Zlatan Ibrahimović

Always thought that we're so light on striker department. Signing Ibra is the best thing for United, he's at the right age for experience, make us not overly reliant on Lukaku for the whole season, and give enough time for Rashford/Martial to develop.

Dunno how we fit Ibra and Lukaku in the same team in fairness, and I doubt Ibra signs unless he knows he starting week in week out.

It's an interesting problem, which I'm intrigued to see how Jose deals with.

We perform so good now, i dont want any change. Maybe because Lukaku has no pressure and he plays this way better, knowing he wont be subbed
I like Zlatan, I would not mind him coming on as a Sub or Starter for cups.

That's not going to happen, Ibra wouldn't sign for a club as a sub or just for cup competitions.

He will have far more options available to him.

Play him and lukaku up top together with mkhi and martial/rashford wide.

There will be plenty of games to rotate him and Lukaku. Having two out and out strikers in a squad is no big problem.

What options would he have? I don't think he could find a team where he's fighting for the biggest titles and is a starter. I think he'd prefer another shot at PL and CL over playing week-in-week-out in Italy or The States.

He's got a big ego but he's not stupid. He knows he's not the player he once was and that he's competing with a monster goalscorer. If he performs better, he'll get the playing time, if not - I don't think he's a guy that would lie to himself.

Yeah, I think the same. Feel like he might think he has unfinished business here as well, as he didn't get to win the league as he has done at every other club.

For six months I think he would/will. United get a top class backup at Ibra gets another shot at the PL title.

Fantastic news. What a beast. I injured my wrist 10 years ago and it's still not fully healed and he gets over an ACL injury in a few months (at 35!).

Maybe I am being deceived by the recent form but I really dont want him back.

Martial and Rashford are enough to cover for Lukaku.

It would be great that attack and those options for the league and Champions League.

Lukaku (Ibrahimovic)
Martial (Rashford) - Mkhitaryan (Mata) - NewRW (Lingard)

Still amazed that in today's market, we managed to grab two of them for only 75m.

Will be good to have him back. Clearly a good influence in the dressing room and the players seem to love him.

Not sure how he will link-up with Lukaku and our attack looks good as a unit so far. If he's happy to be a back-up and if Jose uses him well then it will be great for us.

We're not interested in cover for Lukaku. We're interested in experienced world class players for squad depth as the season wears on and players get injured, suspended, lose form, etc.

Should be the go to team against any opponent except any of big 5. I see good amount of goals in this team.
Ignorant cnuts also need to realize that it's a long season where we have to hit the ground running and keep on performing at the highest level in champions league. Then there are domestic cups too. If anything signing him again takes the pressure off Lukaku and the risk of him being fatigued near the business end of the season. Signing Ibra back is an excellent news, there's no bad news here. I don't know how can you be unhappy with that, ignorant fools.

Don't be silly, seasons don't wear on and those things never happen in football. 11 players is all we need for the whole season, don't see a problem here. Lock the thread.

Given that the whole team was set up to create chances for him, scoring 28 from countless chances wasn't a big deal.

Cavani scored 49 for PSG. And they didn't have a particularly good season.

I've heard it all now, a 35yr old player who scores 28 goals in his debut season -in the most competitive league in the world- apparently still hasn't had a good season.:lol:

So? In Zlatan's final season with PSG he scored 50 goals in 51 matches, a club record. His tally of 38 league goals was also a club record. You're not presenting much of an argument really. You may have fared better by not highlighting the fact that Cavani actually scored less goals for PSG last season than Zlatan had the season before, and then also pointing out that (despite Cavani's 49 goals) PSG have been less successful since Zlatan left. :p

He presumably won't be ready for a couple of months, by which time we will need options. We're doing well at the moment, but there will be lulls during the season.

If true I hope he doesn't harm the harmony and comeradatory that looks like it is there right now. Feel like a lot of players were in aw of him last season and scared.

Players who are in aw of him, I have no problems with. Players that are scared of him, do not have the mentality to be here!

@Mickfoley

-------------Lukaku---------------

Martial--------Zlatan--------Rashford

--------Pogba------Matic-----------

---------------Back 5----------------

I think we could see Zlatan as a 10. Hope so anyway. Has pace all around him, and he has the vision, touch and awareness to create for others without doing a lot of running himself. He would hardly be much less of a goal threat playing deeper either.

It obviously wouldn't be my 'go to' formation for any opponent, but on occasion, it would be pretty formidable and hard to contain.

Replace Mata with Mikhi and then we're talking.

And he missed a shed load of games at the end of the season while starting another scoring streak

Can't wait for him to come back into the squad although technically he's already in the squad getting his fitness and recovering from injury. He is probably having an influence on the players right now. He could be brought on later in some games to play just off Lukaku. He dropped deep a lot last season so it won't hurt us. He could also start cup games etc. It's a positive having him in the team again and he "could" be a huge part in us maybe getting the premier league back again.

Think it'd be Mata who makes way out of the current starting 11 for Ibra. Think in a couple of months time, we could be lining up something like this;

Dave
Valencia - Bailly - Jones - Shaw
Mkhi - Matic - Pogba - Martial
Lukaku - Ibra

Good news, when is he available? Might come useful around xmas time as a lot of games start happening also need to remember a lot of our players will play for national teams too so hopefully no injuries get picked up.
