Just listening to Chris Wilder now on BT. Newly promoted club against the Premier League champions, competed really hard and could maybe even got something from it. However, there’s disappointment edged across his face, speaking about areas that they need to improve on, no nonsense at all, not accepting any of the praise directed at his team. Driving the standards at his club, setting a bar for the players to follow. He could easily shower his players with players but he’s not, he’s setting standards.
We need to remember who we are. This is Manchester United. Everyone knows that times have changed, its not an easy situation at the minute etc but ultimately if you keep accepting mediocracy and make excuses, you’ll end up being one of those clubs who yo yo’s between 8-12 in the table every year.
I’m sick to the bloody of spending money to watch us get embarrassed against two of our biggest rivals, but particularly against City the other week, and have to listen to him telling me that I should be content because it’s actually a step forward. It’s patronising and is as big of a kick in the teeth as the performances were. People at work who support City think he’s hilarious, they’re loving every second of it. He doesn’t need to face it every single day luckily for him.
