Pathetic... 2nd serve, stayed back, fed him a short ball.

someone should trick Roddick that whenever is BP it's actually deuce.

Aye well Murrays got no first serve when it matters, in fact his first serve percentage is an embaressment for a player ranked 4 in the world, how many times he misses it is ridiculous, if he could get it right he might actually win a set in a slam final!

Never gonna win a grand slam with a first serve percentage below 40!

True. His service is actually better than Rafa's but yeah poor 1st serve %

Nadal has an amazing 1st serve % but quite slow and terrible serve.

If only he could get some cheap points on serve he would really have a good chance at USO every year.

Finally Rafa makes a break point count

It's something Nadal has done a lot this tourney. Stay back at break points on the 2nd serve and just return it

Trouble is Nadals shot by the time the US comes round, hes always pretty much played every single possible match during the clay court season (because he wins every time!) and then Wimbledon comes along and by that time hes got little left to give, its a punishment in a way for being so damn good on clay he never gets any rest.

His serves improved greatly over the years though i dont agree its terrible its actually quite good these days, obviously he dosnt have the power others do but his placement and spin make it atleast a decent weapon now (hes hit a few aces again today hasnt he?), when he first showed up at Wimbledon his serve was a bad joke! so hes made big improvements on that front.

Yeah him winning Wimby in 08 without a good serve and the cheap points that come with it is a huge acheivment really.

I can see Roddicks match lasting a long time

This does have all the ingrediants to be another Mahut-Isner dosnt it...i hope not because it will make their next round opponenet such a hot favourite, unfairly so really.

And if that breaks their records would make them look like a total morons, holding it for like 3 rounds.

8-7

Hm...off to watch Brazil - Chile. This really can take a while.

Bah, or not, Roddick lost. :(

Nadal wins 6-4 6-2 6-2 then nice easy straight setter as predicted by moi :p.

So the quater final draw:

Nadal v Soderling
Federer v Berdych
Murray V Tsonga
Djokervic v Lu

Think thats correct?

Yup. It's all opened up nicely for Federer again. Berdych will be easy enough and then he's got bottle merchant number 1 Choker in the semis.

Been an easy draw for Murray as well.

Rafa has a tough tough game ahead.

It always opens up for Federer. He is such a jammy cnut.

And I wouldn't mind betting that Melzer washed his back for him in the shower afterwards. Such an accommodating chap.

It does dosnt it, its ridiculous really hes pretty much been given a bye to the final again, where as Nadal will have to beat Soderling and probably Murray to get to the final....ridiculous really how can the world number 1 not be seeded 1, typical wimbledon bending over for Federer as usual giving him the nice easy side of the draw whilst everyone else has to work their cocks off to get there.

Nothing new really. In almost every slam he plays he has a virtual walkover to the semis before he plays his first semi difficult match.
And yeah him being seeded first is quite pathetic really.
Even the matches are always scheduled to give him an advantage. Loved it how in Australia in 09 Nadal beat him despite playing a 5 hour marathon match the day before while Fed as usual was all fresh and rested.

Wimbey always had unique ranking system. Of course they'll seed Federer as #1 because he's 6 times winner. Nadal is way off those heights.

Federer was 4 points away from being eliminated in the 1st round, has a tough second round opponent and lost a set.

Nadal had so far a pretty easy draw on paper. Today he played non ranked opponent, when Federer played #16, Djokovic played Hewitt, Soderling Ferrer, etc.

Nadal and Federer had easy draws on paper but both made them hard.

Not like Nadal had not had an easy draw in 08 Wimbey - playing Schuettler in the Semis and no top 10 ranked player. Amazingly enough Nadal has beaten only 2 top 10 players before the finals in USO,AO and Wimbey in his career - injured Djokovic and the clown Simon.

So I don't think Nadal had tougher draws. He's yet to beat a top player this year.

Are you guys actually serious?

You're just picking out ridiculous things to hate on Federer for now. It's daft.

What the hell.

Nadal gets fined $2k for "recieving coaching" while Henin who was being coached virtually throughout her game today did not get a warning?

One rule for Nadal, another for the rest.

You fecking love a victim complex, don't you? I've got to admit I'm shocked you're not a Liverpool fan.

Heh, Clijsters out too. That's pretty much nailed on for Serena to win Wimbledon then, since the other three women in the semi-finals no-one's ever heard of.

:(

Cljisters was the only one who could have beaten Serena, or maybe Venus (if their dad decided Venus should win this time)

The women's draw is really poor. very very predictable.

Serena wins every slam besides the bloody French. Hopefully Kim can defend her USO title this year

hmm like when?

Federer and his easy draws:

2009 - Karlovic (22) Haas (24) in the QF and SF
2008 - Ancic (us) Safin (us) in the QF and SF
2007 - Ferrero (20) Gasquet (12) in the QF and SF

So in the last three years the highest seed he's faced before reaching the final is 12. fecking joke.

It is a bit dodgy that they put Federer on one side of the draw and then all the other top ten seeds on the other. It's like they're detemined he'll reach the final no matter what.

Yeah and despite Nadal being World Number, shifting him down to the 2nd seed is a joke again.

Nadal plays Soderling and possibly Murray to reach a final..

Fed will play the mighty Berdych and Choker at best

2009 - he played Soderling in the 1/8 finals. Soderling was just finalist at RG beating Nadal. #12 in the world, after the tournament broke into top 10. Lu, who he played in 1st round this year eliminated Roddick and is at the QF's. Then he played Kohli in 3rd round. Haas and Karlovic if you think it's easy on grass?

Not the hardest draw out there but definitely harder than everything Nadal faced till the finals in Wimbey.

2008 - Ancic dropped in the ranking due to absense from the tour, you know why. He has 1 SF, lost to Roddick and 2 QF's both lost to Federer. Also Federer eliminated Hewitt and Soderling on the way.

Nadal played only Murray, who wasn't even top 10 at the time and #94 Shuettler in the SF's? Do you tnik that is a better draw?

07 was rather weak I agree, mainly because Haas gave him a walkover.

Do you believe that Nadal had tougher opponents on grass than Federer in all those years bar 2007?

Yeah and despite Nadal being World Number, shifting him down to the 2nd seed is a joke again.

Wimbey organizers decied the draw. If you go to atp website you can easily see that the tournaments in the GS are not atp members. They decide the draw. Wimbey always give the nod to players who did better at the tournament, not year rankings. One has 6 titles there and one 1, hmm tough to decide.

Here's a fresh example. Sampras was seeded #1 at Wimbey in 2000 AND 2001. What was his ranking back then?

It doesn't matter if they'd seeded Fed 1 or 2. But if they had given him the number 2 slot i'm pretty sure either Soderling and Murray would have gone with Nadal to the top half.

and why do you think that?

You know how for example #3 and 4 are drawn, do you?

You have to admit It does seem extremly one sided when every major threat to Federer on grass is kept well away from him until the final, having every top 10 seed in the other half of the draw is just wrong bascially, whilst Nadal or Murray or Soderling will have to fight to the bone to get through to sundays final Federer will as usual be gifted a couple of walkovers in prep for the big one.
