World Chess Championship: Carlsen vs Karjakin

No, he got stung when he did that. The more rapid the controls are, the more likely he wins.
That was very reckless and uncharacteristic of him. However, today he did the exact opposite on the aggressiveness spectrum. Gung-go is not the only way when trying to win a game. Now the element of chance in the final outcome has grown significantly.

Skipped the start of the match, because I thought they would be playing for a while. When I turned it on they were already doing the press conference.

Would've preferred it to be decided in regular play, but Wednesday should be fun.

Would love if Magnus won the first with white, pretty sure he can play safe for draw in next two.

I mean, FFS on move 73 isn't there a mate in 4? Starting with Be6+.

Edit:
Black can prevent mate by sacrificing rook. After which it is trivial win for white.

And he will lose. Not his style. The match is over, Carlsen definitely the deserved winner, but at least it was more exciting than I thought. Great match!
Judging by the current position, quite likely. However, will Carlsen push for a win or settle with a draw...

Impressive to win, and not just draw the last game with white.

Wow, balls of steel from Carlsen to go for the win there. Obviously it couldn't go wrong but to be so sure of yourself that you didn't miscalculate something with a championship on the line is remarkable.

Actually he did try repetition a couple of times, but Karjakin obviously had no other choice but desperately push for a win, disastrously exposing his king in the process.
