Wimbledon 2013

This.

Actually, most English people do describe themselves as British first and it's only the Scotch and Welsh who clamber for some sort of national identity by describing themselves as Welsh or Scotch. Anyway, Andy Murray categorically said he is Scottish, not British in an interview in his early days. Since then he's whined about the press saying he's Scottish when he loses and British when he wins. As far as I am concerned he's a moaning Scotch wanker with a bad attitude and aptitude for choking on the big occasions. Come on Djoko.

I've never heard anyone describe themselves as British. I'm not saying you're wrong, just I've never heard anyone say it. Don't see what's wrong with him saying he's Scottish. I also have no problem with English wanting him to lose. I enjoy watching English sportsmen lose.

So... This is immense. Could be a very very long game.

There's nothing wrong with Murray's attitude to be honest. Comes across as a very modest guy.

Fantastic start to the match. Murray's been the better of the two so far; let's hope he can keep it up.

You'd wonder how Djokovic could possibly keep this up after his game on Friday.

With any other player I'd question if they'd possibly struggle due to the length of his match on Friday, but Djokovic is an absolute machine when it comes to keeping his fitness levels up.

For some of the tabloids/their readers and funnily enough the same ones piling on the pressure now now and preparing special pull-outs were he to win today, it still boils down to that Paraguay shirt thing. Which so i have heard since was taken a bit of context as well as overblown by the press.

Can't have seen many of his interviews then.

FWIW I don't like Djokovic either, he always seems to find an injury so he can withdraw from a game when he's losing.

The commentators were just saying that Djokovic won the Australian Open last year after playing a five hour semi-final and a six hour final, so I wouldn't count on it.

I'm not so easily influenced by the press, I don't like Murray because I think he thinks he's a lot better than he is and has an incredibly poor attitude.

The crowd need to adopt the attitude of the crowd at Roland Garros and cheer every little thing Murray does while going near silent or cheering Djokovic's error. He can be a bit of a drama queen and let it get to him which would help Murray.

He comes across as fairly dour but he's just not really an interview guy. He's a modest Scottish guy so the whole interview scene is something I get the impression he's not really too fond of. People seem to misconstrue that as him having a bad attitude though.

I don't misconstrue anything. When he's saying he lost purely because the other player played better, I think that's a poor show. It shows a lack of admission that his own game isn't good enough and I don't like that in people.

But there's so little to choose between the top players that it's nearly always true.

Quite often it is true though. In some of his final defeats, he's lost to some of the greatest players of all-time. In a lot of those cases the other player has simply been better than he's been.

I'm not talking about his defeats in finals and even if it is true, I like to hear a sports person telling me what they would have done differently with hindsight. Maybe it's the reverse though, maybe I'm the one with a bad attitude because whenever I lose at anything I think it's because I didn't do enough as opposed to the opposition simply being better.

It's the 5th game and the quality of tennis is already very good but this is Wimbeldon and I miss a player of the style of an Edberg or a Becker or a Sampras. We don't even have a Rafter or a Ivanisevic or Krajicek these days. :(

I miss the battle of different styles. Courier vs Edberg or Sampras vs Agassi.

Perhaps, but as I say he's general not an interview guy. The quality of tennis is so high at the moment that generally, when he does lose, it's because his opponent was simply better. I really don't see it is a bad attitude at all.

Too much baseline dueling and percentage points these days.

Murray will lose today, Djokovic is too good on grass. I hope he doesn't lose, but I think he will.

Pingpong Wanker, how do you deal with games like this on Pingpong Centre Court? Tell us about the pressures, the heat and the nerves.

I'm struggling to understand why there are so many men in the crowd wearing suit jackets and ties in the 40c heat. What the feck is wrong with them?
