I suspect Bissaka would be the biggest casualty of Conte taking over, as he'd adopt the wingback system and Bissaka is simply not efficient enough in attack to make it work. New RB/RWB in January would probably be the priority along with a new midfielder or two.

That said, our squad isn't really suited to 3-5-2 as we simply have too many (and good) wingers.

Just for fun, wondering how we'd play if he took over. Given he loves a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3, and these were his common lineups at Chelsea and Inter:
Courtois
Azpi Luiz Cahill
Moses Kante Matic Alonso
Pedro Costa Hazard

Handanovic
Skriniar De Vrij Bastoni
Brozovic
Hakimi Barella Eriksen/Vidal Perisic
Lukaku Lautoro

So given that, I'd guess:

De Gea
Lindelof Varane Maguire
AWB Matic/McTom Fred/Pogba Shaw
Bruno/Sancho
Ronaldo/Cavani Rashford/Mason
I think:

De Gea
Varane - Maguire - Shaw
Dalot - Fred - Pogba - Telles
Sancho - Cavani/CR7 - Rashford

Don't know where to put Bruno, AWB or Greenwood.

Yeah equating Conte who worst offence is probably bad defensive football to Giggs who abuse women, that's not remotely the same

Personality types. They're both insufferable personality types. I know you understood that.

AWB will be the first causality with any new manager. Do you think Zidane or Ten Hag would prefer him ? Name one major club who has a worse right back than us.

Ten Hag, Conte, Zidane would be my order. If Ten Hag can't come in now, hire Conte for 18 months and see where it takes.

You’re trolling saying you’d prefer Giggs over Conte.

Same as you’ve trolled Utd fans by posting pics of Ole smiling in debates about his utter failure as a manager.

You deserve to be called out on it.

I don't like either people as a person.

I haven't really been trolling have I? I posted a photo in a Ole discussion forum. Of course some people get triggered by that but that's their problem surely?

You didn't call me out on anything, you told me to feck off.

Conte did win the Premier League in his opening campaign at Chelsea in 2016-17 and the FA Cup the following year. Different league of manager to Ole.

He'd have a bigger chance under Zidane or Ten Haag than under Conte, that's for sure.

Still, I was not trying to sound concerned about Bissaka's playing time in my previous post. He deserves to be benched in any system as he's a bang average footballer.

He doesn't take prisoners and I prefer that as a manager to that feelgood shit show lately

It always goes in cycles. We went from Jose to Ole because we wanted a manager who has good player relationships and then we want to go from Ole to Conte because it takes a hard man to get performances.

Conte is a real manager. A top one in my opinion. Is he the perfect fit? No but he would definitely make us look more structured and effective.

This would be my concern too.

Then again, I'm reminded of how we used to describe Mourinho as pragmatic when actually he was quite dogmatic, often seeming to force his rigid idea of how to play on the team when it clearly didn't fit.

If Conte is actually pragmatic he may well look at our squad and come to the same conclusion, that 3-5-2 isn't the right approach with this group of players and try something else. It's not like he's never used other formations before, after all.

Ten Hag is a Dutch manager with his focus on ball retention and quick passing (aka Pep, Cruyff). I have no idea how he will survive . Zidane might stick with him

I didn’t actually, I said IF you can’t get behind a manager then you’re free to feck off and support someone else.

I didn’t tell you to feck off. There’s a difference.

Your trolling of frustrated Utd fans during Ole’s decline has been blatantly obvious. I’m not the only person who’s noticed it.

And then throwing Giggs in there with Conte is distasteful given the accusations / charges upon Giggs.

He plays 343 too. None of our players are actually wingers. They are wide forwards, suitable for a 3 man attack.

We lack one right back who can attack to play 3 man defence. But that's a glaring weakness for any new manager. Any modern Manager will look to sign a right back, as soon as they take over.

So why would Conte change that if it's so good ?
Do you not think Contes very personality and nature would change everything in terms of dynamics? Even though I think we've got a good team, does it fit with how Conte would like to play? I'm not sure it does. I'm just not convinced he's the right man for right now even though I really rate him as a manager.

Yeah a new RB and at least one CM will be required no matter which manager we bring in.

Conte can transform this squad into a title winning one, i'm pretty sure of that. I've already given up on this season, he can come in, bring his trusted coaches as well, establish pattern of play, organize this shambles of a defence and then we wreck the bin clubs next year. If he has a meltdown with the Glazers after that, just sack him, I don't care. But at this point we need success and we won't find that sticking with Ole, that's for sure.

Going from LvG to Mourinho to Ole to Conte, is just the kind of thing why Man Utd have looked clueless for years. We cant swing between different types of coaches again and again.

I'd rather have Zidane in(similar to Ole, but better in everyway), or Ten Haag although I feel like he is the new Nagelsman/Rose(hipster manager).

The amount of arrogance to say that we would not take Conte is mind-boggling. He's a world-class, proven manager who rebuilt Juventus.

He would be a god send. The "United" way is out-dated.

This. 100% this.

Poll should be refreshed given it was started in May and we have a completely different squad now and are in a different situation.

5-3-2? No thanks!

You would need 2 good wingbacks wich we do not have and you would need a balanced midfield wich we do not have. Then you would have to do even more transfers to fit the team setup.

The rebuilding would be endless.

People who would say "No" to Conte at this point in time probably need to understand football better.

He's not the perfect manager, he won't stay here for more than two or three years (maximum), but he's probably the best fit among the "available" managers at this point in time.

My personal preference is Poch. He knows the English game, loves to attack, and, by all accounts, isn't too thrilled with life in Paris.

Yes we really really want another manager for only 2-3 years! Not like we are trying to build something stable at the club.

He’s not ideal, but he’s way way better than Ole.What’s the alternative?Suffer a horrendous season, finish outside the top 4 and then wait for Pochettino to become available next summer? My 1st choice would be Pochettino and maybe I would be more sensible to wait until the summer to make a change. But I”m so upset right now,it feels like Conte taking over would be better than Ole staying put….

The same approach has worked just fine for Chelsea.

Zidane did a fantastic job at keeping the engine ticking over at Real. That club was already a finely tuned Ferrari, and in his hands he managed to keep it on track.

But United is more like a kit car whose engine is stalling. The parts are all there, but none of it works as a whole. Is he capable of getting his hands dirty to fix it? I don't think there's any evidence to suggest that he has the necessary tools.

I worry that Zidane is more of a Dalglish type of manager (won the league early on with Liverpool but ultimately failed as a manager).

I would rather wait until next summer and sign Pochettino.Pochettino would be my 1st choice….The job he did at Tottenham was absolutely stupendous….Let’s get him next summer rather than doing something knee jerk right now….

Going from Ole to Conte is a lot easier than going from Ole to Ten Hag.

If Ten Hag comes in, he needs to undo Jose and Ole's work almost completely

Of course you take him over the incumbent. That's an easy one. The real (and much more difficult) question is do you take him over all other possible options.

Even if he is a good fit (and that's something reasonable people may disagree about), it doesn't necessarily follow that he's the best fit.

I don’t know much about it, but I’ve seen it suggested that Zidane’s second spell at Real is pretty much exactly the type of evidence you’re looking for there.
