Whatever about him being #1 choice (because I can understand people having doubts about him making the step up to a club like ours), would anyone disagree that he's the option with the biggest potential upside? Of all the names we're throwing around, his style of football is easily the best if it does end up working.

He's definitely the profile of manager we should be looking at. We've tried and failed with the old guard of legendary managers, and with the ex-player route, so our next strategy should be to take a risk at an exciting modern coach.
The board won't see it that way though and will be chasing Zidane and Conte while Ten Hag ends up somewhere like Barca or City.

I think the comparisons with LVG are lazy tbh. Two managers from different eras, LVG preferring a back 5, and Ten Hag opting for a fluid 4-3-3. The only thing they have in common is their nationality.

Yeah he’s probably my favorite to replace Ole, considering all other options. But I don’t see it happening.
Conte is fine, not an over reliance on technique / possession or anything like that. More of a pragmatist. Tuchel is similar as well.
Any of the German types of the Flick, Klopp, Nagelsmann school of thought can also be a good transition from Ole-ball but haven't seen any names other than Nagelsmann / Rose who are both unattainable right now.
The Guardiola / Ajax school of technique above all else is not the only way to play football.
Maybe .. I wonder how Rashford would do in the City side. His first touch and control when receiving the ball under pressure are pretty erratic. Sometimes he has Berbatov like control from long balls and sometimes he miscontrols a pass played to feet. His strengths are his pace and movement and we use that very well.
Bruno could be good. His technique is solid, typical of Spanish / Portuguese attacking mid. If you rein in his urge to try risky passes, he could be good even in a possession team.
Ajax are playing a properly coached and functioning 4-2-3-1 where everyone knows their role and team tactics, Ten Hag also plays 4-3-3 as I’ve seen with Ajax in past few seasons and it’s the same thing as Ten Hag is actually a great COACH.

Also, and this is a minor benefit, if Ten Hag did arrive then VDB would suddenly become a legit option in midfield rather than the non-entity he currently is. However good you do or don't think VDB is, he's a player who can play in our weakest position who would already know and be able to function in Ten Hag's set-up, which would immediately make him more useful than he currently is.
Tbh any competent coach coming in would make VDB a competent option. Ole just doesn't know how to use his talents and defaults to his trusted McFred pivot.

Ten Hag isnt really much like Pep, Ajax' possession looks nothing like Barcelona's or City. Ten Hag is much more direct.
Sancho, Bruno, Rashford, Greenwood would love him. Fred, AWB would probably be binned first day, de Gea potentially as well.
