Xavi Simons: any good?

I don't think he's a drastically talented player certainly not of the ilk of a Musiala or Olise who you'll observe in Germany. Comparing him with a player of similar position and profile in Olmo and there's considerable differences from a technical standpoint.

I think he's a player that will need a good system to help enhance his influence.

I certainly think he's as talented as Musiala, Olise and Wirtz. He is technically great, creative with a great eye for a pass. If he goes to Bayern, his talent will get a much bigger audience and people will be more aware I feel.

While you can say he's getting plenty of audience during the Euro's, the quality of this Dutch squad is quite poor and it would be very different at Bayern. I have no doubt he'll be a success there if he joins.

A lot of the judgement he is getting is from people who have mostly seen him in this tournament. Reality is we have seen a lot of good players look very ordinary at the national stage. De Bruyne always looks half the player for Belgium for instance.

Thanks for confirming KD. Thought I was going mad because I keep on hearing how good he is and then I’ve watched him almost exclusively only for your NT and he’s…been fairly meh. Assuming hes much much better at club level?

If one had never watched Foden or Saka, and then wanted to see what all the hype was about while they played for Southgate's England at the euros, one would probably be left feeling extremely underwhelmed and unimpressed. Xavi Simons is an exciting player but I always felt he was stifled to death by Koeman.

Seems to be the overriding consensus here, yeah. Like I said, I've never watched him at club level and he's been very "meh" for his NT - but as you say, same applies to a lot of excellent players - especially at tournaments (if you've never heard of Mbappe, you'd also wonder what all the hype is about simply judging by these euros). Will be interesting to follow his career, especially his next club move.

His goal was really excellent but overall he was poor. Far too many safe passes backwards (although this was a theme with the Netherlands in general) and when he did go forwards there was just too many slack ones.
