He is only 15/16......and looks like a very good prospect......he is currently captain of Northern Ireland Schools and scored the winning goal against England last week. Although only an under 16 player, he has been playing regularly in our under 18 team. A very competitive midfielder.......I have been impressed with his performances....he still needs to gain a bit of weight and fill out....but he is currently playing obove his age and doesn't look out of place....similar in some ways to Sam Hewson......although I think Corry is a bit more creative....

Hope this helps

btw....if you track back on this thread.....I have written a biography on him...

FYI

I understand that United offered to buy out the remainder of Puustinen's contract as he was not going to make the grade.....however, Jami has refused so he is staying put......thus he is not getting any games!

More info to follow...

So Puustinen and Moran are leaving. I guees that applies to Marsh as well. He isn´t getting many minutes on the pitch. Mostly with the u-18 because of injuries.
Liverpool game tomorrow for the u-18s. If I lived in England I would be there with you Tony for most games, or maybe watching the u-16 to get more info on them! Like this Strickland fellow.
Lets go beat those Libbies!

Ben Amos is only 15 years old but he plays for the England U17? That must prove for quality?

He was on the bench last year in the FA-Youth Cup..

I hope Zieler wont stop the development of Amos..

United under 18's defeated Liverpool 4-0 at Carrington this morning. It was a good morning all round as the under 16's also celebrated a victory, 4-1.

Although Liverpool had most of the first 15 minutes, after Sam Hewson scored two goals in the space of ten minutes it was all over. United scored a third through David Gray before half-time and Liverpool were gone. In the second half, United dominated play and scored a fourth from Fraizer Campbell after good work from Sean Evans. United spurned a number of further chances to score, notably from Gray, Campbell and Fagan. However, on a bright sunny morning.... a 4-0 win over the scousers sent all the United fans home in a happy mood.

Team: Zieler, Lee, Lea, Cathcart, Shawcross, C. Evans, Gray, Hewson, Campbell, S. Evans, Rose Subs: Moran, Fagan (10), Mullan, Puustinen

FYI

I had a long conversation with Gerry Nardiello, Michael's father who was watching Michael play for Liverpool. I asked him directly the reasons for his departure and he resolved a couple of issues. Firstly, Michael was not involved in any incident with his team mates, nor did he leave for more money. Michael was told by the coaching staff that he was second choice behind Febien Brandy and that he was unlikely to get any run-outs in the under 18 team. With Campbell, Burns, Moran, Puustinen and Fagan all ahead of him in the queue, he decided to move to another club. Gerry told me that a number of clubs offered very good deals but he fancied the set up at Liverpool even though the offer was not as good.

Interesting!

the fact that nardiello would be rated behind puustinen and fagan seems a bit far fetched. his dad was probably just trying to protect him. that's my two cents anyhow, but you know a lot more about these things tony. any new info on brandy's injury? he was back on the step-machine a few weeks back, so he can't be too many months away from kicking a ball.....

also; who stood out today? and do have any info on the u16s victory? thanx in advance, tony. you're a real asset to the caf

I think you have to remember that the decision with Nardiello was probably taken in February or March.......Fagan was scoring for fun with Home Farm and the Irish Youth team and had not yet joined United....and although I agree that Puustinen is not United class....clearly at the time the coaches thought he was ahead of Nardiello....

I can see both sides.........and you either have hearsay and rumour......info from the parents.....or you have to make your own mind up......

No new news on Brandy, I was watching the under 18's so can't tell you much about the under 16 victory. Butterfield got one of the goals and Nicky Ojose netted a hat-trick.....he is playing well by the way......

As far as the under 18's is concerned....Sam Hewson had a very good game, Shawcross and Cathcart were very solid at the back, Danny Rose was his usual busy self (he basically runs the team)....and Corry Evans' passing was very good.

Hope this helps

so where did David Gray play, Tony? Upfront or on right wing?

and how many positions can Corey Evans play? I know he can play both as full backs and wingers.

Gray played right wing......I don't think the coaching staff are sure what his best position is at the moment.....when he arrived from Hearts it was as a winger...but he has been tried at fullback and up front leading the attack...

Corry Evans is a midfielder.....but he has been playing out of position for the under 18's as we have so many injuries...

Thanks for the info. Actually a bit surprised that we beated Liverpool that much, they had five points more than us before this game, right?

Btw, who is injured and who has been injured this season? Is Brandy the biggest talent that emerged from the U16 this season?

Injured at the moment

Burns - broken leg
Brandy - broken leg
Eckersley - back
Crockett - broken collar bone
N'Galula - hip

Has been injured this season

Lea - thigh
Adam Eckersley - knee

Can't think of any more at the moment........

As far as talent is concerned.....C. Evans has also impressed as has Cathcart in defence.

corry evans seems like a real talent.

he reminds me little of scholes, not only has the battling qualities but he has nice touchies and is a creative player.

i'm still one of campbells biggest fans. he's just lacking a little strength but soon as he gets that i reckon he'll be better than blake. but that is just my opinion.

What´s up with Chester?
He must be injured!
He last played against Everton 5 games ago.

How did the reserves fare in tonight match against Burton Albion?

Lost 2-1 to a very good Burton side......though must admit United played very poorly as a team......with really only Cathcart coming out of it with any real credit.....to be fair...Burton were very physical and a good side..

Team: Lee, Simpson, Eckersley, Bardsley, Cathcart, Fox, Neumayr, Gibson, Cooper, Rossi, Martin Subs: Marsh (5), Zieler (1), Campbell (9), Gray (10), Hewson (5)

Neumayr scored a great goal near the end from a Bechamesque free kick to bring United back in the game at 2-1....but Burton deserved the win...for many players it is the worst I have seen them play in a long time....

Attendance: 6065

Thanks!
Marsh and Hewson came on for Cathcart and still they lost????
;-)

A bit surprised that Martin was not in. This clearly substantiate something TonyPark said a while ago.

He should have been with the u-19, but weren´t.

United signed a 15-year-old keeper from Cambridge, his name is Gary Woods.

This guy is included in England U16 squad against Scotland on 25th Nov.

Tony Park-

Question for you. I have seen it mentioned on occaision that United have stopped some of their youngsters representing their countries youth teams. For example, we apparently stopped Chris Eagles playing for the England youth teams. Are you aware of this or is it just the papers taking a cheap shot at us?.

FA-Youth Cup:

Birmingham - Manchester United

Ties to be played before 17 December 2005.

Reserves

FYi

United defeated West Brom 4-1 at Hyde tonight. A 671 crowd saw Gary Neville play 60 minutes in a wonderful team performance, as United outclassed WBA in most departments. Goals from Cooper, Rossi and and an og saw United lead 3-0 at the break. Although West Brom pulled a goal back, Markus Neumayr responded after a mix-up in WBA's defence to restore United's three goals advantage.

Team: Howard, Neville, Eckersley, J. Evans, Pique, Fox, Neumayr, R. Jones, Cooper, Rossi, Martin Subs: Simpson (2), T. Lee, Gibson (6), Campbell (9), Marsh

Phil Neville was watching in the stands with his father, and Brian Carey (ex-united) was also in attendance.

No-one really stood out as it was a very good team performance. The first goal scored by Cooper was a wonderful illustration of team play.

Youth Update

FYI

Former Youth players on the move

Kirk Hilton has moved from Altrincham to Ashton Town on a game by game basis
Stephen Rose has moved from Altrincham to Radcliffe Borough on loan where he joins another former United Youth player.....Gary Sampson

United will play Newcastle Town next Thursday, 24th November, in a friendly game. Without knowing all the details, I would assume that this will be an under 18 game to determine the team for the opening FA Youth Cup tie at Birmingham. This game will be played in the next four weeks and no date has been set at this point.

United have a very clear policy of 'limiting' players from representative honours. If a player who is on United's books asks to play for his local school, rep side or for England, United will 'encourage' them not to play. However, if a player insists, then United normally back down as to not piss off the player or the parents....Jonny Evans is a good case....he is very proud of his Irish roots and is keen to play for his country at every opportunity...therefore United let him play.....but with other players......there are haevily discouraged from turning out....I have spoken directly to at least 20 players over the last five years who have told me that they stopped playing local football AND turned down local representative honours because United asked them to.

In relation to Chris Eagles......I don't know the exact situation.....

That guy who scored the own goal for us has a very interesting name: Adrian Manchester

Whatever has happend to Mark Howard? I remember he played quite a few games for the reserves last season, but don't remember him playing in any this season. Was he released?

He got badly injured, so his contract got extended by a year and then he will be released.

Youth Update

United's under 18's defeated West Brom 7-0 this morning. Danny Rose opened the scoring in the 6th minute and Fraizer Campbell doubled the lead two minutes later. A further goal from Campbell after 20 minutes finished the game as a contest and United went in at half-time at three nil up. Sam Hewson then scored twice on 57 & 63 minutes, before Christy Fagan scored his first goal for United with twenty minutes left. Danny Rose then finished the scoring with his second of the match after 78 minutes. (Some people thought Fagan scored the last goal)

United had Aaron Burns make a second half appearance from the bench after breaking his foot earlier in the season. Triallist Michael Barnes also got a run.

Team: Zieler, Gray, Lee, Lea, Cathcart, Rose, Mullan, Hewson, Campbell, Fagan, S. Evans. Subs: Burns (9), Barnes (3), Moran (2), Marsh

More info to follow.....

Do you happen to know where Michael Barnes is from? Would be great if you had a little info on him like for example age, position etc.
