Zlatan Ibrahimović

I hope jose doesn't make it an obligation of starting zlatan just to please him. If zlatan is ready to play a back up role then I am all for it. He is a strong personality to have in the dressing room. I am sure players will love to have him back. He is a great motivator that's for sure.

When the CL comes around we will need to rotate our team. We can't play Lukaku every game. No brainer for me to bring Zlatan back.

Our new number 10?

We have better choices at every position Ibra plays in. Sort of a head scratcher for me to re-sign him, only because I don't think he'll be happy with a squad role, which is the only place he fits in this years team.

Maybe he's ok with that coming off injury and only playing half a season before he heads off for MLS or something.

Except the group stages, where we'd be doing most of the rotating, will be finished before he's back!

Would be fantastic news. I hope he isn't our main starter though.

Yeah but if Lukaku gets injured we're screwed. Zlatan will be excellent backup to have.

If he is happy in that role then it would be a fantastic bit of business. No brainer to sign him.

I'm just a bit worried that it would be like last season where Mourinho always starts him, never subs him etc.

If played as a lone striker yes, but if you think Zlatan has always played as a target man and that's all he is then you haven't followed his career at all. Hell, even last season as a lone striker he spent half his time in CM.

Yes, his dropping down to link-up works well, considering his vision and distribution. And if we play quicker around him, which we seem to be doing so far, he'll actually head towards the box quicker. Which on a side note isn't only about pace, just take a look at Troy Deeney, he gets to the box pretty darn fast…

Zlatan will be great for same games as a lone striker and in others as part of a striker duo. And some games he probably won't play at all. If his minutes are managed carefully he'll have an impact this season as well, perhaps an even better one if the other players are performing well too, provided he can hit his form again.

When we're playing two games a week - and/or when we are looking to rotate - we wouldn't have to have Zlatan furthest forward. We've options with Pereira, Martial etc. It's obviously good news. I don't think we were overawed by him last season. I just think we were imbalanced and having him returning to a better team will be great. He never played with an inform Martial and though Rashford showed glimpses - he's not quite ready. The end product tells us that. The 28 goals last season was a sure enough reason why United were not going to let Zlatan leave.

No we wouldn't. Best chance to win those clubs are in two legs setup.

Under dog team rarely won in the final.
Well... Inter Bayern, Liverpool Acmilan, Chelsea Bayern, Porto Monaco. That's the four that i remember, and i don't see a reason why we won't be able to beat a better team in a final. IMO its easier to win a single game than to win over two games.

Great news if true. Along with quality option he will offer on pitch, his presence in dressing room will also be key factor as season progresses.

I thought he choose us for the money though. That's what some people have told me in the Zlatan 2016/17 thread. I guess China and LA didn't offer him much then.

To recover from that injury so quickly at his age is incredible.

It's not incredible. Anyone can recover this quickly, they always feel good to play with after a few months, but history shows you have to take it slowly or you will injure it again.

It'd be great to him back, cause...you know, he's Zlatan fecking Ibrahimovic, but I'm not sure where he'd fit into the team right now. Not sure he's the type of player who'll want to be on the bench, playing a bit part role.

Are we? Martial and Rashford would ideally be able to fill in competently. Granted, neither are anywhere near Zlatan or Lukaku. Only problem may be whether Zlatan's at all interested in being backup, though.

Anyone who doesn´t want him back should go see a doctor.

Exactly there's his goals his link up play and above all else he is a winner and a huge personality which is priceless for any team striving to challenge .

Rotation is just as important in the knock out stages depending on how far we advance. Zlatan might actually be the better option for those games anyway.

It's not like he's cover for Lukaku. He's just as good and offers a different dimension to our play.

What say Simon Stone? I always wait for BBC to confirm. When Stone writes, it's done.

Be awesome to have him coming off the bench and as occasional starter. Be a much better fit in this squad as we are stronger all round. He won't be a hindrance this season in terms of overall objective.

Two good games at the start of the season shouldn't cloud our minds in thinking everything is rosy.

United finished 6th last season, and they need every bit of help they can get to challenge for the league this year.

Having Zlatan back in the squad to come on and take the burden off Lakaku will be fecking amazing!!!!!

Plus once the games start coming twice a week we can't expect to play the same starting eleven every week.

Highlight were won by underdog teams. 2 examples out of many is exactly my point.

2 legs setup is more tricky than a final if you ask me. Technically you don't have to win any game over two legs to advance , 1-1 and 0-0 would do it.

20 minutes to go and Jose looks to the bench to see out/win a match, 'Zlatan warm up and scare the shit out of the opposition', 'am I going on boss?, no, just scare the shit out of them, the horses will do the rest'
