Will Bruno achieve legend status at utd?

Not a legend in my eyes. He has been the best player at the club since he joined but we have massively underperformed and will not win the league or CL during his time here.

Although his output is crazy good, his performance particularly in the last couple of years have been largely quite poor in many matches.

I think he will be overwhelming looked on favourably when he leaves the clubs but for me legends are players like Keane, Cantona, Schmeichel, Scholes, Rooney etc. and he is nowhere near that kind of company.

I don't know where the bar between legendary status vs incredible player for the club lies but I think he has been a great player for the club since he has been signed. Incredible engine, always available, creates, scores, pretty much the only player over the last 5 years with any amount of consistency.

He might not be KdB or Salah tier in terms of ability but to think he won't do well elsewhere is delusional. He's easily better than the likes of Grealish, Bilva, Foden and co.

It seems like most people's take is we're shit right now so he can't be a legend but that's a strange bar.

I get that we've been historically great but we aren't anymore. Bruno may not be a legend but expecting any one player to lift the squads of the past five years to PL or CL greatness is a wild ask.
For sure, almost as wild as asking the question of this thread.

Think he'd need a bit of a fairytale ending ala Robbo to get legendary status, but he'll be looked on overwhelmingly as the only real bright spot of the last 10 years.

I like Bruno, and he’s easily our best player. But it’s going to be hard to look back at this and the last few seasons with affection for any player given how poor we’ve been. Unfortunately for Bruno he has been our captain during our toughest seasons in many memories.
Personally, I think he goes this summer with a decent offer coming in. He won’t want to stick around for a relegation battle next season and why should he.

I am sure, they care a lot when looking at their trophies

Why is it strange? The whole team is underperforming and we are going through a time of next to no success. Most fans wouldn't blink with an eye about a description like "a great player since he has been signed" but this thread is about legend status and people think (rightfully in my personal opinion) that the legend status stops meaning something when it is achievable without some ingredients.

No one at United going forward will have legendary status without a league or Champions League to their name, the modern fanbase is too neurotic and resentful for it.

What if we just become a mid-table club for eternity? Are there going to be no more legends?

I am not a United fan for too long (in comparison to some other guys on here), I know Robson has legend status even though he played during a time of bare success. Are there any legends from eras where United wasn't successful? None come to my mind (which again, isn't saying much) but legends from the successful eras are known even to somebody like me...

After all, everybody is free to do whatever they like. If you want to call Bruno a legend, why wouldn't you. At the end of the day, the term will probably end up the same as terms like "world class", "generational" or "dominate". Stuff that everybody uses but everybody does it differently. I can only say, what my point of view is and I think, adding new entries to the legend list always has an influence on the ones, that are on there. I don't think, a long list is a good thing. (Maybe except you are Real Madrid or maybe AC Milan with so much success in their history)
