Will Harry Kane ever win a trophy? | No

I remember people talking about how the Tuchel marriage wasn't a happy one and that he was a hugely overrated manager.

Bayern should be pissing the league.
Bayern is on track for the fourth best ever BL season, no other team than Bayern was ever better than Bayern this season. Except Alonso's Leverkusen now.

They've been knocked out of the cup by a third tier team?
True, I was just referring to your point about the league performances and wanted to clarify that they are getting very good results.

If Bayern really doesn't win the league this season it's not due to their weakness (they are not weak) but because of Leverkusen's record breaking run.

They have been crap all season long. Their drubbings of mighty Darmstadt and Bochum got them far too many plaudits.

2.41 points per game. that'd give you 92 points in a 38 game season. 87 in a bundesliga season. Bayern haven't come anywhere near such a tally since 2016.

I think people are just concluding they must be shit from looking at the table without recognising that what Leverkusen are doing is historic and still the gap is only 4 points (game in hand not factored).

I hate that "Spurs finished third in a 2 horse race" argument. It was never a 2 horse race.
It was a 3 horse race with Arsenal most of the season until Arsenal truly dropped off and spurs was the only one keeping up in case Leicester faltered.

Still, they had a 5 point gap to Arsenal with 3 games left and managed to finish 3rd by drawing at home to WBA, then drawing away to Chelsea (9th place, they weren't good), then losing at home to Southampton and finally getting drubbed 5-1 away to Newcastle on the final day. It was a massive choke.

So what you're telling me is that they finally have competition.

Kane plays by the rules too much and doesn't cheat. I think there was a few instances if Kane had dived or shoved more players around, he would have scored and won a trophy.

No, I am concluding that they must be shit from following the league.

They are repeatedly being bailed out by individual brilliance but are pretty crap overall.

Well, he already has the keys to the city (of London, nothing less, as I understand that particular "trophy").

Which is something that - say - Messi doesn't have, and probably won't ever have.

The entire women's 2022 squad (England) have it too, but whatever - still is a big feck you to Messi, who was not (I believe) a member of that squad.

They had lost the title race and dropped off. What's the difference between 2nd and 3rd? I don't think missing out on second is a choke job.

Do you think he made a deal with the devil?

He wasn't that highly rated as a youth, and then just burst onto the scene. Perhaps trade scoring powers for trophies.

Hope that's true! He'd would immediately my favorite player of all time if he purposefully ruined Bayern. Imagine he stays there until retirement, breaking goal scoring records left, right and center. They'd never realize he of all people is the problem

Bayern's Ronaldo. :nervous:

Laughed out loud at that. He’s one of the sneakiest players going when it comes to conning penalties and free kicks.

They kind of did though...even though stretching it a bit.

Standings after GW27 that season:
Leicester 56 points
Spurs 54 points
Gunners 51 points

Standings after GW 34:
Leicester 73 points
Spurs 68
Gunners 63

They took 16 points in their last 11 matches that season, and 2 points in the last 4 to end up second 1 point behind Gunners. They lost the two last matches of the season to Southampton at home and got smashed 5-1 by an already relegated Newcastle. As close to getting 3rd in a two horse race as you'll ever get if you ask most people.

He's gonna be there for years and there's no way Bayern not winning anything for years. It's impossible in that league and german competitions.

I don't know man, the Spurs curse sticks for years on end. He could move to Celtic and they could go trophy less in Scotland for years to come.

How?

It became them vs Leicester then Arsenal who were never in the race at all finished above Spurs at the end.

It only became them vs Leicester because people arbitrarily ignored Arsenal. As long as they're mathematically "in the race", then they're in the race. Saying Spurs finished 3rd in a 2 horse race is the same as saying we finished first last season in a 18 horse race if you arbitrarily exclude City and Arsenal.

There's 20 teams. Anyone who says "X is in the race and Y isn't" are just guessing.

Would be funny if they won nothing this year.

Player who never wins a trophy vs team which always win trophies.

United are still in the race for the title this season. What a meaningful semantic distinction "in the race" is here, definitely worth using and talking about.

Now let's do GW 20:
Arsenal 42 points
Leicester 40 points
Man City 39 points
Spurs 36 points

or GW 22:
Arsenal 44 points
Leicester 44 points
Man City 43 points
Spurs 39 points

or GW 24:
Leicester 50 points
Man City 47 points
Spurs 45 points
Arsenal 45 points

But ok, let's just pretend it was Leicester vs Spurs all the way. Arsenal top at new year but were never in the race.

Now you're just being difficult!

What about GW0 with all teams at 0 points?
It was obviously not a 2 horse race the entire season, but from GW28 and in you can argue the case. The last 4 GWs it was definitely only two teams left that could win it.
Top 2 was Spurs' to lose, not Arsenals to win. 2 points in the 4 most important games of the season is nothing short of a blow up of epic proportions.

Even if Spurs won their final four games, it still wouldn't have been enough to top Leicester.

Once the title was gone, the air went out of the balloon and we collapsed in the final couple of games. Not a good look and it was annoying at the time to drop below Arsenal but if you want to claim we bottled 2nd then ok. I just think it's funny that it's Spurs who get bantered from that season whilst City, Utd and Chelsea all get off without a mention and Arsenal somehow come out of it as winners despite being top in January and then falling off completely.

Four of the other "big 6" had worse seasons, for sure, but Spurs had the worst home stretch by a mile. Taking the lead and losing it in 3 of the last 4 and getting smashed by an already relegated Newcastle sure didn't put much pressure on Leicester either. You made it horribly easy for them.
Kane didn't exactly rise to the occasion either. He played every minute of those 4 games and scored 1 goal in 20 shots (2,27xG) when it counted the most. Compared to 24 goals in 139 shots the rest of the season and take into the account that he's usually one of the most consistant finishers in the biz. You can call it whatever you want, but you'll never get a better chance at winning the league and you choked.

2,41 points per game adds up to a 82 point season in the BuLi (34 games) to be fair. Still good enough to win the league most seasons. No non Bayern team has hit 82+ points in this millenium. (the "Kane-curse" must be real I guess)
Points in the bank allways beats games in hand though -> the gap is 7 points.

It'll be interesting to see how lethal he is when the pressure adds up at the business end of the season, both in the CL and the league.

You keep saying the last 4 but the last 2 are redundant because the title had gone, we should've closed out the season and finished 2nd but it's understandable that the team were deflated and gave up at that point. It was unprofessional but if you want to class it as a choke then go ahead I guess. In another world where we pick up a win from one of those remaining games are people going to queue up to give us credit for finishing 2nd? I doubt it.

Are Liverpool currently in the title race by the way or is it too early? I mean Arsenal were top at the same point during that season and apparently they were never in the mix so I guess not.

Look, I'll stop winding you up.
Right now it's probably a 5 horse race, but the closer we get to the business end of the season that'll be narrowed down to less teams most likely. It's not unlikely it'll be narrowed down to a 2 horse race some time in April. What the league table looks like in January is a lot less important than what it looks like 3 months from now? Agree?

If you've never won anything in your life and you've choked it the few times you've had the chance, it probably does something with your winning mentality. No?
Kane is now in a club full of winners and It'll be very exiting to see how this pans out when the pressure adds up.

I would laugh so hard if Bayern should lose against Leverkusen and Kane is responsible by missing a penalty or something stupid like that.

Hardly had a sniff today
Harry Kane always disappears in games that matter and yet everyone always act surprised when it does happen. Don't get it wrong, he's a world class player but he's not the guy you depend on when it matters to pull you through.

If Harry Kane ends up finishing an 11 year Bundesliga winning streak for Bayern, he will be memed into the ground.

In fairness, there aren't many top managers that wouldn't win the league with Bayern. Next season he probably won't have to work under one.
