Xabi Alonso: Bayer Leverkusen manager

the ones that don’t like the english are foren and should be forced to leave the country and go somewhere godforsaken, like france.

the trans ones that wear those skirts are foren. anyone who eats that muck haggis; ditto. the ones that bang on about scottish oil and natural resources? throw them in with the nonces. the ones that try to spend there scottish money in are shops? bring back hanging.

rangers fans like the monarchy and as such although technically foren, there fine by me to visit for the day and would be welcome at my local for a pint, some proper english curry, and some renditions of good save the king, sung in rounds. but no more than that. i would feel very uneasy if one was asylumed into a house on my street or if one of there kids tried to talk to one of mine.

Part of it reeked of Keys saying Alonso didn't have the balls to come to England and test himself in the ''best, most competitive league in the world''. He's only 42, not everybody needs to be a manage a giant club at the first opportunity.

Football is hobbled by toxic masculinity in serious and not serious ways and Keys’ existence is a symptom.

I'm not sure there's anything particularly masculine about Keys. He's just not very bright.

Have read a lot of horrible takes about him staying at Leverkusen when he's still a rookie manager that will benefit with continue to develop his project at Bayer Leverkusen while also gaining experience in the UCL. Him staying also makes it less likely for players to leave the team. It looks likely everything is aligning for him to take on Real Madrid in a few years but he also has a good thing going on with his current team so it seems like a very sensible choice.

Crazy stat: Schick's goal against Hoffenheim was the sixth time this season that we decided a match in extra time. Alonso rightfully gets lots of praise about his playstyle and how we dominate teams but considering that we were known serial bottlers with a notoriously weak mindset, this is seriously impressive as well. There are lots of coaches who are excellent tacticians and lots of coaches who are excellent man managers but not that many who combine both to a very high level. Alonso seems to be one of them.

You know he made the right decision when Richard "I slept with my 17 year old daughters best friend" Keys, Joe Cole and Paul Merson are saying you made a mistake.

But it was a done deal! Just like Mbappe and Bellingham going to Liverpool as well...

If you count the goals against Qarabag and Bayern we scored 7 times in added time to save 1 or three points. If you only count the games we won, there are 5 games we deciced (Augsburg, Leipzig, Hoffenheim, 2x Qarabag). Or am I missing a game?

I didn't count myself to be honest, I just quoted sportstudio and assumed they were reliable :) But yes, from the top of my head yours seems more accurate.

He’s going to be one of the best managers in the world

United should be thumping his door down

Yep just do the groundwork for the job after the next one. He'll probably be off to Bayern / RM but you don't survive long at either place and we can get him after.

City were a tiny club still when they got Pep. Noone thought we could get Pep let alone City and yet they did. It's about the prep work.

No chance he says yes to us
But why?

We’re one of the 3 biggest clubs in the world, playing in the most viewed league in the world, putting a structure in place for the first time post-SAF and I can’t imagine a bigger buzz than winning United their first title in over a decade. Then he can go to Madrid and do all that boring shit

The things I would do for this handsome motherfecker. What a man.

Given United seem to be targeting city execs, I wonder if they have their eyes on Guardiola himself after city’s cheating (hopefully) gets them in bother. Or Arteta who they’d have worked with and seems to be too good for Arsenal

Shoo all of you. :nono:

He is ours next.

Yeah but Madrid can get anyone and still win. Even if they get into bother, the government just bails you out. He could go to United and make an actual legacy for himself

His Liverpool history isn't irrelevant you know... Just because it happened 70 years ago doesn't mean it's the same world now. This summer he could pick Liverpool or Bayern, next summer he can pick Real Madrid, whichever he wants. Why would he come to United

Congrats @Zehner enjoy your league win. Hopefully Sporting does their part too. Sporting and Leverkusen winning the league, probably the end of the world coming

They'll celebrate this for some time. Brilliant season for them and Xabi Alonso

Why? Because he is very well affiliated with our biggest rival. He won't have a problem getting a gig at the other top clubs.

What a fantastic achievement for him and Leverkusen. I know he's not coming to us, but I'd definitely let his agent know that we're interested and would be willing to finance any project of his.

Xabi will be as great a manager as he was a player. So much class, so much football brain.
I guess he will be the successor of Anceloti, but whatever club can snatch him up will be a force for the next years.

Even if you see him in training, hard to dismiss a trainer who can still join a training session and from the outside you can´t point out that hes not a player anymore.
Additionally he was always the strategos as a player and transfered this to his coaching position seemlessly.
I think he brings all the benefits of a Zidane and on top a humble and disciplined nature that makes him just so likeabale.

For Man Utd that could really be the big turnaround. Especially since to get him you would need to take all his staff and he would be in a really strong position in the club.
What manager had really a strong position coming in, in the last years. Mostly they had to be happy to be signed.

Should have tried him in November!

I'm prepared to offer him Bulgaria (the country) to take over Manchester United.
