Yoann Gourcuff

Apparently Gourcuff had a hell of a game today, especially in the second half, scored and dominated the play. Bordeuax go top and Gourcuff seems to be finding his form again.

Yep, watched that(instead of the imminent Messi wankfest). He's slowly getting back to top level - as against Olympiacos. Class player - great distribution, and is pretty ready to boss the midfield in any team. Would solve out set piece problems as well.

He's my #1 pick if we buy a big name in the summer.

He was very good.Getting back to his best, it helps when he doesn't run around like a headless chicken trying to impersonate every single player on the pitch. When he keeps his game very simple it's when he really helps his team.
In the most important moment of the season he's regaining his needed form to help Bordeaux

Theres talks that Munich, Inter and Juve will all be making bids for him somewhere in the 25 million range.

With rooney showing he is capable of playing upfront on his own in the big games the french lad would be a great addition to our midfield. In an ideal world

-------Rooney
Nani--Gourcuff--Valencia
----Fletch--Harg
Evra--Rio----Vid--Raf
---------VDS

Well balanced and young enough team to be able to improve, oh and relatively cheap (Gourcuff £20m)

feck me what a team that is. I reckon Gourcuff will cost a lot more than 20 million though.

I heard something about him having a release clause around that price. not sure if it is at all true though.

He would be a fantastic addition to the United team, feel he would really make a difference to us. I would still reckon we'd need to be looking at a left sided player and possible a more traditional CM too, along with him. I don't have confidence in Hargreaves to return as we would need him too, and I'm not sure about relying on Scholes/Giggs as CM players again next season, nor on Carrick or Anderson at all!

Our wingers are fine, better than fine. Giggs, Park, Nani and Valencia have had seasons better than almost any pair of wingers out there. And... We have 4 to choose from. Thats been one of our biggest strengths this season along with defensive depth and our striker. Gourcuff better be getting back on form. Because off form, Park would keep his place instead. I'd be a fan of a move for him as he'd be able to play in all our formations. But I'd imagine it'd be one big name player in, one big name player out. One player on high wages in, one player on high wages out. But we could do that and still improve.

Excellent piece of play just before the penalty for Bordeaux's second.

Outstanding touch, great piece of close control and a good shot. Some of his touches are magical.

Thought he was relatively quiet in general though, very subdued in the first half in open play.

When he signed for Bordeaux after his loan, it is said that there was a 20M£ buy-out clause. But i don't know if Bordeaux can still refuse and just accept the best offer. Anyway, i think he'll end up in some place like Arsenal or Juve... and i'm not really sure that id' be that interesting to buy him if we had to pay more than 30M€ - Juve's presumed offer.

If we do sign this lad, where does Carrick's future lie in the team? He is simply too good to be sitting on the bench so unless we rotate our midfield like we did at the beginning of the season, Carrick might be on his way out (which would be horrible as he is a top top player).

Yes please, a signing that should be pretty much stright forward rather than
a drawn out saga lasting the entire cnuting summer.

He'd play every week dumbass.

If we stick with a 2 man midfield, Fletcher is a guarantee so Gourcuff, Carrick, et al. will have to be rotated. If we play with a 3 man midfield, Fletcher and Gourcuff are guarantees, which leaves Carrick, Hargo, and the other midfielders to fill in that one spot. What guarantees that he would play every week? :wenger:

If you add David Silva to that wish list I'll sign up :wenger:

This guy is the dog's bollocks. His reading of the game, vision and technical ability is fantastic.

I disagree, I think Carrick needs a kick up the backside and this season he's not had the competition for a first team place that he needs.

If we got Gourcuff (or anyone similar) we'd basically be looking at shuffling Fletcher, Carrick, Gourcuff and Hargreaves - that's still only 3 out of 4. For one season you can add Giggs and Scholes to that equation but they're not going to be around for much longer.

yes he cost 15 million didnt he when he went back to france...

have to think that his value has gone up by more than 5 million since then...

I think Carrick's place in the team hinges more on whether we stick with 4-3-3 or go back to 4-4-2. His talents are wasted in a 4-3-3; he's best in a 4-4-2 picking out any of four forwards on the fly as opposed to three forwards who are being tightly marked leaving no choice for him but to play far more obvious balls.

I started this thread last summer, and my opinion hasn't changed much since then. I still think that he (or a player like him) is the missing piece for this team. We need two proven match winners in our squad who can complement each other when both are fit. Gourcuff fits this description to a "T". Given our light weight performances in mid-field recently, this is an additional reason to favor Gourcuff over an out and out striker. He would also offer quality set piece delivery. Even if he costs 30 million pounds, given his age and potential fit in the team, I think we should buy him.

The foundation for this current team is VERY solid, and we just need one or two additions.

Want him badly, he and Felch would be awesome together

If we're ever serious about getting him, this summer should be the best time to do it (outside of a great World Cup for him). He's had a blip this season, and consequently, his value should have decreased. If we can somehow get him for between £15-20m, we will have sorted one half of our midfield problems. If we can sort the other hafl (a world-class defensive midfielder) our midfield will be set. Then all we will need is a striker, and our team will be set for next season...

Unfortunately, I dont have faith in the Glazers giving us the cash to do it :(

That's wishful thinking as he'll surely cost more due to his potential only never mind the season he's had.His potential and his importance for Bordeaux will make him a very expensive player to buy

What kind of figures would we be looking at kouroux?

£25m? £30m?

Right now I would agree with those sums but if he adds a good WC it might even a higher fee.

If we do go for a quality player, logic dictates that we would complete the transfer before the World Cup (although we might announce it after the tournament is over to keep pressure off said player).

Which would be the ideal thing to do but I can't see it happening.Gourcuff will be too high profile for United to buy

I think we'll go for a top quality midfielder. SAF says he has the funds and prices seem to have settled down.. somewhat.

Gourcuff's future is connected to Blanc's.If Blanc becomes coach of the NT then chances of Gourcuff leaving are very high and if Blanc stays at Bordeaux then there is a good chance Gourcuff won't leave
