Winter Olympics 2010 Vancouver

Would be nice to see another (or at least one) derby in the SEL, but it does seem unrealistic at this point.

Shit choice of team btw :D hehe

Been a FBK fan since 96 no idea why. Frölunda is the team I dislike most though, usually go to a couple DIF matches every year just to see decent hockey but none so far this season.

These are the lines I'd like to see against Finland:

Eriksson-Bäckström-Alfredsson
Forsberg-Zetterberg-Franzén
Sedin-Sedin-Hörnqvist
Modin-Påhlsson-Weinhandl

Seriously Weinhandl is out of his depth. Very disappointing and not the kind of player who works well with the twins. Hörnqvist was set up so many times only to fail miserably. I think he could work better with the Sedins than "Weinis" at least.

I don't like having Weinhandl on the fourth line at all, but since BÅG brought 8 d-men for some reason there's not much of a choice. Would love to have a player like Steen on the fourth line instead.

I can understand that it's a bit tough being a Bajen and hockey fan. Can't support another local team.

I like those lines. Yeah Weinhandl was a gamble, would have been much better with Samuelsson instead of him.

Well, I'm all for Steira getting a medal. God knows she deserves it. But is this really the way? I didn't see it, as I was in the theater watching the Road (OK) and the Wolfman (avoid it!). Did it affect the outcome much?

I doubt it. She probably didn't even know you were at the movies.

First gold for the UK in the womens skeleton, Amy Williams tore the field up from start to finish.

Can Russia afford to lose against the Czechs if Slovakia beats Latvia? How many teams progress from a group? Usually have no clue about group stages....

Ay sorry mate.

All the teams advance, and then are re-seeded, which is why goals are VERY important in international shinny.

Qualification round then the quarterfinals are like so:

12 plays 5, winner plays 4
11 plays 6, winner plays 3
10 plays 7, winner plays 2
9 plays 8, winner plays 1

Essentially if the Czechs beat Russia, the Czechs will likely be the high seed, Russia may or may not slip into a position where they play a harder team.

If Finland beat Germany, then they will play Sweden for a bye, though both teams might advance to the quarters... Super Sunday should be interesting.

The 3 points available per game system is fantastic, and winning in OT still only gets you 2 points (Like Canada last night) and losing gets you one (Russia).

As of right now, we'll say Finland beats Germany 2-0 like Sweden did:

Latvia plays Russia, winner plays Czech Republic
Germany plays Switzerland, winner plays Finland
(Winners play in the semis)

Norway plays Canada, winner plays Sweden
Belarus plays Slovakia, winner plays USA
(Winners play in the semis)

Ah, that kind of makes up for the girl finishing 5th

Silver and Gold would have been nice though

I'm not sure if I agree with protesting the womens 15km.

Not sure if she actually gained anything from the skating. Anyhow, tough for Steira, but she was beaten fair and square in a sprint that would have happened regardless.

I think she'll get a medal in the 30km.

Yup. Bit petty, I thought.

Pants won! 6-3 over Denmark. 5-1 now!

Now, jumpers, do your shit. I'll drink beer, and watch highlights later. Same goes for 30 km!

Our jumpers were unlucky and not good enough.

Extremely impressive stuff from Amman.

The 30km has started now, come on Nortug!

Norway are tied 3-3 with Switzerland in the third period. Fun tight game. Mza won't play in Elitserien next year.
