We lost a couple of games when the players were clearly short of fitness due to the curtailed pre-season. Other than that we've been excellent since February. Literally months of good football. 10 away wins in a row in all competitions.

Surely people can just get behind him now? The Miguel Delaney's and Duncan Castle's of this world make enough assassination attempts on him without our supporters doing it too.

He's showing huge managerial potential. We've come on an absolute mile over the last 12 months. We should be excited by the possibilities in front of us. Time to put up a United front, drop this Pochettino nonsense and support him properly.

What I really like about last two games is, if he’s starting with Fred and McT, he’s got options both ways to change games now. More defensive? Matic. More attack? Pogba, VdB. If he trusts the squad more, instead of posting the Same 11, the lot might surprise him. It’s a long, hectic season. We need a lot of feking players in form. Hope he does well this year.

Winning champions league. What a bold statement.

Tuchel has been heavily criticised by PSG fans before even you posted that, and even criticised for the game against Atalanta for his tactic at the start of the match. PSG never fancy him mate, the game against Bayern last season was a clear as day who was gonna win that final. Pretty sure everyone including you predicted Bayern to win it.

What’s that got to do with what I said? Tunchel’s biggest complaint is they aren’t investing properly in his team. Did that not show today? He’s very much up for debate his team doesn’t impress me or his line up. But don’t tell me people wouldn’t have judged him different if he won the Champions League. I said they would judge him different if they won it and he got them to the final. Also.. Atlanta is a very good football team.

Everything is always so exaggerated on here. When we lose he’s the world’s worst manager and needs sacking as soon as possible. When we win he deserves a 10 year contact extension and a statue.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

a 5 year contract and a small statue ?

I honestly wonder how many big name managers he has to beat before this is just an accepted fact
Some people will never accept it because it would mean admitting they were wrong. It's more important to them.

We'll just sit back and enjoy watching the team improve.

Of course it has something to do with what you said. What you said is bold statement because he hasn’t been good enough for years, PSG fans criticised him even when he reached final of CL, that’s the point. If you are going to talk about Tuchel winning champions league, you might should just put some faith on Ole being successful here.

He hasn't been that great for a United managers standard. We just got top 4 in the last game and have failed in every cup we are in.
One win over PSG do not make us world beaters as much as we would like to be.
We have also started poorly in the league so far.

So true. The start of this season was a catalogue of negative incidents beyond the manager’s control. It’s so sad all our fans can’t see that.

And i strongly agree that Ole has demonstrated amazing consistency through brave and insightful decisions since March. It’s been a joy to observe.

we still need to be reticent and accommodating because this is still a new and young team learning how to play and win together, and they will have melt downs and lose when they shouldn’t. That’s ok by me.

But like you I’m so excited by Ole’s potential. Every player that started tonight was exemplary, and yet we still have pogba, VdB, Maguire, Matic, Greenwood, Cavani, Henderson, Mata and Bailly and others in reserve. Quite a stunning turnaround vs the squad Ole inherited. And every player is deeply committed to him, they play for him, they trust him.

And of course Ole keeps learning with valuable new experience every game too. it’s a really fun time to be supporting our club.

Miss the game but from what you guys saw the way PSG played tonight in Tuchel's system, would you take him at United?
I was a big fan of his but his PSG days have made me doubt whether he is the man. He is a good coach but he is no klopp.

Didn't think Tuchel was that highly rated anymore. He seems to be constantly fighting for his job at PSG.

It’s a bold statement that was 90 minutes away from happen. So obviously it wasn’t that bold to me.

I’ve explained my reasoning and you’ve overlooked it. Compare the team Emery had to his. It’s not the same at all. He gets the same complaints we criticise Ole for but yet you are willing to promote Ole but dog Tunchel. Would you tell PSG fans if they asked about Ole that fans don’t believe in him and he’s a fraud? I didn’t think so you’d have 101 reasons to back him so keep the same energy.

Don’t be smart bringing up old posts that mean nothing either. If Tunchel beats us at Old Trafford are you going to bring this back up? I didn’t think so.

90 minutes away of what? You actually believed Bayern wouldn’t win it?I thought everyone in here would have predicted Bayern to win that final without even thinking but there is someone in here actually think Tuchel could win it?

Same complaints? Ole gets the complaints from people like you who couldn’t see what the manager is trying to do, what the manager brings and how we have been moving in the right direction from the mess that was created by the previous managers.

He’s a great coach. Still inexperienced and will make mistakes but we just have to support him and let him get better, it’s not like there are options outside of club that could turn this squad into serious contenders in the short term but with the right moves, support and development in 2-3 years we will be exactly where we want to be.

We don’t have a squad to be winning titles now but clearly the focus is right.

He deserves enormous credit for tonight. He's deserved the criticism he's received as well.

Some people will never accept it because it would mean admitting they were wrong. It's more important to them.

Agreed. The highs are way more important than the lows for me right now because I am 100% convinced this isn’t a title winning squad. Being able to go toe to toe with teams considerably more talented than us, showing potential on counter attacks and getting better at unlocking defenses is way more important than winning every game. Everyone mocked Liverpool for celebrating 2-2 draw against West Brom back in very early all pop days but nights like that are super important for development of a great team.

He’s a relative inexperienced manager so of course he will have his shortcomings. It’s about being able to address them and having enough time to do that.

Okay

Someone please tell me who prepared the team for today, tactically and mentally? I keep reading here that we have a championship level manager who just tells his team to go and enjoy the game. Plus our coaching staff is useless. Did we get Klopp on loan for today’s game or how did we end up playing like this with a makeshift team away to PSG?

PSG were very poor it must be said. All our flaws are still there. We just weren't punished for them.

The point about Ole isn't whether he can win a football game or even the majority of football games. We know he can. The question is whether he has the ability and the resources to win something substantial. We can't go crazy every time we win, or every time we lose. It's the big picture that counts.

Ha good luck with that.

I'm thinking of petitioning to rename the place knee-jerk cafe the way things are going.

Hopefully we get a run of good performances now that we can all enjoy and the whole place can calm down a little.

We've been here before. Great performance, great result. Doesnt mean anything unless we build on it which is something Ole has shown he isnt capable of. This same manager lost 6-1 two weeks back.

So many people focus on what Ole isn't and it frustrates me so much. Look at the squad of players we have now compared to what it was when he took over. So many misfits have gone and been replaced with hungry positive players. The toxicity around the club seems to have gone and despite people insisting that Ole isn't tactically astute he keeps pulling off wins against big sides.

Tactically astute in some people's opinions seems to be picking the line up that they want.

Where is the evidence that he isn't capable of building on it? One loss where an undercooked 10 man side were well beaten? And yet the long unbeaten run from a few months ago completely overlooked? Ridiculous statement.

Anyone that thinks he underperformed last year needs to have a long hard look at themselves.

I think he has been building something. Look at our records all the way back to 30 games or something?

Of course he could lose next 10 games and gets sacked but that's true for almost all managers. But, saying he could not build anything would be a bit ridiculous at this point.

Yes. Famously, there were 11 Oles out on the pitch that day.

That's what you're posting tonight? This football lark must be a joyless experience for you. Live a little.

Ole did extremely well today. Credit to him. I just hope we build on this. There's definitely been some good signs in Ole's reign.

I still see people in this thread continuing to underrate our squad. We have a very good team now. Our bench options aren't even as bad as people think either. Greenwood wasn't even in the squad today.

4 losses in 32 games ... and ole isnt capable of what????

Dear oh dear.

He's obviously miles better tactically than he's given credit for, he's out-thunk too many tactical savants for it to just be luck. I'm gonna suspend my optimism and pessimism because it always bites me on the arse whenever I declare it, I'll swear off knee-jerking either way. I was disappointed with the first few performances of this season, especially given my disappointment with missing out on our key transfer target, but we seem to be shaking the rust off now. I even predicted we'd be rusty and still let myself knee-jerk embarrassingly enough. I'm going to take it one game at a time from now on.

3-5-2 is the way forward for the time being, in my opinion, it gets the best out of our players while covering the weaknesses of others. I don't see a role for Matic for the time being, this system is going to heavily rely on a mobile midfield. Having 4 quality striking options in Rashford, Greenwood, Martial and Cavani lead me to believe he may have had this in mind for a while. What I found tonight was that we played well even when we weren't on the break, we had counter attacks but we weren't basing our entire gameplan on just hitting them on the counter, we were actively looking to control the game too with the high line, we controlled portions of the game to great effect and our defensive structure allowed us to soak up the pressure against some of the best attackers on the planet.

One thing is for certain, this team is a million times better than anything we've had for a long time in terms of personnel and squad depth, there's quality in pretty much every position and a healthy mix of experience and youth. Even if Solskjaer doesn't end up reaping the rewards of this we'll be feeling the positive effects of his tenure for a long time to come.

Not really, he's clearly a top coach and is waiting for a top job to become free. How many top clubs have needed a manager since he got fired? I can only think of Real Madrid. It's not like he's going to take charge of Nottingham Forest.

I was trolling and I regret it because it was tongue in cheek. However Madrid, Bayern, Bayern and Juve have all changed manager since he has been free.

Anyways he's a good coach. Ole is proving to be a good coach too. Happy days. It's good to know there's other options out there but we don't need them.

Ole wins alot of big games.

The more I think about it the more I feel that the Spurs game was due to Jose knowing the weaknesses of some of his ex players aswell.

To be fair, Madrid & Juve had their next manager nailed on, he wasn't in with a shout this time around

Ole has to be given credit for his tactics and team selection today.

To leave Pogba out was a good call. He surely recognised the need for a tighter midfield. The desission to go to 4 at the back, presuming Telles wasn't injured, was a bold, attacking move too and it paid off!

Credit where credit's due!

Imagine if the board actually backed him fully this summer.

This manager has only won 24 games, and drawn 7 and lost 5 games all tournaments since the January window closed. How can we be here with this same manager every week discussing his capabilities.

Credit where it's due . He was spot on .

Let's enjoy the win and today is not the day to criticise him.

I am still very much Ole out.

Look, you'd have to be a fool or too proud to admit you're wrong to say Ole is completely inept. This isn't the first time he's flexed his tactical prowess, and the players ran themselves into the ground for him. You also have to be a fool if you can't wrap your head around the fact that in order to compete for the league, the players have to be focused and energetic on a consistent basis, because as last season has shown us there is enough quality in the bottom 10 to ensure you can drop points to anyone if you're not up for it. A manager needs to be proactive and adaptable from a man management and motivational pov to churn out results on a consistent basis and that's a barrier he's yet to break.

Has everyone forgotten that our board trying their best to hinder Ole? Why are people expecting us to be world beaters after the transfer window we had? Of course we can lose to tottenham with 10 men and than go on to beat PSG.

Ole is good but he is not god.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous claim. We just failed to sign a 120m attacker. That's all. We still had a decent window and the board is definitely supporting Ole and the team for now.

It is not about the 120m attacker. It is that we didn't sign the answers.

Telles and Cavani is not going to win us the league. If we do it is all on Ole.

Wait are you Woodward in disguise? I am shock to see someone here actually think we did alright in the transfer window.

How many exciting games has Ole give us over last two years?
We have seen him improve the team considerably, certainly not up to the standard of some people here, and we have seen he tried to remove some rotten woods in the club. Who has ever done that for this club since Alex's retirement?
Quite obviously, last two games have proven it was the lack of pre-season preparaton that resulted in the embarassing opening of the season.
So we should sack Ole after three bad games, ignoring all the difficulties he overcome to qualify for CL? Not to mention, some of the difficulties are what his predecessor left him?
Have some of the people here known the extent of the crisis this club finds itself in two years ago?

Just sit back and watch and support your team. No one has ever done a better job than Ole over last seven years. No one could have done a better job than Ole.
