Zlatan Ibrahimovic | Rises a day early

What a double Whopper of a debut! amazing! league seem shit but it's lovely to see him like that, hope he recovers fully and get to go to the World Cup.

So when Schweinsteiger scores on his debut the league is shit but when Ibra does it he's an amazing player :p

The league is still poor, although it is still improving. It's not even the best league in North America, which clearly goes to Liga MX. When Giovinco, David Villa, Altidore, Bradley, Wright-Philips, Keane, etc. immediately become top tier players, it's fair to say the league is sub-standard.

Point taken....but David Villa? He was a class act in La Liga. Clearly not in the same category as the rest.

The way he’s left and then immediately been fit to play there has left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. I hope it was us dumping him and not vice versa.

He was fit to play here, if not he would not have played a minute in those 7 games.

It was just evident that he was not and will not ever be ready for top level action again. The MLS will be ideal for him now.

Zlatan couldn’ t dump us, he was under contract.
What quite clearly happened was that he rushed back from injury and never quite felt he got back up to top level pace again. After such an awful injury at 36 years old, it was always extremely hopeful that he’d regain enough form and fitness to play for Manchester United in the Premier League again.

He's fantastic. A better footballer than most of those pure strikers out there. A peak Zlatan at United under Fergie would have taken us to another level.

Typical Zlatan !

Where others would have immediately got that ball under control, turned their back to goal and laid it off, he sticks it in top corner from 40 yards ! Great strike !

I think he would have been be able to play in PL again, if it had been 20 matches left. But now? He would only play 5-10 min here and there and then season would have been over. No point for anybody.

He said it...
Los Angeles welcome to Zlatan!
When has he not delivered?

jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez those two goals were ridiculous, I have a mate living in Los Angele's and he's bandwagoned onto LAFC after being upset with the Galaxy and it obliterated him lol - Just pure Zlatan, my goodness.

That first goal was sickk!

Absolute Legend this guy. Hope America and the whole of LA makes the most of his stay there.

Yes ;)

I'm happy it's worked out for him. I doubted he'd kick another ball professionally after that injury, but he looks like he could play over there in carpet slippers.

Yeah he was only a sub the other day and even said he was very tired.

He's but fit sadly and certainly not fit enough for the PL.

Lewandowski and Zlatan have the same number of CL goals, but Zlatan has 50 games more. If you only judge them as strikers, Lewandowski is clearly better.

Erm ok.

Can you point to me where someone mentioned Lewandowski?

Well @titandn, the same is true for Lewandowski vs. Thierry Henry and Thierry Henry was clearly better.

The moral of this story, goal stats don't tell you everything. Both Henry and Zlatan were better players than the Pole, no doubt about that at all.

He is clearly better at scoring in CL. Nothing else. Zlatan had most assists in CL one year. If you look at stats since 2010 the stats are:

Zlatan:
229 goals + 86 assists in 322 matches

Lewandowski:
224 goals + 44 assists in 330 matches

We can look at earlier stats when Zlatan was top scorer in Italian league, etc, but Lewandowski was not at this level during Zlatan's first 8-10 years as professional player.
Lewandowski is a great player, but I wouldn't say he has had that impact on the team's result as Zlatan has.

A great man. It's a shit league, but who cares. He's an artist. He'll creates works of art whereever he goes. He was here 18 months and we fell in love with him.

Did he actually say in the LA presser that he wanted to join them from PSG but ended up at United?

Zlatan scoring the only goal in the injury time of 1st half, but..

Bastian Schweinsteiger was the top performer again, but he can't do everything himself while playing CB and CM. 100 touches, 72/78 passes, 2 key passes, 5/7 long balls, 1/2 dribbles, 2 fouls won, 6/10 duels won, 7 clearances, 2 interceptions, 7 recoveries.

Scored on his full debut too now. Looks like him & Ashley Cole are gonna love playing together.

Ashley Cole couldn’t even enjoy playing with Cheryl.

It was a poor match but the Galaxy deserved thier narrow win and what can ya say,l?Zlatan takes his chance and gets the winner.

Zlatan has always been fantastic at keeping the ball, but sometimes it looked like a big man playing with small boys. A few more matches and he's ready for Europe again

Thought this photo was funny.
