Everyone is talking about how United will add Sancho, Rice or Varane into the team, but Glazers will at most give a transfer kitty of 100 million pounds. No more than that.
Good luck trying to get Conte to come in and work with this budget. He is better off resting for a year and the economy recovers and he is off to Real Madrid or PSG.

Feck off with this Knee Jerk nonsense, bunch of clowns some of you outers on here.

Clear progress, a phenomenal away record in the league. Yeah, lets sack the manager. Idiots!
Yes only two factors should be taken into account with one of the factors being completely subjective. Brilliant sales pitch though I’ll give you that.

On the positive side. He'd light a fire under players and not be afraid of pointing the finger at the Glazer's if they don't improve the squad.

The press conferences would be entertaining as hell. Don't get me started on the discussions here on the Caf. The mods would have to work overtime.

Yes.

He almost guarantees a league title.

Cant believe people are saying no.
People said the same about Jose. “The inevitable circus is worth it for a title”, then look what happened. I can’t be dealing with another defensive coach.

He is about winning blah blah, yes he is but then he fecks off after about 2 years and will absolutely stop the progression of Amad, Mejbri, Elanga, Greenwood, but yay winning at all costs is all that matters to the detriment of any sort of long term progression.

Our aim as a club should be on winning but let's not turn into a soulless club with no romance or identity with our only main concern being who the next manager who might win something is and then if he doesn't and its just rinse repeat for the next flavour of the month you cannot run a football club this way its like the last 7 years lurching from Moyes to LvG to Jose didn't happen. If we are going to replace Ole it needs to be with a manager who has the same principles promoting youth, same footballing identity etc otherwise what we just carve up the team every 3 years and waste even more money than the 3 managers before Ole did and fail to progress the young players we have also because you have to win rather than a long term goal to win and young players are inconsistent.

No. Ole is not right long term but he's a better fit than Conte would be.

No, it'll just be Jose round 2.

I'm not sure Ole is the answer, actually after last night I'm pretty sure he's not. But we need a manager who wants to continue and build on Oles progress. I genuinely think we're only a few signings and some tactical nous away from competing.

That being said, another poor summer and we'll be going into game day 38 fighting Leicester for 4th.

What’s this nonsense about him being a defensive manager? His teams are just good at defending. His problem is that he’s mental and his transfers might Be exactly what United don’t need.

Nah.

He's a good manager. But the best thing about the Solskjaer-era so far has been the idea that we've undergone a cultural reset (true or not).

I have zero problem with Solskjaer leaving, but whoever we bring in should also fit that reset, as I'm not willing to torpedo the only real area of progress again. The club having an identity and self-image is important as it helps maintain consistency. I don't see Conte fitting that and caretaker Ole will do for the time being if nobody else available does.

I certainly have no time for the idea that you bring in a "winner", because that's a phantom quality derived from tangible (and varied) things managers can actually do. Better to centre discussion around those more tangible aspects rather than vague platitudinous phrases. Lots of managers are "winners", until suddenly they aren't.

It doesn’t matter. The cult of Ole will continue. We don’t want Conte because he is a defensive coach but Ole playing two defensive midfielders most games is not a sign of a defensive coach apparently. Would Conte have brought Fred on for Greenwood in an attempt to break down their defence? I get that Conte’s football is not exciting to most but the suggestion we are better off under Ole is ludicrous.

I would have been completely opposed to this if we were in need of a rebuild and needing serious reinforcement. I think we have the players that suit his style and most of them are in our current starting 11. I've watched Inter at times and I dont see how you can call Conte defensive and say Ole is not. That said I would love for us to continue this project Ole has started and I dont think Conte is right for that

I would have 100% been all for him back when Mourinho left but feel we would once again be going from one extreme to another like how we went from van gaal style and transfer policy to then complete opposite with Mourinho's and then ole going in different direction to Mourinho which has left our squad all over the place and can imagine conte reverting the club back to a player/transfer preference similar to Mourinho again.

Zidane would be the better choice as he has shown he is willing to work with young players

Jose did this. Sacked.

Anyway, Ole has more than once called for 2 or 3 signings to improve the squad and somehow that’s forgotten

No, easy question.

It's taken us 2 summers to clear a lot of deadwood and there still are players who you want to get rid of.

Hiring Conte means we end up with more players who'd end up as deadwood in a few years time. I think we've seen the downsides of taking short-cuts in rebuilding and Conte is as bad as Mou, if not worse than him, when it comes to buying these short-term players.

He's a vastly better manager than Ole but I wouldn't take him. Not a fan of his football or taste in players.

I absolutely rate him as a manager. But with our owners it is a recipe for disaster. Zidane will be a better choice.

I've got no idea why he has this reputation as a defense-only coach - it's very odd. Because he favours 3 at the back systems? The modern game is all about having a cohesive front 5 you can attack with and Conte has implemented that wherever he goes.

As an oppo I'd be shitting myself if United got Conte. Seems likely bound for Madrid though.
He has the cuntiness of Mourinho but without the charm, I think that’s why Jose got away with it (when he was at his top level which is similar-ish to where Conte is at the moment). That in and of itself leaves an impression peoples mind and narratives get draw stronger = e.g. back 5 negative.

Does he fight with his own players like Mourinho? If not, I don't care if he calls out the Glazers, the refs, or the FA.

I'd rather employ some proven world class coaches and have Ole manage them to see where we go.

Not a fan of his playing style but we could do much worse,he's the anti-Mourinho in that he doesn't stay long at a club but he'll 100% win you the league while he's there and all his players love him.

Still if I had a choice between available managers I'd opt for the one who's even more decorated and just left Real Madrid...

In a heartbeat 5 domestic titles in 7 years and more importantly he’s won the PL with 90 points And a Chelsea squad no better than our current one , with maybe the exception of prime Hazard who he fell out with from time to time just like Diego Costa !
Conte not scarred to call out star players, has got a tune out of Pogba before and more importantly will tell Bruno, Rashford, De Gea and Maguire whose actually in charge, plus the headaches he will cause the Glaziers is worth all the pain he’ll leave us with in 2 to 3 years , he’ll probably win 2 trophies in that time which is more than ole will win in 22 years !!
Could easily see Conte playing 3-4-1-2with a few signings like Koulibaly, Trippier, Sancho
D Henderson

Wan Bissaka
H Maguire
Koulibaly or Varane

Trippier
Mctominay
Pogba
L Shaw

Bruno

Sancho
Cavani

2nd 11 who he would play frequently
T Heaton

E Bailey
A Tuanzebe
V Lindeloft

A Telles
Fred
D v D Beek
E Laird

Greenwood
Martial
Rashford

He would probably sanction the sales of De Gea, Lingard, Pereirra , Dalot , T Chong and Jones or Lindeloft hoping to get 70 to 80m to add to the 80m available , I mean he may want Lukaku back but should be happy with the squad since he was always raving about our squad when manager of Chelsea so much so, he bought Darmian, Sanchez, Lukaku and Ashley Young plus he’d probably keep Mata and Matic and use them much more than ole has !

One of Conte's strengths, he knows how to use his squad which is Ole's biggest weakness.

How is he a better fit.
Either he is capable of taking United back to the top or he isn't.

Conte would fill the squad with deadwood and old folk, win a trophy or two, fall out with the board and leave. All within the space of a couple of years. He's a good coach but we want to plan for the long term and Conte is the opposite of that.

Agreed.

Due to the reasons he left Inter, it would make no logical sense for him to come to Utd.

How would Conte line us up with the current squad?

DDG
Lindelof Maguire Shaw
James Pogba Fred Telles
Bruno
Cavani Rashford

Something like this?

He left Inter because they're in financial turmoil and are going to need a firesale this summer, likely losing some of their best players in the process.

What about that is similar to United?

His work with Chelsea to win the title was extremly impressive.

He did not need a huge number of signings, but 2 strategic ones. Kante and David Luiz.

He got Costa to perform at world class level and he could do the same with Cavani.

He would get Rashford and Greenwood up to speed for sure.

Also we could becomes defensivly very solid under him if we added another central defender etc.

Brilliant idea, we can bring in Conte for some short term success, and then when he inevitably leaves after a tantrum we can bring in an club legend ex player to steady the ship to deal with the smoking ruin he leaves.

Why didn't United think of this before?
