I doubt he would get this far and renew in the last minute.I thought he had a deal with Dortmund to renew already?
He'd be getting mouth-watering signing bonuses from the most elite clubs in a few months.

It's not only money but playing time and future options as well.I doubt he would get this far and renew in the last minute.

Didn't happen. Lots of people expected it to happen after he turned 18, but so far they didn't agree on a new deal and he is considering his optionsI thought he had a deal with Dortmund to renew already?
As good as Moukoko is right now for his age bracket he wouldn't start for most top clubs at this moment.
Weee, its Haaland all over again
The club didn’t follow up on Oles recommendation to sign himOur shot at Haaland was when he was at Molde but we had a manager who didn't like signing young players so that's it
Your point? We’ve identified our January striker option it seemsIsn't that almost the same amount we saved by sacking Ronaldo?

I get what you mean, but Alvarez did get fair amount of games at City:Look at Alvarez at City. Thought he had got his big move, and then they sign Haaland. Alvarez is a quality player, but playing a few times a year when Haaland is rested or injured is not going to be very good for his own career.
My point is that it would be a shrewd way of reallocating those funds.Your point? We’ve identified our January striker option it seems
It seems we have made our choice and it’s WWMy point is that it would be a shrewd way of reallocating those funds.
Fair enough, just seems like Moukoko would be the better signing from where I'm sat.It seems we have made our choice and it’s WW
I didn't realise he'd played quite so much, but it is still less than 1000 minutes (less than 11 full games), a lot of which were in the cups. I think Moukoko could come in the summer and be our Alevarez, learning from someone like Kane and playing regularly in the cups and 20 minute cameos in the league. Weghorst would be a great third option. I'm not convinced Martial is good enough to ever be our first choice striker, and he is probably too good / wouldn't want to sit on the bench. His injury record also make him an unreliable squad option.I get what you mean, but Alvarez did get fair amount of games at City:
22/23: (half season)
8 goals 2 assists in 22 games (around 8 starts)
Perhaps it’s seen that WW pressing and link-up would be more beneficial because we lose that when Martial is out.at least in the short term. Who knows what the summer will bringFair enough, just seems like Moukoko would be the better signing from where I'm sat.
Possibly so, I quite like the Weghorst signing, provided it comes off, just think getting in a talent like Moukoko at the price quoted would be far better business.Perhaps it’s seen that WW pressing and link-up would be more beneficial because we lose that when Martial is out.at least in the short term. I imagine he wants to join somewhere on a free and keep that 20m himself.Possibly so, I quite like the Weghorst signing, provided it comes off, just think getting in a talent like Moukoko at the price quoted would be far better business.
We can't know that if we don't try.I imagine he wants to join somewhere on a free and keep that 20m himself.
Let me guess, Chelsea have signed him.
United board: ".. who?"
Boehly is channelling his inner Football Manager 2023. A transfer strategy devoid of strategy.Chelsea board: Yeah bid for him too, whatever
What you talking about here?
We didn’t sign Haaland due to the ridiculous agent and father fees along with the insistence of a release clause.
I’d love to have Moukoko, but it was never happening this month let’s be honest. And even in the summer we should be aiming higher for the immediate term if we want to continue pushing to improve. Moukoko would likely challenge Martial for a starting spot and rotate, but he’s not quite ready to be leading the line for a top top club week in week out just yet. We should be looking for a top striker if one presents themselves and finances allow, if not then a Moukoko signing in the summer would be our best option,
You do wonder why they would want him on a loan though, looking at their depth chart:
LW — Donny Maalen/Torgen Hazard
ST — Haller / Modeste / Moukoko
RW — Adeyemi / Bynoe Gittens
But given the tight schedule coming up for them too, Elanga would probably play a fair amount of games for them. Noticed that Dortmund has only played one game after the World Cup, we have what 5? Odd.
I don't want to deviate the thread too far away, so this'll be my last message about this.
We should also add Gio Reyna in Dortmund's depth chart. He often plays out wide along with playing in the #10 role. Brandt is similar but frequently plays as a #10. Given that Elanga's game isn't so refined, there's no reason for Dortmund to want to deal with that unless they are developing him for themselves and their medium/long-term goals. A straight-up loan would work if, say, both Bynoe-Gittens and Hazard were unavailable.
Thanks. I guess this thread works if we focus on Moukoko.Moved the conversation here, hope it’s OK!
Good point, forgot Reyna, I also checked some German sites. The general comment from fans was like, ‘Loan Elanga? This makes NO SENSE’.
I am just speculating, but honestly, this seem to be one of those rumors that seems to have some substance — but only makes sense if it were more to it than what is reported.
Dortmund have made a take it or leave it offer for Moukokou. Haller is back for them. Recon Modeste more or less is done. If Moukokou signs with a PL team any day now, they will loose an asset for free.
Will they even want to play Moukokou if he is leaving in June? He hasn’t been a huge contributor for them.
Just hypothetically — if it seemed like Moukokou was going to sign with Newcastle or something and it looked like Dortmund was about to get nothing for him, if I were Dortmund I would love to swap him for Elanga. Elanga can play as a striker or at the wing. Could definitely hit it off in the Bundesliga. He is still really young and a big talent. Normally you have to pay 20-25m for a kid like Elanga, that is a lot of money for Dortmund.
As per some posts above, given the various stories about him, the seeming prevalence of Cameroonian age cheating, and his general rate of development, I reckon any sensible club should be evaluating him on the basis that he could actually be something like 21-24 before considering his potential and whether he's worth signing.
Hey, the Caf had this first!
Seriously though, love the United Stand, and interesting to hear their take on this. Ultimately, I would say that 'there are something there'. The odds for something actually happening is probably at most like 1/20, but...

What is going on between United and Dortmund?
Dortmund are favourites to sign Elanga on loan (why does a loan deal make sense for either party, surely h best for all if it is a permanent deal?)
Reus' agent was just at Old Trafford, but it doesn't really seem like a typical ETH transfer considering he is 33???
Moukoko rumours???
Moukoko for Elanga swap would be great, not sure what to make of the Reus story though...
