Winter Olympics 2010 Vancouver

Canada are playing really really well. Morris has been outstanding, the fecker. Noggie commentators are rightly blowing smoke up his arse

Norway need three in the last end. Game over I think. We lost to probably the best team in the world, though. We'll take silver with pride

A shame curling is over, it was good fun while it lasted.

See you in 4 years.

Alright. Bring on the 50 km and the hockey final, which is shaping up to be a mouth-watering prospect

The Canadians want this medal more.

They're playing in front of their own nation.

They're better.

The sleeping dragon was awakened by an inferior side and vengeance has paired the slayer with the dragon a second time.

No chance for the US.

Therefore, I've logically concluded the US will win. 4-3

If we don't win the final and if another we don't win femmila then I declare this whole olympics an utter failure for all countries involved. Especially crap host #1, Canada. Or is it IOC, or possibly FIS I should take my anger out on?

You do realise it's our second most successful Olympics ever? Not too bad I must admit even if we had a few disappointments. The highlights for me: Tora Berger, Marit Bjørgen, Emil Hegle Svendsen, The Women's Cross Country Relay Team, The Men's Bithlon Relay Team and Aksel Lund Svindal.

How about Canada then? 13 gold medals so far and they can even add another today. Surely their most successful Olympics ever but I haven't looked that up. Hats off to the Canadians for that performance.

Most successful host nation ever, I believe?

And I'm really pleased with Norways haul in these Olympics. Lots of highlights, lots of drama and exciting events. And as WSJ wrote, our medal haul is really impressive when compared to population density. Norway are amongst the best, and long may it continue, but we've got to accept that countries with superior contestant pools will catch us up one day!

We've got a job to do for the next Olympics though. Marit Bjørgen has signalled it may be her last Olympics, Bjørndalen will be gone, Svindal will be getting on a bit. I am thrilled to see some of our younger athletes performing so well. Northug and Svendsen obviously but don't forget Tarjei Bøe, Therese Johaug. Tarjei Bøe is better than Bjørndalen was at the same age and is a very exciting prospect. Where is the Olympics in 2014 anyway?

I wasn't all that serious  I've had countless hours of fun the two last weeks. And if we'll win the 5km today I'll be in heaven, if we'll lose I probably wont remember all the fun times until mid-week sometime.

I won't accept that for one second

It's our giantic neighbour Russias turn to host it

Well, let's not get our hopes up too much. The russians will be doped off their tits for the Olympic games on their home soil. Cross Country and Biathlon will be a write-off for that one.

Let's give them some fishing-permits up in "smutthullet" and I'm sure we'll get a couple of golds

feck that, they steal enough of that already.

Hopefully the IOC or whatever will put some pressure on them to deal with their doping issues. I wasn't really that suspicious of anyone this Olympics. I generally try not to accuse people without any evidence, which appears to be hard to come by :P

No, he'll be around for the Sochi games and he'll go down in history as the greatest Winter Olympian ever.

No not much suspicious about these Olympics but I have a bad feeling about those Russian sprinters.

Thing is though, they didn't go any faster than Northug did (in fact, I believe it was slower by a small margin). They were in the firsts semifinal as well, weren't they? And Northug lost a fair bit of pace into a quite important turn (the sharp flat one, before the long upwards climb near the stadium) when Pølsa went flat on his face, if I remember correctly

Marit Bjørgen is just 29, I doubt she'll want to quit now after such a brilliant Olympics for herself personally. Also, Bjørndalen has said he's working towards 2014. Actually, I'm fairly confident for 2014. We've got some very exiting prospects who are already here, and will get a lot better with 4 years worth of experience.

.

No it isn't

Salt Lake 2002 - 13 gold, 5 silver, 7 bronze
Lillehammer 1994 - 10 gold - 11 silver- 5 bronze
Nagano 1998 - 10 gold - 10 silver - 5 bronze
Albertville 1992 - 9 gold - 6 silver - 5 bronze
Vancouver 2010 - 8 gold - 8 silver - 6 bronze

If you go any further back than that, the number of events at the Olympics makes comparison pointless. Granted, we might pass Albertville 1992 with a gold today, but it's hardly a great Olympics in the modern era. It's very good compared to Torino, though, so we've definitely bounced back.

I must have misread something in the newspaper. I retract that statement, we've been shit.

Bjørgen has signaled that she may retire in the not to distant future. Remember she's a woman and may want to breed and stuff before she's too old. Can't wait for the next one, I'll be posting even more in that thread!

 bittttttttttttter... Vancouver really recovered from a forrible shaky start to the hosting, i'm proud that I share nation with that wonderful city, who took centre stage and despite the blips, excelled beyond expectations.

And our athletes have done the best they ever could, but the whole thing comes down to one game at Noon local time, when a group of fellas on skates go for gold in "skatestick"

Sochi in Russia will host the 2014 Olympics :nervous:

Alot of issues coming up for that already in terms of energy supply, geography (Apparently it's built in a civil war zone), and where the money is coming from, I hope it pulls through, with NHL players intact as well because you know that hockey tournament will be the best yet.

Just as she's got something great going on the Olympic stage :(

But yeah, I think we're going to do great in four years.

No signs of weakness from any of the boys yet. This is in the bag me thinks.
