I’m getting so fed up of that bullshit Parry mechanic in HiFi Rush to the point where I’m not sure I can keep going with the game. Shame as I really enjoyed it until now.
It is completely unnecessary and annoying indeed. I also don’t like how the game will not allow you to just bypass that using common fighting mechanism but will rather throw you into situations that specifically require you to use parry and nothing else, while you can pretty much complete all other parts of the fight however you like.

Yeah and then fecks you back to an earlier checkpoint after and you have to repeat shit just to do it again. Turning on low latency mode has helped but there are still some ridiculous ones that take me forever. It’s so stupidly precise and crazy. Ruins an otherwise brilliant game for me at times. And as you say, parry is usually optional but here you literally can’t progress without doing it, it’s so silly.

To be fair the QT parts where you are supposed to very quickly mash buttons in the right order and with perfect timing are even more annoying because they also allow no room for error and tend to be quite dragged at times. At least with parry there is a degree of rhythm there which does not exist in QT intervals.

Just keep spamming block button

I think I got to a point where I have to stop because of it too, namely Korsica boss. I have already spend nearly 4 hours trying to beat her, destroyed one pad completely and I honestly don't need this in my life. Awful. I think I'll give it 2 more hours maximum and if I don't beat her the game is off my HD.

Yep I felt the same when the parry stages started. Really frustrating at the start when I really tried to timd the button based on the circles.

The solution I got to this is:

Just keep spamming block button

This.

I completed the game on Hard difficulty so certainly is possible by spamming the button.

That being said, I noticed that I naturally started to time my parries better as I went forward in the game, especially after you get the first one and then you follow the beat, and it started to get more fun. When the big enemies come with these parry attacks it was challenging but an enjoyable change from beat-em-up.

It is fine for parry alone, but when dodging enters the frame it's hell. I have completed that boss fight after almost 5 hours.

Yea I just try to remember the pattern that's given before the attack happens, like how many parries are coming before the dodge.

Anyways, it's not going to get any easier with regards to that after Korsica though

Showcase and Starfield Direct on 11th June:

Will mean that Starfield (confirmed September) and Forza Motorsport will miss the first half of the year window promised in last year's showcase

but I don't think anyone genuinely believed either of those games were intended to make the first half of the year anyway, was just to pad out the infographic and make the releases look more impressive.

Thought all those games were going to be on GP for a minute. Not convinced yet to buy this expensive dvd player. Starfield looks great though. Hellblade is the one I’m waiting for. That’s going to be insane I hope. But they still need more for me to spend 500 quid just to play just 2 games.

Just sign up for gamepass and play it via the xcloud app on a device. I’d presume all the major exclusives will have a streaming option.

Why such a fuss for game delays? And if it wasn't delayed and came out unfinished, same people would moan about it being unfinished, can't please either way.

I don't care and always knew it'd be around then. It's more MS being terrible at managing expectations.

They needlessly said it would release Nov 22 in the summer of 21. Then in the summer of 22 said it'd be latest summer of 23. Both times it was foolish and called out as silly to build that expectation they couldn't guarantee.

Agree that it's not a huge deal and for a game like this I'm happy for it to take as long as needed for a quality product. But MS need to improve their comms.

Wait, are you telling me there’s more party/dodge nonsense after Korsica? I thought I was about two thirds done already and would be smooth until the end!

I will be shocked if we see Starfield in 2023. Mid-2024 is the earliest I can imagine.

Nah. I knew June wouldn't be likely as Spencer will want to avoid a cyberpunk situation and they'd be competing with Diablo, Final Fantasy and Zelda. Diablo could be 1p by then too.

Could see them delaying one more time to November but think it absolutely comes out this year.

Yea, I mean you'll get a lot of bigger enemies who will have parry attacks sequences (not necessarily dodge though). Will come in further boss fights as well.

Well, September is Summer 23 - so assuming it isn't delayed they are still correct.

Sorry. What they actually said last June was 'next 12 months' so I was misquoting when I said summer.

FFS. What a bullshit fight. Awful. The worst thing is I got to the last part and it bugged out! Chao ended up out of the screen so all her attacks were missing and I couldn't end the fight. Unbelievable.

Edit; thank feck it resolved itself.

I ended up not really enjoying Hi Fi Rush. Put it on easy for 2nd half of the game and flew through it. Didnt get the achievment for finishing the game as I played half on normal and half on easy

Second half of the game is much less enjoyable, or rather the final third. I know devs are reluctant these days to make games that are 7-8 hours long as they tend to be perceived as somewhat lacking in content but it's completely fine and would have been even more acceptable in this case as it's an unexpected drop that was immediately available for free to all GP subscribers. I feel like games are often forced to last 12-15 hours without any real need. New Assassins Creed games are a perfect example, they were good as 10-12 hour games but feel very overextended at 30+ hours.

But I love the longer AC games and can quite easily sink hundreds of hours into them. This seems true of quite a lot of people as AC games make much more money in their current state than they ever did as linier games.

Sony admitting Game Pass is far ahead of PS Plus while also coming out with some waffle about degrading the experience on PS despite them having been trying to do it to others for years. Guess they have to fight it for their shareholders but they’ve made themselves look very silly so far.

Meanwhile, MS is making more deals to bring games to other platforms, including, comically, a deal with a company Sony has invested in.

I just fecking love how seamless Gamepass is across PC and Xbox. As someone who can't always get on the couch with the Series X when I want, being able to go in on the PC and load up games from the exact same save point is awesome. Love it.

Does game pass work on mac if I install windows onto it? Doubt I’d be able to play many (if any) of the latest games but there’s a few good oldies I’d like to play.

Actually managed to finish HiFi Rush without much issues after Korsica. Now playing Atomic Heart which has been much better than I expected, I’m probably like halfway through already and it’s a good blend of story (which isn’t half bad), action and puzzles. One of these games I would have never bought at full price but I’m very glad to have found through GP.

Far Cry 5 has got 4K / 60 FPS upgrade on XSX and I had been intending to play it for a while as I love Montana setting. Probably my next game too play after AH.

Ghostwire Tokyo confirmed to release on GP on 12 April with plenty of additional content. Nice.

Oh nice, I didn't know about that. I looked last month and saw that it had FPS boost but only 1080p resolution or something like that. Nice to see it get a next-gen patch - will definitely add that to my list to play.
