a false 9 these days, he needs the room to drop into. It'll probably be 4-2-3-1 so i hope the 10 is more of a striker rather than a creator to enable Zlatan the room to operate in. Griezmann will do. Add a creative right-winger and our attack looks amazing. Mahrez would be nice.

Muppet mid/attack:

---------------- Zlatan ----------------
Martial ----- Griezmann ----- Mahrez
------ Schneiderlin - Pogba ----------

If not Pogba then Kanté will suffice. Let's buy Leicester!

1) Mourinho doesn't have a system, he works with whatever is on ground

2) They can all play in a front 3.

3) Ibra will not start all games for obvious reasons

That said, everyone keep saying we need a striker, so what exactly do you guys want?

This is not about how good he is for me. I still rate him highly but I'd rather watch him from afar.
If United sign a higuain or Pierre its competition and if they can't displace them it'll mean, they are not progressing.
With Zlatan its just another Rooney situation(ability ignored) and the youngsters will be feeding off the crumbs.

I genuinely have no idea what your point is here. That United should sign a worse striker than Zlatan so Rashford has more chance of playing?

Yeah. According to him, Zlatan won't be displaced which will mean Rashford will miss out. It's all a bit fuzzy for me. It's like Rashford's development is the new buzzword which is under extreme danger due to God knows what. On the other hand we need attacking reinforcement as well. The lad is 18 after playing 1/3rd of a season. I am sure Jose isn't stupid enough to think on the same lines.

That's similar what I put earlier but I wanted to buy Mane (pace to burn and can play anywhere in that front 4) as well (sell Lingard and Mata) and swap Schneiderlin with Rooney.
So shopping list in order would be;
Griezman £65m
Zlatan free
Mane £30m
Mahrez £40m
Centre half £30m
Pogba £80m

£250m give or take (full muppet mode)
All achievable apart from Pogba perhaps.

A lot of money but try sell Mata Herrera Fellaini Rojo Darmain Young Lingard to help balance the books.

It's so obvious that I don't think you'd be asking if it was a different player.

I have seriously no idea why international games should be ignored when judging the overall skill of a player. I find it absurd to say the least.

So no it's not obvious at all and I would love to hear why you think it is.

Mane behind could work. I'm ignoring Rooney :wenger:. I really hope Schneiderlin can show us the player we bought next season.

You would opt for Rooney? In midfield no less! Incredible.

Darmian--Smalling--Stones--Shaw

--Rashford--Ibrahimovic--Martial

Why would anyone want to sell Lingard, he is a decent squad player and a United product. Can't understand this. And he scored the winner for our first title since 3 years.

Ibra is the perfect fit and that's why:

- is free
- is entertaining with huge marketing value, so will pay his wage with his name.
- brings some balls in the dressing room
- won't stand in the way of our young strikers since he will be only 2 seasons here, time for them to learn from him. Another big name who is younger could hinder them and stand in their way tbh, Ibra not since he is 35. And we have enough games to rotate.
- Would be amazing to win against City and Pep with him and Mou
- Will guarantee a league title. Maybe no cl but how funny would it be, if he stays 2 seasons and win it with us for the first time?

I want him as soon as possible. Is the perfect fit for us.

All this, not to mention he's an absolute beast of a footballer and will strike fear into defences.

Love his style of play. Never saw a player scoring such goals and being so tall. Will be fun to watch. Like Berbatov at times. My brother recommended me to travel to Manchester to attend a game with me. He is no United fan. Ibra will attract even more people to buy stuff from us.

Yep when we are playing the Stoke WBA Hull and Crystal palaces of this world at OT I've seen enough of Rooney to think he will do well in that position. Just my opinion.

The point here is the manager in charge is a man that has won many trophies in different countries, he obviously know what he's doing.

Is it? we can go on the meltdowns mourinho has had, like his final few months at chelsea. VG has won plenty in his time, did that stop everyone telling him how badly he managed united. How about fergie? by letting the squad regress between 2009-12, the selling of jaap stam, fergie has won it all, but how many said he needed to strengthen the midfield. These managers may have won loads, but there will be question marks lingering when there is head scratching decisions they make, Jose has not made any yet, and we will see, but I would be worried if he starts playing carrick, rooney and zlaten in the same starting 11

We could also add the following points:

+ It is necessary to introduce more competition. For instance, Rooney needs to be challenged so I don't see Zlatan as his enemy but rather as a fair partner.
+ The club would extend his fans base by recruiting one of the top 50 CF of All-Time.

Yeah, agree with that. I don't think Rooney will be in a strop with Ibra joining. They will respect each other. Ibra likes strong guys and Rooney is one. When we are lucky we will get to see the best of Rooney again, with Mou and Ibra pushing him. Would love that.

Cos it's fun to buy new players and old players are boring.

Let's turn down one of the best forwards in world football and gamble our whole season on an 18 year old kid. Yeah, that sounds like a great plan!

Are people seriously seeing this as a bad transfer?

Mental. Fergie would have never put so much pressure on an 18 year old.

Even when we signed Rooney (who was undoubtably a much bigger and more established talent) we had Van Nistelrooy, Saha and Smith in the squad.

Not signing a senior striker would be lunacy. Luckily we have a very capable manager that will already know this.

Would be a perfect way to ruin Rashford and do what Liverpool did with Owen by playing him all the time, or what could happen with Sterling.
Fergie was amazing with younger players, he gave Ronaldo 3 weeks holiday in january 2004 in his first season at 18 and really managed him carefully. JM should do the same with Rashford.

Rooney also made 77 appearances for Everton. He had two years head start.

Rashford has done decent. But this isn't Rashford FC like I said previously. We can't just seem to think he is going to score 20-25 goals because not even the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney did that at 18. Rashford for me is not even close to those two when it comes to talent.

Van Gaal refused to sign attackers last summer because he thought Depay would do the business. We'd be foolish to do the same thing with Rashford. Also we shouldn't shoe horn him on the right wing. We need a winger also.

Mane is the only one of those named players who I believe is realistic (besides possibly Zlatan on a free). The others will be in demand and Greizmann, Pogba in particular are not happening. If they were to leave their clubs, the likes of PSG, Barca, City etc would be all over them. Also, we're not selling Lingard this summer, I don't think he's good enough but he'll sick around for now.

French league. Guivarch looked good there.
Stéphane Guivarc'h:
L1: 75 goals in 170 games
European competitions: 25 goals in 28 games
L1 has always been a tough league for strikers.

November 2015

The away match against Lorient ended in a 2-1 win, which means three new points for the superior league leader PSG. How would you sum up tonight’s match, your 100th in Ligue 1?
ZLATAN: "We won the match and that’s the most important thing."

74 matches in Eredivisie, 219 in Serie A, 29 in La Liga, and now 100 matches in Ligue 1. Which league do you rate the highest, and what do you think of the French league?
ZLATAN: "It’s hard to compare them, but the French league is not easy."

In which league do you believe you have made your best performance and the biggest impression?
ZLATAN: "All of them."

Now the much-anticipated match against Malmö is just a few days away. What are your thoughts about the match Wednesday night, and stepping out on a sold-out Swedbank Stadion?
ZLATAN: "I have to rest first, then I’ll start thinking about Malmö."

Sounds like 'Zla-tan, Ibra-him-o-vich' to the tune of 'Go West' by the Pet Shop Boys. Although the Inter lads are butchering the melody. I'm sure Old Trafford could do a much better job of it...

...so loving this transfer right now. Can't wait to see Zlatan sat next to Mou signing his contract.

15th May 2015

The feeling.. These celebrations.. How big is this for you?
ZLATAN: "I don't think I can describe it. From when we left the hotel until now.. The day has been special, very special. After four years."

Is this the biggest ever for you?
ZLATAN: "This is top-3, we can say. If we look at the total. This is something I will remember for the rest of my life. All the love I received today, well not just today but all the four years I have been here and the way I have given back. I will never forget this and it's something I will miss."

You seem so relaxed in your joy and also on the pitch after the goals.
ZLATAN: "I try to collect all energy and love I have received and stay in control. It hasn't been easy today. It's been... Well, not a hard day but it hasn't been easy controlling the emotions."

I met you at home in Malmö when you were a teenager and you sat and played video games and dreamed of playing with Ronaldo (El Fenomeno) in the attack. Now you are collecting your career, did it turn out the way you dreamed if you were to compare with your dreams?
ZLATAN: "It turned out even better. Even better and much more so I'm trying just to enjoy it. Enjoy every second and every minute and just collect it all. I will understand it better and enjoy it more afterwards when I've understood the whole picture."

Does anything remain or have you achieved everything?
ZLATAN: "I hope something remains or I would have to quit."

Are you thinking about Euro?
ZLATAN: "Absolutely. That's one of the adventures I look forward to."

What does it mean to you that EURO is played in France?
ZLATAN: "It means alot. After the ending like today, and we have one more game next week. What I've done for France.. To first come home (to Sweden) and then back here with my country to play means everything. We have supporters from France and Sweden now so we shouldn't complain about that."

Can you maintain your superform that long?
ZLATAN: "I just have to keep playing and enjoy my time on the pitch."

Is it only joy?
ZLATAN: "Joy and love."

It was a very nice moment when your sons entered the pitch. Were you prepared for their entrance?
ZLATAN: "Both no and yes. I knew some things were gonna happen during the game but I was only on the pitch to enjoy myself. Today was all about enjoyment and to collect all the love I received and give back, which I have done for four years. It feels amazing."

It was a bit emotional when you picked up them and walked off?
ZLATAN: "It was very emotional, something I will never forget."

How much is grief and how much is joy? How would you say it's divided?
ZLATAN: "I think it's 90 % joy and 10 % grief. I have never experienced and ending like this. I can't describe it. From day one when I came here and what I had to go through.
ZLATAN: "The saddest part is that I'm leaving the team. I have never been part of a group like this even though I've played in the biggest clubs. This was something special. Because those who came in the beginning.. It wasn't like in the clubs they played in before, it was to build up, build up, build up, both on and off the pitch. Four years later we can all recognoze that I made it."
"That was the vision, that's why I came here. It was a big challenge but I dealed with it all."

We're trying to gather this evening emotionally, where do we arrive?
ZLATAN: "Magical, I can't describe it. Everything went like it was supposed to. Exactly everything. From when I woke up to when I left the hotel, on the way in here.. It's indescribable. Best ending I could get. The best. I don't need more than that."

You looked very moved, Zlatan, during certain parts of the ceremony most of all.
ZLATAN: "I was very moved. Speciellt when the kids came in. If Zlatan sheds a tear, it's emotional. And that's what I did when the kids came in."

"King" and "Legend" on the shirts (on the kids), who came up with the idea?
ZLATAN: "It was probably themselves. One of them feels like a king and the other one like a legend. And I am those two things so it was a perfect combination."

You say it's been tough and an exciting project, what has been the hardest?
ZLATAN: "In the beginning. I came from Milan where everything was 100 % and perfect. We played on full stadiums, or wait, well it was also full here, but larger stadiums. And everything from going from a horrible pitch to the best one, well everything, all the small details which I was part of building. It wasn't easy, it was a huge transition. So I can stand here proud and say that I made it. "

Where will the dreams take you now, Zlatan?
ZLATAN: "To Euro. To get to experience Euro in France and just enjoy it. Then afterwards... We'll see."

You said you know where you are going.
ZLATAN: "I know where I'm going."

Is there a signature signed or is it almost there?
ZLATAN: "The future is written."

Now you know his style with the press :)

Guys Zlatan is 34, he's not going to be playing every game next season. Rashford will get his fair share of games.
