Yoann Gourcuff

He'd do well in the most advanced in a midfield three. Carrick and Fletcher behind him

I have only seen him play two or three times but I have to say, he has impressed me on all of those occasions.

He actually played in a 2 man central midfield during his Rennes days and is quite disciplined.

He's also versatile enough to play on the right.

I bet Blanc'll bring him with him when he gets the United job. ;)

He's been really poor considering the high standard of last season.I think the fame has gone to his head

Do you think Gourcuff will move on in the summer or stay with Bordeaux for another season? Also, having myself not seen too much of him, what are your thoughts on Tremoulinas, he seems to be attracting interest from some of the big clubs in Italy, Spain and England.

A lot will depend on Laurent Blanc. If he stays as Bordeaux manager then I think Yohann will stay otherwise it won't be a good sign.Plus the WC might play a big role in his future andif he does well in it some clubs will come knocking at his door.Knowing Bordeaux's president he'll only Gourcuff for a huge fee so will United afford him ? I really don't know
Tremoulinas is the best LB playing in France, solid when defending and a great crosser of the ball with plenty assists already.

Well, he might be able to play a game or two on the right, but he definitely does not have the attributes to play regularly in this position.

Do the french posters feel he'd be optimised playing in the hole behind a player like Rooney, or part of a midfield 3?

Playing behind Rooney would be his ideal position as he hasn't the concentration to be a full time CM yet.He can help out in some occasions playing in CM but in the long run you want him to be THE playmaker of the team therefore giving as less defensive duties as possible

If his best role would be the attacking play maker in a 451, I'd be happy with signing him. Rooney has absolutely shone as a lone striker this season. An attacking creative player in the middle would really add to our team and help Rooney out in this role too.

Based on how Rooney has done this season, I think 451 is the way to go and Gourcuff added to the midfield with, for example, Carrick and Fletcher behind him, would be a great platform for us to build our team on.

It would end up quite the same no ? Or you consider that in a midfield 3 he'd play deeper on the pitch ?

Anyway, i don't know how he'd adapt to the PL, he has struggled quite a lot this season and the physical aspect of his game might fall into question here. Not the fact that he'd be under pressure or face agressive opponents, but that he has barely proved that he can endure it on a long run of games and weeks. He'd cost at least 20M€ - his buy-out clause - so we'd better think of it cautiously.

He is basically what Scholes was back in 99. A pure attacking midfielder with serious on the ball skills. The missing link for our 4-3-3 for the foreseeable future. I pray we bag him ahead of any other midfielder:drool:

I think players with his technique and awareness can get by without being a bruiser. Just depends on how he responds to being kicked a lot?

I think Marco's saying that there are questions about his fitness rather than his willingness to take a few kicks.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he play on the wing for Milan?

That's what I thought, hence in our 4-4-3, he'd fit nicely on one wing with Valencia on the other.

We have Park now for the middle role

I agree with Kouroux that he hasn't been at his best this season, and Bordeaux's point tally has suffered because of it. Maybe this is a case of a player needing a new challenge in a stronger league? In any case, he certainly showed his class again last night.

He was in direct competition with a certain Kaka' who was at the height of his powers... that's why Yoann was first loaned and then sold to Bordeaux.

He's an 85 on FIFA 10, better than all of our centre mids. Fergie, sign him up

He's a monster on Fifa, never been impressed with him whenever I've watched him live.. the latter stages of CL and World cup will tell us whether he has the cahones to hack the top top level.

This lads gone to the top of my Muppet list now, him and Di Maria are equal tops.

I think I would still prefer Rodwell as our big signing this summer seem as he is a huge talent that should be at the top in a couple of years and would probably stay for life!

I will be very much happy and contented if Gourcuff ends up as our only big name signing nex season - that just shows how confident I am with our squad depth.

Forget strength and depth.. The man makes up for any frailtee's we may have... I too would be happy with that.

Apparently Gourcuff had a hell of a game today, especially in the second half, scored and dominated the play. Bordeuax go top and Gourcuff seems to be finding his form again.
