Wilfried Zaha - Sold to Crystal Palace

Really want him shipped out tbh, especially if Van Gaal intends on using him as a striker. He won't get the playing time required to develop as a striker. Not to mention that his work ethic is nowhere near enough (reportedly) for someone as raw as he is. Loan him out, hope he does well and then sell him off or sell him off now if a decent offer comes in.

Iirc his brother was throwing a few tantrums over him not playing and even gloated at Moyes getting sacked, safe to say that he's got trouble written all over him. Oh and Zaha himself posted the image of himself and Ole, with a further dig at Moyes. Yeah Moyes may have been a bit shit but he was his boss and Zaha showed absolutely no respect for him whatsoever, with all due respect Moyes had done more in the game than Zaha could ever dream of doing. Dread to think just how much of a tit he'd become if he actually started fulfilling that potential.

He turned up to his medical with us, in an Imogen Thomas t-shirt (for anyone that's forgotten, that wasn't too long after the Giggs scandal involving her), I think that about says it all.
And turned up at Heathrow for last year's tour wearing a tee shirt and ripped jeans.

“I am used to being a winger but if a manager wants me to adapt to a new position, then I will have to – and I don’t mind. To be honest, it’s not as much running as being a winger, so I will take it,”

Is that a genuine quote? Jesus wept. He's gonna be sent packing very soon with that attitude.

No it was Solskjaer and Holloway.

And Pearce (England u/21s)

I think there have been fair amount of questions about his attitude and getting overawed reportedly time and again to ignore and with managers too without them saying as much, but not sure Holloway or Solskjaer said anything overly damning in words.

Holloway has always praised him and even in the comments where he criticized one reported incident he called him a manager's dream praising him for his time at palace while Solskjaer said this -

Even Pearce seems to have been complimentary -

The Pearce quote was in March 2013. In June 2013 he was reportedly very unhappy at Zaha's attitude while with the u/21s at a tournament because he seemed to think he should be with the senior team in Brazil - presumably due to his having made his debut for the senior team some time earlier. It was at that tournament also that he got into an on-field spat with Morrison because he didn't like something Morrison had done.

If his attitude was as dire as some have suggested, then I doubt he would be on tour as the club would have already shipped him out. Giggs has already stated that he briefed LVG on the players during their meeting in Amsterdam. If anyone knows how to assess whether a winger has what it takes to make it at United, then surely Giggs does. Had Ryan condemned Zaha to LVG then surely Wilf would have been offered to Newcastle and the like by now.

"To be honest, it’s not as much running as being a winger, so I will take it.” Taken at face value, this quote doesn't seem too clever. However, it may have been meant wth a touch of humour, which is not conveyed in the written article. When players give interviews as infrequently as Zaha, it's easy to over-analyze what they have to say.

I genuinely never understood this signing. He never looked like anything more than a good talent, let alone a potentially £15m Utd youngster.

I assume if we let Chicha leave Zaha will be used as a striking option? How do people feel for him as a striker?

As great as that would have been, it wasn't actually her.

Yeah, that's true. There's also a media narrative underway about Zaha as some sort of feckless, lazy troublemaker. Once that's established every interview and rumour coming out of the camp will be distorted through that prism. For all we know, the more positive comments from Van Gaal about him working hard are all we need to know about his attitude.

In June 2013, there was the U21 Euros and he had a ankle injury going into it. There was only innuendo that he wanted to withdraw but he actually didn't and played for England even if he didn't seem fully ready, but it's not something new with English players once they get a Senior Call Up. Luke Shaw kept withdrawing from almost all U21 squads time and again with some excuse or the other.

That spat with Morrison happened a fair bit later under Southgate who reportedly had problems with his attitude.

I don't think he is the brightest simply bit like Rooney in a way, (while not having that much level of talent) plus at United he has gotten bit overawed to begin with as Holloway said in a big pond but don't think it is anything worth giving up on him yet. Moyes didn't seem to like him because he didn't work hard enough defensively i think. Remember Solskjaer mentioning he lacked in this area as well and needed to work harder at times on the pitch.

He's a golden opportunity right now but his attitude is all over the shop if these latest quotes are anything to go by and not going to make it.

Perhaps van gaal has seen something in Zaha, if he really starts churning out pretty damn good performances with the potential he has got, not only has he saved the club millions, but we would have a pretty damn good winger on our hands.

I don't really care what he say's in interviews or how he comes across in the media. As long as he performs on the pitch that is the main thing.

I really like Zaha and his actual attitude on the pitch. How many times, especially over the course of the last few seasons, have people cried out for one of our players to beat his man or provide some excitement down the flanks?

Januzaj last season proved that he gets bums off seats, I feel Zaha can do the same given the chance to do so. He has pace, power, trickery and is actually brave, in footballing terms, as he won't be put off if he makes a mistake.

Not a bad option to have either as a winger or as a striker (dependant on formation of course)

Was much better than i expected against Inter, but he needs to seriously up his finishing, from what i saw at Palace in in those rare matches here, finishing is not his strong suit, he wastes too many good positions, situations.

That was really bad from him. He seems to be good at running with the ball at pace, and rubbish at everything else.
I have a feeling we won't be seeing him much this season.

I can see the potential but right now he looks a mile away. Given the number of promising situations he had, I really expected more end product. Are there any PL sides that would want him on loan and actually play him regularly ?

He's miles away from being good enough atm, really sticks out like a sore thumb at this level.

He had one on one situations with defenders quite a few times and didn't beat any of them once, I found that quite suprising since essentially that is what he is supposed to be good at. Anyway doesn't look ready IMO, although its clear he does poses some talent, will probably benefit from going out on loan.

Huge show of faith to get the nod over Hernandez and Nani to come on for Welbeck, didn't do anything with it though. Personally I think we have way too much quality in his position for him to make it here, best hope for him is a loan this season rather than getting sold.

Not really a forward material yet, needs to go on loan and cut his teeth there.

His movement and effort was good for a makeshift Striker.

Needs to do better on the ball in dangerous situations though, but atleast he got into those areas and made space for himself with Pace and strength time and again.

There's definitely a player there. Won't mind Van Gaal keeping him as a impact sub and working on him.

He beat a couple with Pace and strength on seperate occasions to create space, but yeah didn't beat any on the dribble.

Sometimes he just needs to create bit of space and get the cross/pass/shoot away quickly using his acceleration and little change of balance rather than trying to skin defenders at this level completely.

It is the wingers that are the most under threat under LVG.

Players like Zaha and Nani don't seem to hav a natural position in the side.

Did he?

He was awful, and quite frankly if he gets any nod over hernandez up front in the up coming season ill be livid.

The boy\ is no centre forward thats for damn sure.

Hernandez is a completely different option to him for different situations/combinations.

I think he'll go out on loan again and actually Januzaj will play the sort of role he did today when Welbeck is out.

But there is definite potential there for LVG to use with Zaha.

He wasn't THAT bad, I agree he didn't have a good game but there's a noticeable difference in his attitude. He took people on many times despite things not really working for him and didn't hide. That aspect is more important for me in this kind of game than his actual performance. I still have hope for him.

Poor tonight. Reminds me of Nani when he first joined - poor decision making and end product, wanting too much time on the ball.

With the plethora of attacking options we have at our disposal, I can easily see him being sold or loaned out this summer.
