Would you take Rangnick back (As a DOF and NOT a manager)?

If we're hiring DoFs then no we can do better. If it's a decision in a vacuum between Murtough and him then yes. Look whose assessment on our state is getting vindicated. So called captain obvious suggestions that were so obvious that we did the complete opposite.

I don't understand what some United-supporters sees in him, he pointed out obvious problems with the squad? Yeah, but i mean, anyone could do that.

I guess the current structure didn't get the memo then

Wasn't that suppose to be the original plan? Think ten Hag didn't want to work with him.

He warned us that the manager couldn't build a team alone. After some of these transfers Ten Hag needed a DoF more than anyone at the club.

I agree we need a DOF, Ragnick maybe the one, I don't really know, but the question is irrelevant if ten Hag refuses to work with him.

Certainly not. Never understood the fuss about this guy and his tenure at United was disastrous.

He is good at building up smaller clubs. He should go to Salford or FC United.

Ten Hag is not Fergie, we can't give him complete control. Our director of football is Murtough, and Rangnick was supposed to be a consultant. Why is our manager deciding whether Rangnick should consult Murtough or not?

Murtough and Rangnick were apparently barely speaking by the end of the season, the ten Hag line seems like a convenient excuse to end it tbh.

Rangnick has build to clubs/club networks from the ground of lower league football on the trajectory to CL football (Hoffenheim and RB clubs lead by Leipzig). That's what people hope for - that he could build a club structure from scratch and just get rid of the current dysfunctional United setup.

Which isn't a typical DoF role, it is far more special. He definitely is a prick and loves himself speaking too much, which is why he is a bad fit as DoF for every decently organised club and didn't work in the role after leaving RB. There just are few projects that need someone like that.
This exactly.

Plus as far as I read, Ralf wants quite a lot of power before accepting a job. Wasn't that, what prevented him from getting a similar job at Milan?

100% I would, I thought he was great. It was Erik that didn't want him.

ETH got rid of him because of him saying the players are rubbish/owners are shite . Now ETH is starting to realise he was right

My dream team.
1)Marina Granovskaia as negotiator for player transfer and sales.

2) Director of Football whose job is more than just identifying players, together with the manager. But who has to through delegation ensure every United team beneath the first team squad is managed and playing in the right way. This goes all the way down to our youngest age group. So he will be hiring and firing coaches and managers of our under 21, under 18 and youth teams. He will also be signing players that are close to joining the first team and those 2-10 years away from being in the first team squad. This could be Ragnick, but while he he’s great at identifying players and knows the style of play. He is a bit crap at identifying coaches.

So we have DoF managing overall Manchester United for medium and long term. Manager managing United first team squad for short, medium and ideally long term in liaison with DoF for player acquisition and how the team will line up in 2-3 season. Who will be out, who will replace say for example Varane in a 2 years.

Marina negotiates all transfers. Keeps us FFP compliant. Makes sure we don’t get ripped off for purchases and sales
Haha this is such a random plug for Marina.

Id rather we went looking for someone new to fill our roles instead of continuing to eat out of the proverbial bin.

No! ETH isnt to blame for the non stop individual errors blighting our play and neither is he to blame for the injury problems. The injury probs will sort themselves out but I wish I could say the same for the constant cock ups. ETH needs time, sacking him now, next year or at the end of the season wont help anybody.

He would want full control and under glazers that's not happening. It will just be ugly.

Murtough and Rangnick were apparently barely speaking by the end of the season, the ten Hag line seems like a convenient excuse to end it tbh.
Hmm, I hadn't heard that. It does still baffle me, though. Although Murtough is experienced, Rangnick is much more experienced and has more connections. I would happily have Rangnick in place of Murtough. Maybe Arnold wanted an Englishman who knows the national youth setup to be our DOF.

The premise of this is laughable to begin with.

Ralf isn't hot property. That's why he landed in a mediocre international job. I don't even think that's to do with his abject failure as our interim manager. He just isn't that sought after, football moves on and if you haven't done anything lately not many are going to care about a few decent gigs for Red Bull. Ralf Rangnick is a fairly mediocre DOF candidate at this stage of his career. The top candidates are those excelling at current clubs in the role, with a demonstrable recent history of adding huge value to their clubs in the market. Particularly strong candidates would have a profile for a club of a similar stature, but probably not an absolute as long as the track record is near faultless.

Ralf needs to be put out to pasture. He's nothing special and was absolutely horrendous here so it is very confusing to me that some people keep harping on about him just because he delivered some supposedly "brave" home truths. Who cares, it's what you deliver and he hasn't delivered much here or elsewhere in recent times.

She did a fantastic job at Chelsea not just in negotiating transfers but also commercial deals.
I feel like she was ok - Chelsea bought a lot of bad players alongside the good ones and paid big contracts. More random because she’s tied to Roman so it’s not like she’s someone who has moved around and is an actual ‘candidate’ for these jobs.

I don't understand what some United-supporters sees in him, he pointed out obvious problems with the squad? Yeah, but i mean, anyone could do that.
He's also suggested several players to the club including Nkunku who the club apparently didn't have a report on. The club decided not to sign any of his suggested players.

He'd do a better job than Murtough although he's probably not the best in class (anymore) that we should be looking for.

I’ve so little faith in everyone currently above the manager that I’d be up for giving someone on here a stab at it

Why not? At this point I'd back myself to do a job for us.

I would take anyone over Ten Hag right now. His player I.D is questionable to say the least.

Well, he wanted Alvarez and Caicedo before they were got by our rivals and proved to be good players.

Just on that he's been proven more capable than anything Murtough has done

That's exactly why he should have been listened to

I possibly would but any DoF from the outside wouldn’t happen while the Glazers remain here because the Glazers don’t want their boat rocked. Their internal appointments are two or three degrees of separation from the Glazers themselves. They just want to cash the cheque and blindly throw money at it when it’s in trouble.

They just want people who smile, say yes a lot and don’t do anything that upsets their activities.

Yeah no point getting a DOF unless those leeches sell up and feck off, very much like there is zero point in sacking Erik either

I don’t know enough about Ralf to know whether he possesses the requisite genius for the job, but I am convinced the new owner needs to clean house.

But we may stuck with the Glzaers for years. Many years.
