WWC23 | England v Spain - Spain win the World Cup - and Rubiales gets sacked

Japan showing just how to deal with Spain. Spain spending too much time going sideways and never creating anything going forward. Japan sit patiently and when they get the chance charge forward at pace.

Similarities with how Jupp Heynckes' Bayern Munich smashed Barcelona in 2013 or with how Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid did exactly the same to Pep's Bayern Munich a year later.

The cowards Spain tanking because they knew they’d get knocked out in the next round if they won the group.

That's going to be a real shock to the system (literally) for Spain. Japan judged the game exactly right and they were extraordinarily clinical on the break.

I think the real worry for Spain should be how little they created. Looked completely devoid of ideas on how to break Japan down. They’re going to have the same issues in every game from here on as they’ll dominate possession against anyone.

Raso gets it in the net and VAR says it's onside.

Wide player looked well offside on the initial replay, I assume that was just a trick of the camera and the far defender in the centre circle was level with her?

Hope Aussies go through, tournament will lose a bit if they join New Zealand in going out in the groups.

Help me out a bit. Both Canada and Australia need to win to go through to the next round, right?

the absolute panic is palpable when Ireland get near the opponents goal - in every game.

They will never score in open play until they calm down

A draw gets Canada through and Australia out. A win for Australia probably sees Canada go out (they would depend on Ireland winning)

This is fecking pathetic. And Canada will crash out of a World Cup with a whimper again.

Priestman OUT.

VAR asking Stéphanie Frappart to have a look. What could that be? A foul?

edit: Goal disallowed because of offside.

Funny I thought that was actually onside but gets ruled out after check. She was ahead of the keeper but looked to be two defenders level?

Aussies look like they're going to save themselves. What's happened to Canada?

feck this fecking team, feck this fecking coach, and feck those fecking players for proving me how fecking mentally weak of a bunch they are.

F:mad::mad::mad:!!!

Btw, the VAR room and judge are truly unbiased when they negated that 2-0 goal for Australia, that was a real piece shit work by VAR. Exactly how the system should never be used!

Absolutely no quality in this game. A terrible, terrible watch
Really? That's harsh, Zebs. I thought Ireland played some decent football that half. There's the odd horrendous moment which colours things a bit.

I thought it was a great call, attacker was offside and blocked defender being able to block the shot. It was a very clear offside once shes deemed to be offside as shes 100% interfering.

I think we looked a lot better in the first two games. We look absolutely bereft of ideas today and any time we do get in to a semi decent position the final ball is terrible or someone inexplicably miscontrols it. Yet we've been the better team.
