I don't think it's a big shock he's been dropped for 2 games and it's the best 2 games we've played for quite a while.

If Rashford is injured though I worry we'll have to go back to Weghorst.

Not if Martial stays fit.

But… yeah….

 Yeah.

I wouldn't be shocked if they just don't trust Martial to start games for the rest of this season and they go with Weghorst starting and then Martial coming on for the last half hour.

Better to just have 30 mins of Martial every game until the summer than have him start 3 or 4 games and then get injured for the rest of it.

That was weird. Didnt even really jump did he? He looks like the classic big and tall target man but he isnt that at all.
I like him, but he is rather useless for anything at this level, be it his skills or height or size, except running around. We had a thread about tall players playing for us, and some people were getting excited for his height and size, although a few posters warned that he was shit in the air.

I cannot recall a player with his physical attributes being so poor in the air.
Barely gets off the ground and is muscled off it if challenged by another player - not just the opposing centre half. We have even started to take corners short so we can try to create some space in the box before delivery in - and even then the wide player often chooses to continue to play it short. He presses - but without regaining possession too often.

A signing that was made with good intentions against a mediocre overall situation- but surely he will not be retained beyond June (if we get to the FA cup final).

He and Maguire are just not very good footballers. Seeing these 2 on the pitch for us always makes me wonder how the hell they managed to come that far.

Man Utd 2:2 Sevilla
I wanted so much for Weghorst to succeed but, let's face it, he's awful. There were two times tonight where he got the ball in the box, could have shot, yet chose to give the responsibility to someone else. A true #9 shifts the ball and shoots. Whatever else he offers he just ain't it for us up top.

He couldn't even lay it off to malacias left foot for the first time shot. He played it to his right

I’m done with him. Terrible footballer. He is only usefulf as a targetman and he can’t even do that correctly. It was 2-0 and he gets the ball inside Sevillas box with his back to the goal and both Eriksen and Malacia is completely open behind him. He just have to make a simple pass and he decides to pass it to Malacias right foot. His pass is so fecking bad that Malacia can’t get a proper shot off…

that was my initial thought. Like i get the idea to lay it off, but holy hell you are what 5 yards out with nobody directly on your back. Turn and put it in

He seriously backheeled it to a LB when he was about 8 yards from the goal line, clown

He chose the wrong person to pass it to. Elanga was right there with an open goal. It's a pivotal mistake.

Just no. If he's had the pace of a dying sloth and the positional sense of a blind mole-rat, he could've scored tonight.

That was perhaps the worst of the lot for me amongst all our poor passes in the second half (most of them from Sancho and Malacia).

He offers nothing at all. Might as well play a youngster who can still improve of all we want is pressing. I don't care about Europa, but we are in serious trouble in the league with the injuries piling up.

Martial is made of glass and the injury to Rashford means this guy will play a lot more. Stuff of nightmares.

I know it's not right but I actually hate him. It's not his fault that he's shite but he's comfortably the worst United player I've ever seen. And Ten Hag keeps giving him minutes, which leads to doubts over him creeping in too.

I don’t think I’d give any of the lads too much stick for tonight, but I think it’s fair to say this guy simply shouldn’t play. He’s not even that bad a footballer, he just can’t move. If he was a little shorter and faster he’d be decent,.

He needed to play it around to Elanga for was 5 yards away and it would have been a tap in. Absolutely woeful footballer. Cannot believe this is the guy who we went for to get bodies in. Murtough and the entire scouting system can get to feck if this is the best option they could have thought of.

This guy is a disaster on legs. That chance that fell to him in the box should've been game over. I hope to feck Martial can stay fit because we're in serious trouble if Weghorst has to start for us again

He needed to turn and shoot. He chose the worst option and executed it poorly

Based on what? His passing, hold up play, shooting - all are average to terrible. If all that was needed to succeed for United was to be short and fast, we wouldn't need scouts anymore.

While I don't disagree about him not doing well when he came on, I don't think it's fair to slate him this game. Martial needed to be sub off at midway through second half at 2-0. Situational he is (subpar) what he is. Tactically his sub is understandable. Add some height (defend set piece), and workrate to see out the game.

Just rotten luck with our second half.

God awful player, and he's even worse as a sub. There's not a single thing about him as a footballer that poses a threat to any defender that is not completely handicapped, and the teams we're facing can just put more pressure on us playing a higher line.

Just... just no. The downgrade from Martial to him is ridiculous, and it's not like Martial is some world-class centre-forward - but he can actually perform the basics of football at a respectable level.

If Ten Hag even considers signing him permanently... but surely not.

I thought 'defensive winger' was a new idea 10 years ago, now our Wout is trending the 'defensive striker' role

Been watching United since 1995 and he is one of the most limited footballers I have ever seen. Cant even win a header or hold the ball up despite being a giant. Guy is a basketball player not footballer

I only said he’d be decent, I don’t think he’d be up there with Haland. I think his ability isn’t terrible, average is probably fair. He’s scored a lot of goals in his career, it just doesn’t seem like he’s able to move to get on the end of the good passes that get played through for him, he’d clearly be a lot more effective if he could move.

No, he'd still be terrible for us. There's a reason he was loaned out of even the Championship as he is just not good enough and Burnley are flying. He is not good enough to even be a PL striker, let alone decent enough for us no matter how you change his physical stature. He doesn't have the skills.

He makes Martial look like R9. The perfect wingman.

Impressive to see he’s even worse as a sub than he is as a starter.

He’s not a PL level footballer. I bet you even Burnley wouldn’t want him back next season. Awful in every single conceivable way. It’s like watching a fan running around out there. Painful.

Allergic to goals.

Another striker could have bagged at least 1 with some of the chances he was present.

Ten Hag needs to stop playing him.

If he had a modicum of awareness or vision, he would have squared it to Elanga and we would have been 3-0 up. At his size, his lack of goal scoring threat and subpar athleticism should be made up for by his hold-up play, but he can't even provide that.

I'm sick of the sight of him. As soon as he comes on all our fluidity disappears and we start to lose control of the game. His one big chance he lays it off to the wrong side of Malacia. He is atrocious. One of the very few who when you say they're not PL level, it's not hyperbole.

A great striker backheels that chance he got into goal, a good striker lays it off to Eriksen for an easy smash in, an average striker lays it off to Malacia’s strong foot so he could take the shot first time. Wout bloody Workhorse put it on to Malacia’s right, the famed link up play we’ve read about so much in this thread.

There’s also the chance where he was bloody slow to react to that fizzled out to the corner. Someone who could trap that and it was at least an 1on1.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I bear no ill will towards the guy, it’s not his fault that he’s a shit footballer, but we should just stop playing him full stop and it will be a travesty if he’s still here past this season.

He wasn’t loaned from Burnley because he wasn’t good enough for the Championship.
Going to have to agree to disagree mate, I think if he could move he’d be a decent striker, he’d certainly have scored more for us.

If we are going to use him for me it's last 15 minutes when we are defending a game so he can press their back line.

Giving him 30 minutes just makes us a worse side.
