Wimbledon 2015

Bagged 2 tickets for the final via Ticketmaster (at precisely 09:00:00!).

If it rains (as is expected), do they shut the roof and play?
ps. Like Djok, hopefully he does it...

Ah I was talking to my housemates about buying Wimbledon Final tickets and pricing and stuff. If you don't mind me asking, how much did a ticket cost?

Sure - £330ish for 2 (face value from source i.e. Ticketmaster). Practically impossible to get, genuine lottery, I just happened to get super lucky and click at exactly 09:00:00!

Win or lose...Muguruza has all the tools to become a top player and will probably wind up with a few Wimbledons once Serena steps away.

She holds all four slams for the second time in her career.

She will probably win the U.S. Open and win all four in a year.

Greatest female athlete of all time for me, unquestionably.

And yet, a lot of people only focus on her appearance and call her manly. Madness

Don't know about other sports but even in this sport, that statement is not unquestionable. The greatest ever female tennis player to me has 59 grand slams to her name. 18 singles, 31 doubles, 10 mixed doubles and career slams in all categories. The last of those came when she was 50. That's some athlete who wins a slam at 50.

Congrats Paz, I went up thursday and even though we only had court one tickets we had a great day. Got to see Hingis too

Glad to have been around to watch the greatest male and female tennis players ever.

Really hope Rog wins tomorrow.

She celebrated like she won a charity event, not the biggest tennis tournament in the world
Yeah but the umpire messed up the announcement initially, causing a bit of confusion.

Doubt it. She's in great form, amongst the most consistent in her career.

The sisters have interests outside tennis. ..so once she has all the records she will likely walk away instead of going through a slow and gradual decline.

Let's never forget this.

She can't help her build, genetically black people have greater muscle density in comparison to white people you see this in Athletics particularly.

It's just disgusting that people choose to call her manly, compare her to animals and she should play the men's tennis.

It's not just about the amount of titles, it's who's she's overcome to achieve those titles.
So many women's champions have come and gone but yet Serena is still the best even in this new generation.
But again that's my opinion.

Again, I doubt it. Considering Venus was still playing this year even though she's well past her best.

Serena will want to beat the record but make sure she wins enough to try and solidify the record for generations to come.

They're both well into their 30s and won't have anything substantial to play for anymore. They've win everything there is to win and will probably go back to their fashion interests

Oh Serena is among the all time greats and in that too among very top, no doubt about that but I think the competitors are not a great match. Particularly in last few years since JHH retired. Navratilova had a great rival in Chris Evert. Also having watched Graf's dominant era, I think that era too offered better competition than current one. We see so many female tennis players appear and fade away currently. Even without Serena, none of them looks to be good enough that they will establish themselves as the top ones. Without Serena, still there will be lots of 'shock' results among other top seeds in female tennis. Just the sheer number of unforced errors in women's game is a turn off. Can't blame Serena for it though, you can only beat what is in front of you.
It will be great if someday women tennis too get a great competitive era like men's right now where all top ones are absolute class.

They're champions and have been doing this for 20 odd years.
There's trophies, championships, records and history to play for.
Plus their fashion interests aren't exactly setting the fashion world alight.

Federer is older than Serena, has won more and is more adored yet there's little talk about him retiring, nor does he look like he wants to retire.

So when Serena is still dominant why would she give up?

This new generation is turd though.

Was she better or Graf?

For me, Graf. I do think though that Graf would have won considerably lesser titles had Seles not been stabbed. But then Graf also retired earlier, for lack of motivation. Had she stayed around, might have bagged couple more.

Edit: I mean Graf vs Serena here.

Not sure about Graf winning in a more competitive era. Seles seemed like would give her a tough fight but was stabbed and sidelined for quite some time. Graf also rolled over a weak field for quite some to win. Sanchez Vicario was best of the bunch and was rolled over by Graf with ease for a couple of years around 96.

This is true and very good points, but I think it's generally regarded that women's tennis in recent years has been at least more competitive, quality aside the competition makes it even more impressive that Serena has dominated, including her own sister who has won 12 slams herself and I don't think gets as much credit for her achievements and that's because of Serena plus players like Sharapova & JHH.
And for me that's what makes it greater That Serena has achieved what she has

I just remembered Seles as the girl who made that funny sound and watched her play Graf as a kid.

Just read that she had 8 grandslam titles before turning 20. The feck
