Wimbledon

Bloody Williams sisters.

Sure they would give most men a match.

If they wanted, they could have continued their domination from when they did years ago... instead they were content with winning the odd slam and do feck else pretending to be injured or lose to inferior opponents regularly.

What I don't get about this Sampras having more competition thing is that he played some of the players Federer has to play and didn't do well. Sampras lost to Hewitt and Safin as well. These guys aren't as bad as people make out.

Agreed. They really annoy me as well. Venus today was disgraceful. Didn't apologize for net chords. Jumping up and down when shaking the opponents hands.

Pete lost to them during last years of his Tennis. Hewitt and Roddick are rubbish, anyone who can not see that, should stop watching tennis all together.

It is a not about one off matches. Sampras proved himself to be better than the biggest competitors he had, mainly Becker, Agassi. Federer's got two in Nadal and Novak now. And he is far from stamping his authority on them as it stands.

Nadal is different league to Agassi and Djokovic is still a fair way behind anyway.

Im glad Zheng is making a fight of this. It is the semi finals of Wimbledon after all.

Sampras was over the hill then, whiel Hewitt and Safin were young bucks with hugh amount of pace. The likes of Murray, Djorkovic, Nsonga are the Hewitts, Safins of yester year

Hewitt has become rubbish, was decent few years ago. Roddick's rubbish though. Anyway Sampras lost games to Agassi as well. Federer will definitely continue to win Slams with these two around. Probably not 3 a year though.

I would wager a bet that Serena Williams will be as big as a house when she stops playing. She's got a massive natural build for a woman.

Losing to Djokovic in the semis at the Aussie Open and being humiliated by Nadal in the French seems to differ. Never said he was passed it, but he's definitely on a downward slide.

His almost feeble excuses of glandular fever are kind of pathetic, too.
He's just won 11 slams in 4 years, only lost to Nadal at the French Open - Nadal probably being the best clay courter ever - and was very close to beating Djokovic whilst suffering from glandular fever.

Pathetic excuses? He never even mentioned it until well after.

Serena wins the tiebreaker. 14 aces, she's got a brutal serve. Typical Asian vs US matchup, small nimble and finesse vs raw power and physicality. I really can't stand Serena though, just seems too temperamental and full of herself. Hope to see Venus give her a good ol' fashioned sister spanking in the final.

Anyone just seen that Serena interview? She's giggling, making weird noises, did some weird sex-groan when she was asked whether she was looking forward to playing venus, seems mentally unstable... or is it just the effect of seeing a woman with the robust features of a man being so girly.

Not supporting either... both very annoying. Like watching that Liverpool vs Chelsea CL semi.

Agreed she was totally overpowered in the first set, did well to get back into it. I would probably side with Venus over Serena as well.

I am a Agassi fan, may all time fav. player so it pains me to say it but Sampras well and truly proved he was the better player out of the two. Agassi forced him to play his best tennis every single time they met though.

I have nothing against Federer neither I have his cock in my mouth like many of his fanboys who are itching to claim him as the best tennis player ever when he is yet to produce the same numbers as Bjorg. He simply has to come out on top against Nadal and Djokovic over the course of next 2-3 years if he is that good. And losing a one off final against Nadal on Wimbledon which is his surface would be a big deal especially on the back of a 5-0 Grandslam run.

Sampras for me as well at this point. Him and Agassi were the reason I got interested in tennis in the first place.

The last Federer vs Safin semi-final I watched was the greatest game of tennis i've ever witnessed.

I hope it lives up. Doubt it though.

The Aussie semi in 2005? Absolute cracker, wasn't it? If it's half as good today it will have been quality.

I reckon Federer, if he can, will be merciless and get through the game as quickly as possible to maximise his recovery time ahead of facing Nadal in the final on Sunday. He'll be desperate to avoid getting sucked into a 4 or 5 set marathon with Safin - if that happens he'll really struggle against the super fit Nadal.

My mistake, the players seem to be on court now.

Very underrated, but a lot of casual tennis watchers think a powerful serve is the be-all and end-all. Federer's placement is second to none.

Federer makes too much mistakes, far from his best today. Safin may have a small chance of winning a set.
