Would you take Koeman?

Yeah easily, would have been a much tougher fight during his prime but I’d wipe the floor with him these days.

It's amusing so many people laugh off the suggestion when Fergie described Koeman as the most gifted manager of his generation. At his last leadership talk at Harvard he said very few clubs are willing to implement the top down changes and complete vision that Koeman would want which is why he will struggle to succeed at the largest clubs - just as we've seen with Barcelona. He said his one regret was not bringing in Koeman as an assistant manager when he had the chance so he could take over with the full backing of the board. They even discussed how Old Trafford and all it's facilities would need modernising and expanding to keep ahead of the growing league with Koeman producing architectural prints to achieve this back in 2010.

Last thing we should be looking for right now when hiring a manager is: "Fergie said". By gone era.

Fergie, bless his cotton socks, also claimed Phil Jones was the best central defender of his generation.

Why would we. Has he been even remotely successful at any of his clubs. So no.

Naa, thought he was good at Southampton but Everton and Barca stint were so bad .

If we want a caretaker, get Wenger in

Would you bang Angela Raynor? It’s a bit desperate, isn’t it?

It's not just what he said. It's what he wrote. Fergie wrote a book on Koeman in 2015 called "Koeman: Conquering Man" where he detailed his upbringing and hardships that led to the person we know now. He studied Koeman as a scientist might do with groundbreaking data. He talks about living with Koeman for a year and trying to understand how he operates, analysing every facet of his daily routine to better know the man being the Koeman.

I would say Fergie after his experiences would know better than us and he himself remarked he likely wouldn't have achieved half as much in his own managerial career if it wasn't for the one constant motivation of winning as much as possible before Koeman would inevitably win the rest.

No. And the further away Fergie gets from our managers the better it is for the club.

No. I'd rather have Roy Hodgson, Big Sam, heck even Ronnie Pickering.

Pretty sure he's had more than enough of toxic fans, he alluded to as much the other day when he was accosted outside Camp Nou. The next club he goes to will be in calm waters.

Only if he has Luke Chadwick and Jonatan Greening in his coaching staff.

Those were just claims. He ended the Harvard talk by ushering in the students around the assembly to come closer and then rolled up his shirt to reveal a full Koeman portrait sleeve tattoo on his arm. You don't just make those sorts of commitments on a whim.

Of course. With the idea of sacking him a month later just to teach United fans that sacking managers is completely ok, and there is no need for the cult of the manager.

I don't want a caretaker boss because I don't trust the owners/board to not be dumb enough to give them a 3 year contract when they win a few games.
I get the logic but there's no guarantee a permanent boss would get the new manager bounce and then not fall off a cliff either. Isn't winning games all you can ask of whoever comes in?

Yes, only as a caretaker for this season and if he has zero say in the transfer business.

To be fair he has more top club experience than Ole had when he got the job

As a caretaker boss?

hahaha out of the frying pan into the fire?
