Wimbledon 2015

On this form, I wish Nadal had played Federer. They never meet at Wimbledon

Nadal can only gain points from now till Australia. But it honestly doesn't make a diffierence anymore if he's ranked 1, 2, 3 or 40.

Nadal is so shit at Wimbledon now that I didn't even bother to watch this match.

I wonder how much of it is mental and how much is physical.
More physical than mental. Nadal's prime days required great foot and racquet speed. This year is worse than anything I've seen before from him - he's significantly slower in getting into position to hit the inside out forehand. It's not surprising any more. As I mentioned before, it's going to probably take him the rest of this year to change his game and adjust to his current state.

People going on about how shit Nadal was don't seem to be giving credit where it was due.

Yeah, Nadal was poor today...but Dustin Brown was electric! A box of tricks with his returns, got all over the court with slides, splits, very high jumps.

His style was bizarre but I thought he was sensational. Even if Rafa was shit.

You missed out, it was worth it alone for Johnston. I'd probably watch him playing against a wall he's so eccentric.

Nadal's demise at Wimbledon is pretty incredible - 5 finals in a row between 2006 and 2011 (not counting 2009 when he didn't play), since then he's won 5 matches in 4 years. It's not really a huge shock to see him lose to someone like Brown these days, but it's great to see Brown get a big win, he's so entertaining to watch.

Agreed, although he does mess up some easy points. I guess being physically weaker will have that effect on him. I'll be surprised if he can regain his form again, or anything near it. He's 29, not much left at the top.

It happens. Post 30 tennis playesr rarely do great things in recent times. He's 29 and has a rigorous style.

He's past the point of no return, for sure. Still, Federer was magnificent in the game before, against a player ranked 70 odd places above Brown. But then that's federer.

Federer's a special case of effortless style.....I mean he could probably retire now for 7 years, comeback at 40 for a full year and still make the quarters of at least one of the slams just because he could, though the fact I don't see any talent near the levels of Djoko/Murray/Nadal coming through would probably help that. All 3 of them were very much on the road to greatness 7 years ago.

This highlights programme is awful. Will Clare Balding be doing match of the day next?

They should just bring back Inverdale and go back to the old format.

Look at those dreads. Beautiful.

I think Rafa has had far too many injuries now to win another grand slam, which is a shame as he is arguably the GOAT.

If his words on his defeat today are remotely indicative, then he's gone. Those of a guy who's had a cracking career but feels Wimbledon is beyond him now. If he truly is accepting of his inability to keep up, then he ain't gonna be winning anything significant anymore.

However, if someone turns up, reminds him that he used to be good at tennis, and providing he accepts he can't be unstoppable, he could still be damn good... He's still young enough (body permitting) to be a pain in the arse to top players and possibly battle to another major victory or two.

I knew Rafa would burn out at some point very soon. He was too athletic at an early age to not have it catch up with him right about now. Astonishingly, Federer, who is 4 years older just keeps chugging along as the world number 2.

Nadal's done. But then again I thought that might've been the case in 2009 and especially 2012 as well.

must be a dream to draw Nadal on grass today. every real possibility for surely a famous (not historic any more but still) win

Kyrgios is a giant douchebag. Trying to be a showman, but what comes naturally to Brown just looks like deliberate showboating and cuntishness with him.

He's always been this way, he is young and passionate playing in the biggest tennis tournament in the world, if you took this fire out of his game it would be boring to watch him.

There's a difference between fire and just trying really hard to look like a badass and a "showman".

Kyrgios' serve hasn't been this good in the past, has it?

Raonic playing like a sack of potatoes. He looks spent.

Kyrgios goes through, Raonic was poor though.

Tomic needs to work on his footwork and movement. In this day and age you have to be more athletic and have more urgency than he's showing today.

Hardly watched any as of yet but what a performance from Brown yesterday. 99 times he went to the net, that is some old school grass tennis. I used to love Sampras back in the day (when he played at Wimbledon) and this guy's performance yesterday just reminded me of him, rushing the net whenever possible. He will eventually get beaten quite easily but that was some show he put on.

I always wonder about the placement of spectators who sit virtually right behind the ball boys/girls. The amount of times they must get whacked by the ball or have to dodge with lightning reflexes.

There must be an argument for Serena to be the best womens player of all time
