Xavi

He forgot to mark Reo Coker and Francis for their goals and was caught out of position when Arsenal scored even though he is positionally good

we conceded goals when we had Keane in his pomp you know, or maybe you don't remember because you were 6 at the time, if after half a season you can only pick out 2 mistakes then I think you've just proved the point that he's doing really well.

Mirror reckon a move to United is on the cards for Xavi ... in exchange for Ron

Thankfully bollocks, though Xavi is handy

What if they offered Xavi + Messi? lol We'd have to consider it. Personally, though, I would still say no. I know that is probably stupid, but whatever I love Ronnie.

How do they come up with this shit. A player that describes himself as a one team man and another probably worth around 70 mil. You can't write better gossip though, I'll give them that.

Barca May Xav Ronnie
Manchester United face a battle to keep Cristiano Ronaldo after Barcelona president Joan Laporta made the Portugal winger his top target for next season. But United want the Spanish club's midfielder Xavi Hernandez, which could pave the way for a player-plus-cash deal. Laporta is determined to land Ronaldo, stung by his failure to sign No.1 target Thierry Henry last season. Manager Frank Rijkaard is not so keen on the player. A Barcelona source said: "Rijkaard doesn't feel Ronaldo is a priority and isn't sure it's worth spending £40m-plus for him. But Laporta has Ronaldo in his head and after what happened with Henry, is even more determined to get his first-choice player."
Martin Lipton, Daily Mirror

I'd take Xavi and up until the summer I'd probaby have gone along with the swap, but all of a sudden, despite probable Remy protests, Ronnie has changed potential talent into almost the finished article(which we all except Remy knew he would eventually). We now, again have players all over the pitch that can change a game single handedly.

Strange that when it gets mentioned that we maybe interested in one of Barca's top players of the futere, that within a couple of days later Surprise Surprise Barca are interested in Ronaldo (Tit for Tat) I'm sure its the English press playing games with the Spanish press to see who can print the best load of bollocks and visa versa.

That a stupid swap deal for us, Xavi is a similar player to Scholes, Not what we need, we need a tough-tacklng ball-winner.

Barcelona would and have never spent 30 million pounds on a player. Besides they can't afford to. We on the other hand can and have in the past
How do you work out that we can afford Xavi? How much do you think he'd go for?

If Carrick was 14-18, then Xavi has to be 20+

You've answered yourself. If we could spend that much on Carrick. We can easily spend 25million on Xavi. Barca don't spend in our fashion at all...
But we spent that much because we desperately needed a midfielder and Fergie had his heart set on Carrick, who Spurs didn't want to sell.

Whether Malcolm will shell out another inflated price is yet to be seen.

1. The situation hasn't changed. We still desparately need more midfielders.

2. Stay tuned to the Hargreves story. We will pay way more than he is worth guranteed.

Thus says the chief:cool:

I don't think i'd swap Ronaldo for any player in the world at the moment.

Over SAF's dead body as he's invested more time in this kid than anyone i can remember and now that MU are seeing the benefits it will never happen. As it stands we have 2 of the most exciting young players in world european football, Messi & Fabs being the others. All we need to do is add a few players and we will be contenders for all the honors for a good few years.

My god. Some of you saying you'd prefer Carrick over Xavi.

fecking hell.

Do you even watch football?

If Carrick + Xavi doesn't work out, I'd send Carrick to the reserves and play someone else alongside Xavi. Xavi is absolutely fecking ace.

Before you abuse anyone mate. In our current squad, if we bought Xavi no, who would you play in the two center midfield slots between Scholes, Carrick and Xavi? Remember Xavi can't tackle for his supper and we won't use 4-3-3?

Xavi has played alongside Edmilson and Motta, players who are not as good as Carrick imo. so why wouldn't it work out?

We've been linked to Xavi in the past, a few years ago i think, the same summer we got Ronaldo. Might be something real in fergie's interest, although i doubt they'd sell him to us.

Thiago Motta and Edmilson are fecking average players.

I'd even say they are a bit shite despite playing for Barcelona.

I think they will if we are really interested. Especially since Giovanne Do Santos seems a real talent and Iniesta has been fantastic this season. I doubt Xavi would enjoy benching for Iniesta.

Giovanni Dos Santos has nothing to do with Xavi, he's a forward.

yep - he'll leave the euro champs in beautiful barca to join UNITED - any of you muppets ever been to manchester?

So we buy Carrick who is marginally better than Fletcher and are interested in Xavi who is a slight upgrade over Carrick :wenger:

You find something to critisise about everything. Did you watch Carrick at OT yesterday? He was fantastic.
Xavi is a world class player. He isn't just some "slight upgrade" over anyone. Not as if Barca would let go of him. Only reason they'd let go of him is because of Iniesta.

I think the point he was trying to make is Xavi holds the ball up under pressure better than any player in the world. Very hard to dispossess

Brilliant passer too.

some bollocks going around rawk that city are going to bid silly money for xavi and it's one of the players 'arry meant when he said city have 2 players that will 'blow your mind'.

There was a rumor last week that Barca are going to sell Xavi to City and make room for Fabregas.

Xavi will not be sold. He makes them tick. Not a fecking chance he'd be sold to make way for Cesc.

Xavi is the type of player that can play well into his 30s. He is a symbol of Barca. They'll keep him till he retires.
