Nice to see someone having a clue doesn't it? Not someone who completely abandons something that made them successful in the first place.
Many here told you Xhaka is a really poor player.Xhaka really knits that midfield together. Arsenal might have won a league or two if they kept him.
But even with Klopp.. I think it’s a story that gets misreported. Lots is made of the “Disneyland” story. But we made that approach when he was employed by Dortmund. Liverpool approached him when he had no club. They were obviously more likely to get him. If United had approached him when Liverpool did, it might be a different story. We won’t know thatLeverkusen with Bayern relationship is nothing like United and Liverpools. He won the CL with Liverpool and is revered by their fans. There is 0 logic in hoping he would pick United over Liverpool, Bayern or Real Madrid. Sure, we have a bigger appeal than Liverpool for some managers. But we didn't for Klopp, and we sure as shit wouldn't for Xabi Alonso.
Congratulations @Zehner , few fanbases have had to deal with so much heartache and near misses. This is a fantastic and well deserved win. Enjoy it!
No longer Neverkusen
He has publicly said that there is no way that he moves this summer. So yes he would also reject Barcelona.. All these discussions about where Alonso goes should be about after next season, not about this summer. But even with Klopp.. I think it’s a story that gets misreported. As I said to VP, we can agree to disagree on the idea that Alonso would reject United just because he played for Liverpool. Neither of us know do we. It’s just what we think. I can only be confident I’m correct
But question for you and @VP89 - do you also think Alonso would reject Barcelona out of hand if they approached him this summer?
Great achievement.
Please Uncle Flo, sign him asap. Liverpool can get Gareth Barry
Barcelona is more glamorous for spanish/Latino/most players than United is, obviously. Also don't really know Xabi Alonso well enough to know how he feels about that rivalry or how Madrid fans view him.But even with Klopp.. I think it’s a story that gets misreported. Ranieri says hiIt's quite impressive to join a team in the relegation zone, and 18 months later win the title, all in your first season as a coach and without having to rebuild the entire squad.
The truth is that Bayer ususally is a stable top 6 club and had an inexplicably bad run under Seoane. They were no "true" relegation candidate. It's quite impressive to join a team in the relegation zone, and 18 months later win the title, all in your first season as a coach and without having to rebuild the entire squad.
Look at the global following of the clubs and the TV viewerships of those fixtures and tell me.yeah Real Madrid - Barcelona and Boca juniors vs River Plate can have a laugh at that.
That being said I don’t think he will ever coach either United or Barcelona.
Yes. The fact he had a stipulation where he also was allowed to leave his club of real bayern or Liverpool came calling shows where his heart lies on that. But question for you and @VP89 - do you also think Alonso would reject Barcelona out of hand if they approached him this summer?

It's also always relative to other clubs. If none of Bayern/Madrid/Barca/Liverpool were looking for a manager this summer or next summer, then sure, maybe we'd have a shot. I'm not saying he'd reject us out of hand if he was ready for a move (which he said he isn't). I'm saying given that the clubs that would be ahead of United in the pecking order for him all happen to be looking for a manager this summer or next. So yeah. We don't have a shot for him.

You can Google it. Came from various sources including Bild. The Leverkusen CEO initially denied it but clarified that "some agreements are verbal and not in writing".Stipulation according to Alonso? Link me. Then I’ll admit defeat
On the other hand they were also no serious title contenders in decades. The truth is that Bayer ususally is a stable top 6 club and had an inexplicably bad run under Seoane. They were no "true" relegation candidate.
That´s not hard to explain. Seoane is a sh*tty coach, as he´s showing at Gladbach again. If the BL wasn´t so crap at the bottom of the table this season, he´d be in another relegation battle with Gladbach. He might still get there. Darmstadt is on pace for the 2nd worst BL season of all-time. We hammered Gladbach 3-0 at HT before the referee gave the most ludicrous penalty and red card to one of our players right after HT. Game ends 3-3 and the coach praised himself for the tactical adjustments he made at HT. He was so proud. Return leg, we are now on a 22-games winless streak, finished 0-0 with 11 vs. 11. Guess he forgot the tactical adjustments. Dude is a massive clown. Not to take anything away from Alonso. His job is just brilliant, but the reason they were down there was Seoane alone, not their squad quailty. The truth is that Bayer ususally is a stable top 6 club and had an inexplicably bad run under Seoane. They were no "true" relegation candidate.
They're on a roll right now. I don't know about Mata, but I'd certainly try to ascertain Valverde's english language capabilities.Fecking Spanish managers just seem to automatically be good.
Can we give it Juan Mata til the end of the season?
Well, Seoane is the reason for that. Not really "inexplicably"...The truth is that Bayer ususally is a stable top 6 club and had an inexplicably bad run under Seoane. They were no "true" relegation candidate.
Good on him. He might become very unlikeable here one day if he ever manages Liverpool. Happened to Klopp.
Not if you ask LiverpooliansGood on him. He might become very unlikeable here one day if he ever manages Liverpool. Happened to Klopp.
