Will Harry Kane ever win a trophy? | No

Title or not he looks like he has regressed really badly when playing for Bayern & England.

Becoming quite a penalty taker even if he gets goals like yesterdays to complete his hattrick.

I dont see his passing as much anymore and he is slower than ever.

Harry Kane at Bayern:
DFB Supercup 2023 - lost against Leipzig
DFB Pokal 23/24 - second round exit against Saarbrücken
Bundesliga 23/24 - finished third
CL 23/24 - QF exit against Real
DFB Supercup 2024 - not even qualified
DFB Pokal 24/25 - third round exit today against Leverkusen

Not going well so far

You can take the player out of Spurs, but you can't take the Spurs out of the player.

Didn't play in the loss though

It's the DFL Supercup!

Bayern 4 points above Leverkusen after today and potentially 3 above Eintracht Frankfurt if Eintracht beat Leipzig tomorrow. They're obviously still favourites to win the title but imagine if they dont. Kane is probably my favorite non-United player but that would be hilarious  he'll be at Bayern at least until 2027 so trophies will surely come sooner or later.

Name in the title should be changed to Hairy Kane as that is what he's known as among German football commentators.

Telegraph say he has a release clause next winter window for 54m. Presumably would mean bayern listen to offers of around that in summer. Its probably a year or so too late, but my god we could do with a finisher. He'll be 32 in summer. Plenty of examples of strikers going to a top level into mid thirties these days, but hard to say with kane. Its not a terrible fee.

would be like banging a miss world in her 70s and thinking it counts.

Yeah what could go possibly wrong signing an ageing player for £60-70m and paying him £400k a week.

as i said, its probably a year or 2 too late

I don't think his transfer was ever realistic for us personally. Signing him a couple of years ago would have cost the club a £100m + transfer fee, another £100m in wages, signing/loyalty bonus, performance bonuses and agent fee you are looking at a £250m transfer.

Quality player all the same, haven't seen much of him for Bayern tbh. But what I've seen with England, I wouldn't want at United.

yeah. not when for the same money you could get hojlund and zirkzee, and pay antony’s wages.

kane was a no brainer signing, but he would have masked a lot of our other deficiencies. now it should be obvious to anyone one with a brain that we are shit, and we need to build again from scratch. someone like kane sneaking us into the top four would have probably just delayed what needs to happen over the next 18 months.

This is said often, but he was fast and mobile enough to be problematic before he turned snail-like.

It's been a significant drop in speed these last two years.
Likely cost England the Euro title. No his fault that Southgate picked him ahead of younger and faster players though.

Didn't we sign Hojlund and Mount for more in the same summer? If we were to put both on the market today, we'll get less than that rumored 54m release clause

I agree. Hed have been great here but price was always too much. If hed left spurs earlier maybe we'd have got him from bayern for a more realistic figure than levy would have wanted

Think the plan was always 2 years at Bayern, win some trophies then back to England.

I'd take him.

Can't read the article so does next year mean 2026 summer or 2025 summer? If it's 2026 then I doubt any club would be willing to pay that amount for him.
The release clause is €80m for this summer and €65m for the summer of 2026. It has to be triggereed by the end of January though, so he is not leaving this summer.

Have a feeling his performances are going to fall off a steep cliff over next year or so. Alexis Sanchez style.

Transfer fee was never a problem. We would easily paid 100 + million if there was a chance, Levy did not want to sell to anyone in England.
Contrary to what people here think of Glazers, we made very expensive signings over the years Casemiro, Mount, Hojlund, Antony,Zirkzee so on. It would have been no brainer if Levy or/and Kane considered us , but i dont think they did.

So summer of 2026. He turns 33 in July 2026. I am strongly leaning No here but you really can't say that with absolute certainty when there is so much that is up in the air with our team. If our team in January 2026 looks similar to what it does now, languishing in mid-table, not in the UCL, not looking likely to qualify for the UCL, then obviously absolutely not.

But imagine for a second that we win the EL this year (I know, I know, but we're actually favourites) and end up in the CL in 2025-2026, and come January 2026, we're still in the CL + looking likely to be in it again, but we need more upfront, and Kane is scoring goals and looking good and has been injury free, it might be tempting. I have to say that very little in me believes that this scenario is at all likely.

How do you rate his general play this season? Do you see any signs of decline?
Hard to say. He seemed a bit sluggish at the start of the season, but that somewhat applied to the whole team. He's still a fantastic striker and very well involved in the game. I think he's a little less dominant this season (although the stats are still impressive), but that's because the burden is spread over more shoulders. Olise and Musiala help a lot in this regard. All in all, I'm very, very happy with the transfer.

Anyone dumb enough to pay that going to get what they deserve.

Paying transfer fee and big wages for any player over 30 likely to be a disaster.

For free with very incentive based contract, goals target etc it can make sense.
