I hope Oguchi "Gooch" is in the squad. The guy is just a beast... 22 years old, 6'3, 210 lbs, good speed, good ball control, good vision for a central defender. They even move him to forward when they need offense. Apparently they bought him out from Metz for next to nothing. But the roster hasn't been released yet.
Gooch came and got his first cap in our last match and had his header headed into the net only to be redirected by a defender and called an own goal.
It's possible our coach Bruce Arena didn't call him in. Qualifying in CONCACAF goes through 3 stages. This is the final game of Stage 2 and the US already has enough points to advance to the final stage. So the game against Jamaica is "meaningless" for the USA - but can be used to give new/young players experience in international matches.
Gooch may be allowed to remain with Standard Liege because he is one of their main players and they can use him as they try to claw their way back up the table. I believe they are still fourth after their win over Anderlecht.
I was wondering about Spector only because he's not likely to see first team action before the Jamaica match on Wednesday. I like this kid... think he has a bright future. But right now, Gooch is better (and 4 years older).

David Jones put the Reds into a 16th minute, following a mix-up in the Newcastle defence, and they were set for victory.
Colin Heath squeezed home the second goal from Kieran Richardson's left wing cross before the break and Giuseppe Rossi claimed the third in the 61st minute.
Paul McShane had a shot blocked on the line and Jones almost claimed a second goal but his shot thumped against an upright.
Newcastle's only worthwhile attempt on goal arrived on the half-hour, but Carl Finnigan pulled his shot wide.

Good news, in the commentary of the last Reserves game, mr. Bowers said that Bardsley would soon be palying again after his injury before the season started.
I saw that Kyle Wallwork was a subsitute in the u-18 game against Man. City..... for City, so he has left us.

Antwerp lost 1-0 to first division Beveren on Saturday night. Antwerp were outclassed by their local rivals, who as usual featured 10 Ivory Coast players. While Antwerp are theoretiaclly MU's feeder club, Beveren have a similar link with Arsenal. One of Beveren's players Emmanuel Eboué (central defender) will join Arsenal during the transfer window. He played on Saturday but was hardly tested. As for United players: Souleymane Mamam played the 90 minutes on the right wing but did not tear up any trees, while Dong came on for the last 20 minutes and (for the first time this season) failed to score. It was a big ask for the Chinese striker who is struggling to regain full fitness after ankle and back injuries.
Next Saturday third-placed Antwerp meet second division league leaders Waregem.

Bit of background. Jean-Marc Guillou runs the show. He has an academy in Africa and he used to send his players to ASEC d’Abidjan. But he fell out with them and has now "taken over" Beveren to use the Ivory Coast players as a shop window. He is a close friend of Wenger. In reality, it's a conveyor belt for players coming from Ivory Coast. They regularly have 10 or 11 Ivory Coast players in the first team. They have already sold Yapi Yapo to Nantes, Yaya Touré (brother of Arsenal's Kolo) and Arsène Né to Metalurg Donetsk (Ukraine). Quite high fees for young players without many international caps - but they are class players. It's all a bit dodgy though as Beveren only see about 10% of fees. Even so, they managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup (runners-up in Belgian Cup).

Manchester United's Under 18's beat rivals Liverpool on Saturday, securing a 2-1 victory away from home.
Colin Gibson got the first for Francisco Filho's young charges on 22 minutes.
Spanish youngster Gerard Pique (pictured) then clinched victory over the Anfield Reds in the second half, scoring in the 78th minute to make it 2-0.
Liverpool grabbed a consolation strike in the last minute of the match through Danny Guthrie, but United had done enough to ensure the Reds returned home with all three points.

GERARD Pique, Manchester United’s 17-year-old central defender, is already being hailed as a star of the future.
And when Sir Alex Ferguson speaks publicly about the Spaniard’s potential he must be special.
Ferguson normally places a protective shield around his young players, but the former Barcelona junior appears to be an exception.
“Gerard has settled in well and we think he has a marvellous chance of making it,” explained Ferguson who recently handed Pique his first-team debut in the Carling Cup victory at Crewe.
Pique came on for the final quarter of the match, replacing John O’Shea in the centre of defence and showing a confidence and maturity beyond his years.
Ferguson explained that the Reds spotted Pique playing for Barcelona in a tournament in Spain. And because of a different transfer system in Spain - young players are not permitted to sign professional contracts - they were able to tempt him to Old Trafford.
Barcelona have evidently not given up hope of luring Pique back to the Nou Camp should things not work out.
Youth coach Fernando Segui was at Altrincham to watch Pique play for the reserves against Sunderland.
It was his second visit of the campaign and he believes Pique, who was in the same Barcelona youth team as Arsenal’s Franesc Fabregas, has the potential to become an even better player than Fernando Hierro, the former Real Madrid and Spain legend.
“I think Pique is a better footballer than Hierro in bringing the ball out of defence,” Segui told me.
Pique arrived quietly this summer along with Guiseppe Rossi, a 17-year-old striker signed from Italian club Parma.
Rossi has also tasted first-team action as he came on as a substitute in the dying minutes of the Carling Cup victory against Crystal Palace.

Gambian striker Arthur Gomez (one of the Manchester three) came off the bench to score Antwerp's winner in the 89th minute against league leaders Waregem. Gomez got a tad excited and removed his shirt, so got a second yellow and was off! Antwerp won 1-0. One point off lead now. Dong started for first time this season, was replaced by Gomez after 75 mins. Mamam played 90 mins, on right midfield. All three acquiited themselves pretty well, good game - good result.

Ruddy has another Man Utd trial
Cambridge's first-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy is having a further trial with Manchester United.
The 18-year-old spent a few days training with the Premiership giants earlier this month and will play for their reserves on Wednesday.
"He's up there for them to have a good look at him," Cambridge's caretaker assistant manager Ricky Duncan told the club's website.
Ruddy was part of England's U-19 squad last week but had to pull out with flu.
