WWC23 | England v Spain - Spain win the World Cup - and Rubiales gets sacked

Shame for the England team but I was pretty impressed with Spain (despite the usual Spanish gamesmanship), good technical players and really played with the same identity as the men. Women's football has come a long way in recent years.

This was a bit sad. I find it funny watching the overrated men's team fail but I actually like the women's team. I think the best team won but they should still be proud of themselves for getting to a WC final, which is no easy thing to do.

I don’t really understand Lauren James tbh. She is very skilled but her style is pretty strange. Reminds me of Rashford a lot

Salty little sad cases will always be that way.
I suppose it's because of their location. I'm the same against Spanish teams. Although in women's football it's strange since they are indeed a likeable, non arrogant team.

Earps is incredible.

England never looked likely. Seems the occasion got to them. The hit and hope at the end was incredibly frustrating to watch and our best player on the ball (James) never got close to the ball, especially on any advanced position where she could affect the match. A bad day at the office, bad luck and commiserations girls.

One thing I've really enjoyed about watching women's football is the lack of cynicism - cheating, diving, feigning injury etc. They just get on with the game, it's so refreshing compared to the men's game. Then you watch this Spain side. Jesus.

I just can't stand Spanish teams. They were the better side today and deserved to win, but they can feck right off

It was really my impression - Spanish team gave me a lot of vibe of the old tiki taka that won men so much. It was a fun game to watch for a person that never followed women football

Well England didn’t decide the route. They did what they could do to win their group. France and Germany lost to the same teams you mentioned

100% correct. England did not nothing wrong at all. They were just lucky, I would argue that both Colombia and Australia had lost their steam by the time they played England. And France was better than Australia. Germany sucked big time though, still should have beaten Colombia of course.

Anyway, its tough to judge Englands tournament with the opposition they faced, but they still came up clutch to make it to the finals since there is lot of talent in the squad. Just wished we would have seen more elite match ups, thats whats most exciting.

The last 3 games I've watched, Australia vs England, Australia vs Sweden, and England vs Spain, I wanted the losing team to win. But the best side won.

Anyone else notice that the ref went to her pocket when that Spanish player kicked it away ang then realising it would be second yellow she stopped half way.

Spanish gonna shithouse :wenger:

It’s how they are raised!

Honestly I get the laughing at the men's team, but to laugh and get joy over women crying Is pretty pathetic.

Its probably because Russo the UNITED FAN, signed for Uniteds biggest rival Arsenal.

If Rashford had signed for City a month ago and england would have lost, I am sure some people would find joy in Rashford tearing up, so I think in that sense its pretty similar.

ManUnited - Quintessentially English

American owners
Dutch manager
Overwhelming majority of foreign playing staff.

Plus it's OK to have opinions
There is nothing wrong with having opinions. Nothing wrong with enjoying any England team be it mens or womens or anything lose.

What is interesting is, having so much hatred towards these people, who have done nothing other than outrageously being born in a country that you don't like. No one is winning here. Its just ridiculous.

Can you seriously enjoy seeing Rashford, Maguire, Shaw, Mount, etc etc lose and then a week after support them when playing for United?

It's pathetic man.

fecking Infantino wearing trainers with a suit and tie. What a twat.

At 1-0 down the occasion got to them and there was little to no composure, or any idea regarding an attacking threat. Was very strange. Our wing backs rarely got into the box too. That second half was terrible, and with 13mins added time i don't understand the hit and hope over the defence. Suprised at Sarina for not changing it.

I think the manager made a mistake with the changes. I could understand getting an extra body in midfield but taking Russo off just killed England offensively. Hemp who was the best player barely touched the ball in the second half.

Yep, aside from Earps she was the best player on the pitch today for me for England.

She played about 3 different positions in this game. So impressed with her. Yeah Earps side, she was England’s best player by some distance.
