Surely the Community Shield was a far better way to base opinion?

I think he's a star in the making but Championship level at CP and Man Utd are two very different things and it was never likely he'd be able to make a jump like that straight away, he should've gone straight back on loan to them.

It's all relative though isn't it. Would you rather judge someone over 4 or 5 performances on tour, or for 30 minutes in a cup game.

His tricks didn't work out that game and he kept getting tackled, on another day he could have had a stormer. But I wouldn't say he's not ready just because of that, I'd like to see him get some real chances before I know for myself if he's ready or not.

Saw something bizarre on another site about Zaha being frozen out for screwing Moyes' daughter. Apparently there was some bullshit on twitter about this. Beats me why anyone with an ounce of common sense bothers with "social media" of any description.

30 minutes?

Are you sure you've watched him play?

Oh shit, my bad he started. I decided to forget about that performance. But still, my point stands, I think he can be forgiven for 1 performance, if he continued to perform like that then yeah of course but its still just one bad performance.

I would have him easily ahead of Young and easily up there with Valencia.

The change of manager hasn't done him any favours. I don't see Moyes taking a chance on a hit and miss young player - from what we've seen, taking chances of any kind is not his thing. He may grow more secure in the job in 3/4 years and give Zaha half an hour.:smirk:

Seriously, it's hard to blame DM for not playing him. He's had a tumultuous start to his new job and is probably desperately seeking reliability, not a young kid who needs work and patience. I doubt he'd be playing Januzaj if it wasn't for the fear of losing him.

I've just seen snippets of this. Is he being shipped out because he banged Moyes daughter or is that tabloid rubbish?

I thought Zaha would be a cracking option at least coming off the bench. Having not scored in open play in the league since the first day i thought we'd start to see him involved a bit more as with his speed and trickery he does make things happen.

It all probably started with some Twitter Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime saying "Why isn't he playing? Has he shagged Moyes' daughter or something?" A few other Twitter Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime probably took it seriously and spread it to other Twitter Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

I fecking hate Twitter.

I guess none of of us know how well (or how poor) he's performing in training, but I think he's got the ability to be given a go, based on how well he's done in pre-season and at Palace.

I think Januzaj is the more dynamic player in the way he plays between the lines and always looks to be involved, but in terms of ability and decision making, I think Zaha is on the same level as him, with more experience of proper competitive football to boot. If we didn't intend to give him games, I think he should have extended his loan at Palace. He'd hit the ground running, playing for a familiar team with a boss who rates him so highly.

Don't see much harm in giving him a start against Sunderland. They are proper terrible. If he has a clanger of a game, punt him on loan. Could his game possibly be any worse than Young running away from goal and falling over?

PLTBT

He's just a young player who's made a huge jump from the Championship to what should be the top of the Premier League. Even training with us would be a stepping stone for a while. I thought he'd game some minutes on the pitch by now, but not many, so not having any is hardly a shock.

He was crap in the community shield. A game that had more value than some BS preseason friendlies.

If every player who's put in a crap performance for us this season didn't play again afterwards, we'd be down to fielding a team of just Rafael and Rooney.

Apparently, Stoke , Fulham, Newcastle and Southampton are lining up to take him on loan . Really thought he would have been a part of the first team this season.
.

Southgate spoke about his frustration at not playing, which is understandable imo.

It's hugely frustrating given Young and Valencia are underperforming...again. Welbeck wide just doesn;t work for me.

Zaha is a player that could freshen us up a bit IMO. At least give him some time on the pitch to show what he is about.

I'm surprised he hasn't even had a sub appearance. Our current wingers have hardly been pulling up any trees this season.

Aye...even if it's the last 15 minutes. He's played so little competitive football now in months. Makes no sense at all.

The stuff about Moyes daughter has died down some. Not sure what to believe regarding that nonsense but true or not it's still amazing he hasn't figured.I hope he's on the bench Saturday and I won't be happy if he's loaned out but if he aint getting any then it makes sense, whilst making no sense whatsoever! I can't see Palace being very happy with the situation.

Why do people care so much about Palace? If they weren't happy with the deal, they shouldn't have let him go in first place. They got their money, so they can feck off.

we were always going to keep him at the club until January. It gives us a chance to have a closer look at him and probably put him on a specific training schedule. He will go on loan in January IMO. It still is kinda surprising he has gotten 0 minutes so far but there's probably something there we don't know.

Palace sold him to us. Their opinion doesn't matter.

I reckon a PL loan would be a great move. We knew it wasn't going to be easy to get game time in those packed wing positions, and we're Zaha's first premier league team. Regular playing time and a bit of experience elsewhere sounds just the ticket.

I felt there wasnt all that much difference in terms of excellent performance between Zaha and Adnan against Bolton in the reserves a couple of weeks ago. Both played well, looked dangerous and got a goal with Adnan maybe shading it and was since given his chance starting in the first team. I felt like they were almost competing for that spot, but given how Adnan grabbed his chance in the first team I think we could see another spot open up for Zaha to try and prove himself the same way, with the likes of Young and Valencia nearing the exit sign to give him that space.

I'm sure Moyes will have plans for him even if they take a little while to show themselves, with Januzaj being more of a focus early on and Zaha having to wait for his chance
