I have space in my entertainment system for an XBox or.... something? I'm not happy about the first party situation and I don't have a lot of time to play c-tier stuff (sorry @Alock1). Sell me on it someone, or on something else that should take that space instead....

After a week or so with the Series X... My distinct impression is it'll mostly collect dust for the next year. I wouldn't be in a rush unless there are Xbox franchises you're particularly keen to play.

Fair enough. You should get your money back. You should be able to sell it and not lose anything at all.

Pretty sure I could sell it on for more than I paid  Don't think I will though, I'll end up buying one a year from now anyways, and I did the gamepass 3 months for a dollar already. It's not that I won't get any use out of it, just that there's enough to play elsewhere to keep me busy until the 1st party lineup starts to flesh out. And the back-compat features haven't been quite as enjoyable for me as I'd hoped.

I'm sure there's loads of gems on gamepass you haven't already played. Just gotta dig them out.

truthfully the disappointing part of gamepass thus far is the lack of older games I've already played. Just doesn't seem to have the selection that I was hoping for. Like someone else on here said earlier, I should have checked the lists of whats available/supported more closely. It's a crazy deal of course, but a bit less so for me personally.

What sort of games were you after? We might be able to give recommendations for similar ones

What sort of games were you after?

Specifically, KOTOR I + 2, the Prince of Persia trilogy, some of the old LOTR games like Two Towers, ROTK, The Third Age, Def Jam, SSX Tricky. Just games I used to love as a kid. Had an idea in my head that the Series X would be a nice nostalgia box until some of its heavy hitters release. Most of what I want to play though a) isn't on gamepass, and b) isn't back-compat supported. The back-compat support from X360 on seems great, but I've played remasters of many of those games already (Bioshock, Mass Effect, the Ezio ACs etc)

Ah yeah that's a pickle.

KOTOR II is on the store for £9 if it helps.

It’s the best console of this generation and the GP library currently and for the upcoming 6 months looks ridiculous.

The series X is not that big, so it'll fit nicely in your space.

GamePass is the best reason to get one. Especially, if you've been out of the Xbox ecosystem. So, much 1st party content to catch up on.

What's coming in the next 6 months?
November has High on Life, Persona 5, Scorn, new Plague Tale game, there is Commandos 3 remake before, sometime during Q4 probably Somerville, Gunfire Reborn, maybe Wo Long or Flintlock. Then a ton of games at the beginning of next year. I’m sure they will pop up with many good older games too like they’ve consistently done over the last months, probably RE Village, maybe some of the RE remakes. They will also throw Deathloop onto GP in Q4. There’s going to be a ton of stuff.

I just set Fifa 22 off to download so probably not in for a great time

Played it last night against some friends and found it surprisingly good. It's slower than most FIFAs and defending is actually effective this year if you do it right (aka jockey don't press).

Edit - We were playing with 4 star teams so I can't speak for what it's like as PSG, Liverpool etc.

That houseflipper came on game pass but it's locked at 30fps so it's unplayable for me

I would say after making the move back to console with the series X I've been bitterly disappointed with the shite support for higher frame rates. It's embarrassing and makes it pot luck on whether a game can be played or not.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it shite, but it's definitely not ideal and I completely agree about it being a complete toss up as to whether the game you want is supported. It's unfortunate, although its still miles ahead of the competition.

Read MS are moving everyone who done the trick back down to the proper level. Not banning people, but making them pay the difference if they want ultimate. I'll try finding the story again.

You sure that wasn't PS Plus?

You can turn off the 30fps limit in the settings I think on Series X. I'm on PC, so definitely can but Googling suggests you should be able to do that on the X.

Good spot!

Cant disagree. And yet I still can’t help but continuously excited about the prospect of a new Elder Scrolls. Skyrim was just an incredible game for me and one that I still play. I basically just need more of the same in a slightly updated package. Fallout 4 on the other hand I didn’t enjoy at all. Boring gameplay, poor characters, not many memorable locations. Personally think this looks very much Fallout in Space which just doesn’t massively appeal to me personally. Having said that when I do pick up an Xbox down the line I’ll certainly give it a go.
didn't you get tired or raiding dungeons and caves?
