Well most players do retire around their mid 30's. Particularly strikers. It's not like there's no reason at all to doubt the legs of a 34 year old striker.
Whilst that's obviously true, I don't see what the fuss is about here. He's not a player who has ever relied on pace, and this season he played 50 odd games so based on available evidence, he's not suffering from any long term niggles that might crop up repeatedly.
He's clearly a bloke who keeps himself in shape. His style suits a player playing on because his strength is a footballing brain, rather than raw pace. And he's just had his most productive season ever which regardless of the level he's playing at, reflects positively on his physical condition.
He is the embodiment of Asagan.

Largely agree. Still, he'd be a massive exception to come here and perform as a 34 year old striker. I don't think there's a comparable example of a striker his age, moving to a speed of football he hasn't played before, in a top league and doing the business. Can't think of one.
So if you think he'll be a success or not it's perfectly reasonable to question his age. It would be odd not to in fact.
I think it's already too late for him, he should have come on a lot more in the last two years than he has done and those years are important. Either he steps up this season or it's curtains for him.
I would be more worried about our captains legs than his.
I don't think there is a category for the career move he's about to make. It would be a first.
Yeah, also he didn't play, at 18, in Premier League like Rooney. Zlatan didn't get over played in his younger days so he's definitely more fit because of that. He can easily keep this level for two more years.
Imagine if we actually signed this guy. Jose and Zlatan at United next season would be unbelievable, never a boring moment. Which considering last season was sleep-inducing, I'm buzzing.

There may not have been, but to be fair to him he's one of the most talented players of his generation so if anyone can do it, he'd be the perfect candidate.
I also think these days, footballers go on much longer given the advances in training and recovery - especially those who seem to have natural athletic ability, of which he seems to be one.
Bottom line for me, he's a top player, it makes commercial sense, he's got a great relationship with the incoming manger (or so it seems) and there's no fee involved so for the club it's largely risk free. Having players like that round the club has to be a positive for the younger lads as well.

We don't have to deal with PSG so this deal really shouldn't take long to wrap up. Even with other positions, let's do the majority of our business early, please. Couldn't care less how it might look.

I think the least we can expect from the signing of Ibra is a similar kind of impact that Larsson had - I remember he seemed to give the entire team a lift at a crucial time in the season.
