WWC23 | England v Spain - Spain win the World Cup - and Rubiales gets sacked

On the penalty save, all the best goalkeepers are that far off their line for penalties. It’s just that they leave a foot trailing behind on the line. It must have been something that’s worked on now the rules are enforced more stringently.

If England doesn't tighten things up at the back, there will be a disaster against a more talented team.

I think it's one of those timing things that's always so tight that if you don't train with VAR you won't even know when you're getting it wrong.

Yeah that’s definitely a good point. There’s many times I’ve seen a penalty saved and I’m absolutely convinced the keeper was off the line only to see a leg hanging back in the replay. Probably another reason why takers do some sort of stutter in the run up.

Dumont looks a hell of a player. Only 19.
I mentioned her before the tournament. She will definitely end up at a top side. Her technical ability is great, didn’t look out of place against USA last year either. Will get picked up by one of the top French sides after this comp probably.

One issue that England will face this tournament which happens a lot in international football is the manager picking players she trusts from before rather than any possible alternatives who might be better at the moment.

It's been more of a match than it looked like it would be on on paper. England defending can only be described as shoddy. England need to find their footballing boots though - Haiti aren't just putting ten players in the penalty area blocking everything, it's a much more open game than that.

Think they miss Leah Williamson at the back, also makes you appreciate what Beth Mead brings in goalscoring.

A competitive match between one of the best (or at least one of the most hyped) teams in the world and supposed minnows like Haiti is a great advert for the women’s game. It’s been a enjoyable match so far.

England has at least 2 strikers that are better goal scorers than Russo, so no idea why Russo is starting this game! Hopefully she will be subbed soon.

Haiti not running out of steam yet. They've exposed England's weaknesses today.

Lauren James on for Hemp - it'll be interesting to see if she can get into the game.

Is it not time for Rachel Williams on for Russo? It usually happens around this minute ;)

Toone’s performance very similar to most of last season at United. Struggling to get involved and getting frustrated because of that, making her decision-making worse whenever she does get on the ball.

And to think Stoney denied Greenwood coming back to United when she returned to England :D What a legend Casey is! Stoney does not feck around!

Hard watch this. Bit like England under Capello at a world cup.

Just arrived home and switched it on. Has the whole game been like this?

Reminds me of utd under LVG. Lots of possession but no idea what to do with it. No cutting edge.
