Winter Olympics 2010 Vancouver

I like this thread.

Slalom today, Jansrud and Svindal have a good chance. And Bjørgen for the 30km. And the curling final tonight. Can turn out to be a good day, despite my massive hangover

Svindal's back in Norway. I gave him a congratulatory blumpkin in a Gardermoen toilet not 2 days ago.

Lars Elton Myhre is our main man tonight. Marius Arnesen says he's an outsider for a medal. Stranger things have happened.

Lars Elton Myhre won't get a medal.

Bite your lip. It ain't gonna be easy but you must believe. If he can come down in time after the first run, anywhere between 17 and 20 hundredths of a second off the pace, and if he's still standing after the second run, he could be the one. Madness? Perhaps. Written in the stars? Who knows..? He's heart's in the right place, he'll make whatever sacrifice necessary. There's just something about the way he looks tonight and if he can be a tiny dancer around the poles, as free and dynamic as a candle in the wind, he'll be a rocket man down that course. Saturday night's alright for skiing imo. All the girls love Lars, let's hope he can feel the love tonight. Norwegian slalom is ready to return to paradise, he just can't wait to be king! He needs to stop sleeping with the past though, it can be a real ball and chain. I guess that's why they call it the blues..

Come on, Lars, don't go breaking our hearts.

I believe now

A guy called Elton won't win a medal. Sorry just stating facts.

Thanks for that Searl.

You're failing at rascism if you can't even see that the guy you are picking on is the same colour as everyone else on the ice.

On that subject, are there many african americans/canadians doing well in the NHL?

Off the top of my head, Other than Iginla (Who is top 5 in the league imo):

- Dustin Byfuglien of the Blackhawks has been a good role player for them, was invited to team USA's Olympic camp
- Nigel Dawes hasn't reached his potential but is still only 25
- Evander Kane is putting in a good season for Atlanta, he's one ofr the future
- Wayne Simmonds has been a pleasent surprise in LA, his offensive production has gone up
- Kyle Okposo is another one for the future, a big part of a growing Islanders organization
- Francis Bouillon used to be a mainstay for my Habs but has move on
- Trevor Daley is going well for himself as a checking line player in Dallas
- Ray Emery isn't doing too too bad, his days in Ottawa though will never be matched

Long gone are the days where Freddy Brathwaite, Grant Fuhr and Kevin Weekes were nightly features in net

I thought Slovakia had scored at the end. I suppose he should have put it in the net.

Another US-Canada game should be epic. The US is the home team...in Canada. lol

It was a save too, called the "Glove from above"

Yeah, they'll play as the home team because they were the top qualifier.

Little things:

- Jersey color (USA will wear Blue, Canada white)
- Last line change (Pretty important late in games / for matchup purposes)
- Choice of what end (Usually you want the end your bench is closest to for the 1st and 3rd periods, what with pressure on your defensive units if you lead or to pull the goalie with more efficiency)
- Longer timeout (Loose rule but it's a minute as opposed to the away teams 45 seconds)

I would have accepted second much better if that whore didn't win it.

Can't believe you hate her that much.

That said, I don't even like her that much in spite of her being the first Pole to win the gold in this century.

I don't think her ski's was good enough, you saw that in the downhill parts at the end. In any case she had been in front way longer than Kowalchyk and I think that was what decided the race. She may have underestimated Kowalchyk.

£200 on Norway at odds 3.10, come on Noggies.

I can't stand Canada's skipper.
