Your ideal 11 - 2018/19 and outs (being realistic)

as for someone else saying exactly what i've said, i couldn't be bothered to read 7 pages of lineups. Here to post my realistic view of how we start next season, only to come back in August to realize i've missed the mark as usual

Out: Jones, Carrick, Martial, Pereira, (Shaw)
In: Willian, Dier, (Perisic)

I actually don't think we'll make more changes than that. Huge squad overhauls are rare. I have trouble seeing Mou identifying his 3rd summer window, coinciding with a world cup, as the smart time to execute one. As for rehashing last summers shopping list....

Reasoning:
Jones: because he's too much injured. If he leaves i expect him to be replaced by TFM or Tuanzebe returning from loan.
Carrick: Obviously retired
Martial: Not enough gametime after Sanchez came, wants the move himself. Could make room for a bigger buy than Willian, but i feel that is who Mou wants.
Pereira: Has gotten a taste of playing relatively consistently, with 31 appearances this season. With most of them being on the wing, rather than in the center where Mou presumably needs him, i can see him leaving for another club, potentially Valencia.
(Shaw): I thought Mou lost confidence in Shaw last season, but he's still here. We'll see if he makes the cut this time.

Willian: Jose needs a consistent performer with a good work rate. With Willian he knows what he gets. All depends on wether Chelsea are willing to let him go to us after Matic.
Dier: I believe Mou wanted him last summer. A midfield 3 with him, Matic and Pogba would work well in the big games. Also Dier could provide cover for CB with Jones leaving.
(Perisic): If Shaw leaves i believe we could go for a 3-back line, with Valencia and Perisic as wing-backs. All depends on Shaw leaving though i think. Would prefer Alex Sandro though

EDIT: Forgot to set ideal XI (Not so much ideal, as what i think will happen. Also, i think we'd ajust to 4-3-3 for about half of the games, allowing Willian in the team)

IMO, we should aim higher.

In case we play 352, I would go for a top No.10... someone like Dybala, Eriksen, etc. I would give that top signing the shirt No.10.

I agree with you with our front of 2. Sanchez + Lukaku (with Martial/Rashford as cover). Also, I see your point of playing 3 at the back with the amount of defenders we have.

With the formation you proposed, the key is the wingbacks... I would go for young, talented and fast players such as Adama Traore and Sessegnon. I think both are realistic, also a CB like Alderweireld is.

De Gea(Romero)
Bailly(Lindelof) - Alderweireld(Smalling) - Rojo(Jones)
Traore(Valencia) - Matic(Fred) - Pogba(Herrera)- Sessegnon(Young)
Dybala(Lingard/Mata)
Lukaku(Rashford) - Alexis(Martial)
However, If we sign a top attacker like Dybala, I can see Martial going.

Even though I think a 352 could work, Mourinho will play most of our games with a 433 formation. LB(Sandro),CM (Fred/Savic) and RW are the priorities this summer.

Can't say i disagree with anything in your post. Would love a dedicated #10, but i do think we will get more results from a defensively strong 6/8 to play alongside Matic. I feel that if we invest in a superstar #10, that pushes Pogba down alongside Matic. I think Pogba has a long way to go to make that work in the big games.

All that being said, i have no reason to really think Mou would go for 3-5-2. He tried 3 CB's on occation this season, but not so much that i feel it is the main plan for next season. Only reason i really think this is a viable alternative is the abundance of CB's, as well as the kind of backs we're linked with(all more suitable for WB than LB/RB imo)

As for your wingback alternatives, i can't say too much about them, as i haven't watched a full game of either. I did have the impression that Traore was a winger though, is he playing wingback? Sessegnon could be interesting in a wingback position, i think he'd be too weak defensively for a pure LB position. My suggestion of Perisic was down to our links last year, and my impression that Perisic is a hard worker and the ready product.

Pogba also qualifies for home grown !!!

personally I would like to see Darmian, Blind, Rojo, Shaw, Herrera, Fellaini and Mata leave (Herrera can stay for one more season as backup since we most likely won't be buying 3 midfielders) and of course Carrick retires. Not sure about A. Pereira and I feel Tuanzebe or TFM should be loaned out again to a PL club, the other can stay as backup.

Than I'd bring in

Alex Sandro
Umtiti
SMS
Fred/Neves/Jorginho
Mahrez
Meunier
Ryan Sessegnon (and loan him out again for one season), that way he'd be ready to come next summer were we could get rid of Young

So a starting lineup of:
De Gea
Meunier - Bailly - Umtiti - Sandro
SMS - Matic - Pogba
Mahrez - Lukaku - Sanchez

De Gea
Fabinho Bailly Rojo Sandro
Matic
Pogba Savic
Sanchez Lukaku Martial

Bench
Romero
Jones
Young
Fred
Lingard
Rashford
4 Signings is nowhere near too much for ask for as its clear players need replacing. Darmian, Shaw, Blind, Carrick, Fellaini to be moved on to make space for the new signings and you're still left with a second team of....

Romero
Valencia Jones Smalling Young
Herrera McTominay Fred
Mata Rashford Lingard

De Gea
Fabinho Bailly Rojo Sandro
Matic
Pogba Savic
Sanchez Lukaku Martial

Bench
Romero
Jones
Young

Switch Fabinho for a full-time RB and Pereira for McTominay since we already have midfield size in that first team and could use some skill if Pogba and SMS are out, and this makes a lot of sense to me, though I haven't seen enough of SMS or Fred to know if they fit or are as good as people say.

in:

Sidibe
Sandro
Alderweireld
Savic
Fred

and a RW, but Mahrez seems to be City bound.

Realistic 11 for next season :

--------------------------De Gea--------------------------------

Valencia----Baily----------Alderweireld-----Sandro

--------------------------Matic-----------------------------------

---------------Fekir--------------------Pogba------------------

Sanchez-----------------------------------------------Martial

----------------------------Lukaku---------------------------------

In :

1.Toby Alderweireld
2.Alex Sandro
3.Nabi Fekir
4.Riyad Mahrez ( If Martial leaves ) then swap Sanchez and Mahrez positions in the above line up

DDG
Valencia Bailly Umtiti Sandro
Martial Herrera Matic Pogba
Lukaku Sanchez
Basically like Atletico Madrid: Martial hugging the touchline as Correa, Pogba performing the Koke role and moving centrally to play passes, Sandro overlapping and Lukaku and Sanchez in a pair up front.

GK De Gea (Romero)
RB Sidibe (Valencia)
LB Alex Sandro (Shaw)
CB Bailly Or Smalling
CB De Ligt (Rojo)
CM Matic (McTominay)
CM Neves (Herrera)
CAM Pogba (Lingard)
RM Bailey or Mahrez (
LM Rashford (Sanchez
CF Lukaku (Martial)

Axel, Gomes and Lindelof out on loan for another year hopefully recall one at Christmas if they playing well. Blind, Jones, Fellaini all moved on keep Young around for his versatility.

1st choice team:

Sanchez------Lukaku--------Bale

2nd choice team (i.e competition/cover):

Martial---------Rashford-------Lingard

Extras for rotation options: Rojo, Perreira

Players I would sell: DDG, Rashford, Valencia, Young, Fellaini

Personally, I prefer a GK who is a leader and quick on counterattack. Kasper Schmeichel will fit the bill even though he may not be as agile as DDG.

Defence I won't change much since defenders tend to learn from mistakes and become better.

I expect the team to be attacking so the tactics employed would be mostly 352. Matic is a great pivot DM and he was one of the main reasons why Chelsea won the premier league 2 times post-Frank Lampard.

King Pogba is a luxury player but has shown maturity so he will play. Ideally, Isco will be here but this is not realistic so I opt for Sergej/Dybala.

Ideally also, no Sanchez as he's too slow and can't shoot from far. Will take Adrija Zivkovic for a good fee on right wing.

Striker I will buy Harry Kane. Come on, he needs a better club than Spurs and he's strong mentally, physically and technically. Obviously, a good price can lure him away from Spurs.

Kasper Schmeichel
Smalling, bailey, phil jones
Matic, Pogba
Zivkovic Sergej Martial
Lukaku Kane

Read the first page of this thread and if that is people's realistic summer predictions then there are many.more Muppets out there than i thought.

Mourinho not one for wholesale changes there will be 2 new faces maybe 3 if fellaini leaves as suspected.

Why am I?

I cannot be entitled to my own opinion?

Where was ddg when the penalty was awarded?

Where was ddg during extra time when united has a corner?

Peter schmeichel has scored 10 goals in his career, how about ddg?

Ddg almost conceded a soft goal against hazard. He needs to go asap.

Works for me, although Pogba in double pivot is cause for concern.

But there's been too little discussion here about Sanchez's poor performances for us and whether he really fits into what we need next season. His workrate is high but his lack of end prodoct has been disappointing. He's still got market value and perhaps we should be thinking about selling him and giving Martial a proper chance to recover from his own poor season.

If we did bring in Griezmann, I'd love to see him link up with Martial. And with Pogba and Sandro behind them that would be a pretty ridiculous stuff on the left side.

My goodness Kante is one helluva player. Can't stop being impressed by him with each passing season in the PL. His intelligence in defending and driving the ball out on counters is exactly what we miss. No nonsense playing street football.

I'd have him over any other midfielder to complete a trio with Pogba and Matic under Jose.

Since that's not an option, defensive overhaul...repeat what everyone else feels:

DDG
Sidibe (anyone but Tony V). Alderweireld Bailly Sandro
Fred Matic
Pogba
Sanchez. Lukaku. Willian

Ideally I'd love to have this sort of starting 11:

Sanchez Lukaku Willian
Pogba Draxler
Matic
Sandro Baily Alderweireld Cedric
De Gea
At right central midfield there wouldn't have been a better choice than Thiago Alcantara but not sure we can lure him away from Bayern but the few times I saw Draxler play deeper than normal, I was impressed and I reckon he can play the same role for us. I'd also love us to have a deep lying playmaker but we cannot have it all now, there will always be a next season where we can get Matic to have a bit of competition.

I normally would love to see Douglas Costa here but not sure Juve will agree to release him and Sandro in the same window. Willian would fit us like glove but will Chelsea sell to us? The next option is Mahrez but I learnt he's off to city. Can we beat them to signing him Sanchez style? Bet we can.

I really really want Christian Eriksson, more than any other name being touted.

Sure we need two wingbacks and two wingers also. I'd offer spurs a pick of Martial + 25million or Mata and 35million or Fellaini and 260million plus the naming rights to Old Trafford and we co-wear their chosen sponsorship deal for a few years and pay 40% towards their new ground and training facilities and a gentlemans agreement we have a 5% chance of signing Kane in the near future!

Or is Levy really that tough?...…….:D
