getting fed up with just OH and Larsson threads

Barcelona have told skysports.com that speculation linking midfielder Xavi with a shock move to Manchester United is wide of the mark.

The Red Devils are known to be casting around for midfield reinforcements in January having been linked with Owen Hargreaves and Rio Mavuba of Bordeaux, and Xavi is one name reportedly on their radar.

However the classy Catalan is an established member of Frank Rijkaard's first XI and has appeared in 13 of Los Cules' 16 Liga games this season - scoring in their last outing against Getafe.

Moreover, the member of Luis Aragones' World Cup squad is a rare one-club man and the Camp Nou giants have now dismissed talk that their midfield schemer could break a lifetime's bond by moving to United.

"We do not know about this subject. Normally the club does not respond to stories published in the papers but we have not received any offer for the player," a club spokesman told skysports.com.

"Xavi is a key man for us and has signed a contract until 2010."

The player himself has declined to comment on the link, stating: "I do not speak about rumours."

What speculation? It's the first time I see it.

was on sky sports web site last night, comes on the back of deco saying he wants to play in the premiership. Now this story is a load of bollocks but something tells me everything isnt as happy as it seems in the barca camp.

Xavi wouldn't fit in our squad... I wouldn't really wanna see Xavi + Carrick against Premier League teams like Bolton etc..

would be a great pair for europe tho..

Xavi has a lot of similarities with Scholes.

Have my doubts about him being suited to the premiership and the United way.

Hows the Barca way any different to the United way... Derkhead! But he's not the most mobile i'll give you that

Xavi

You must be joking. He is not a holding midfielder.

Not to sound like a muppet, but Scholes is 32 and not getting any younger.

Xavi isn't going anywhere mind, especially in January.

Great skilful player. I'd love him here at United someday.

I think the point he was trying to make is Xavi holds the ball up under pressure better than any player in the world. Very hard to dispossess

classy, however, think i'd rather iniesta, bloke is superb every now and again.

take either, really. Xavi gets the odd goal aswell, hopefully theres something in it.

this story is so out of the blue and unpredictable that its roused my interest.

Tosser, have you watched Carrick play at all this season.

He forgot to mark Reo Coker and Francis for their goals and was caught out of position when Arsenal scored even though he is positionally good

Fletcher playing far fewer minutes has put in as many tackles as Carrick and with the same success %. He has also setup, scored goals and directly contributed to our winning atleast 9 points.

In our starting XI, who has played a less significant part in our success this season than Carrick ?

Instant Karma is a Carrick-hater and a total idiot. i wouldn't pay any attention to what he says...

regarding Xavi: for me, he is one of the few players who can replace Scholes. he is obviously not a holding player. and any doubts about his ability to play in the Prem are frankly ridiculous.

would never leave Barca, tho.

You are a stupid cnut....continue wanking over a mediocre player who isnt good enough to be a regular international and possibly never will be.

Our form in the second half of last season with OShea playing in midfield was as good as our start to this season. He even covered for Silvestre as a centre half and a shaky Evra at left back.

Can't help but  quite right tho

Xavi's always looked a bit light-weight for me. And our midfield is'nt exactly full of acklers at the moment.

This all started because of a wind-up on red issue.

He is one of Barca's favorites amongst the fans, Barca put a £100 million buy out clause in his contract, only reason they would ever even consider selling would be to fit in Iniesta, but even then I think the Barca fans would go mad.

If I had to chose between this guy and carrikc I'd take Carrick, at least Carrick can tackle slightly. Xavi would starve to death if he had to do it for food.
He's nothing like Carrick. Xavi's game isnt about tackling. He is like a Scholes sort of player who would be fecking brilliant in midfield with Carrick. He'll never come here tho unless Barca dont want him which is unlikely.

When Scholes retires he would be a perfect replacement. He or Diego. Till then it's useless to attempt to sign such players. Their Scholes' like weaknesses would ensure no games for them most of the time if we tried to get 'em now.

I think it's pointless linking Spanish or Italian players to United as they stick to their own leagues, with the very few exceptions but the main ones you'll immediately think of have a Spanish manager, and the Italians at Chelsea a few years back had Italiano managers.
Especially if they play for Milan, Inter, Juventus, Roma, Real, Barca etc, the big teams.

Fantastic player who will probably never play for us.

Can you tell me why not? Actually i dont rate him that high but i cant see any reason why he dont, who knows. I would prefer a lot of players in the Premier League than him.
