Wilfried Bony

Sky saying Liverpool are in advanced talks for him.

Obviously not in Suarez' class but reckon he can be a good signing if they can adapt their system for a less mobile striker up front. He can score goals and now he's settled ready to kick on to more too.

Wouldn't be at all worried if they got him. He's a decent enough striker but not sure how he'll fit in with the pacy, mobile attacking unit they had last season that was genuinely scary in full flight. Obviously you can't replace Suarez but surely they should be after someone with similar characteristics instead? They already have Lambert if they want to try something different.

While Arsenal and Chelsea worry us big time with Fabregas, Costa and Sanchez Liverpool just seem to be buying all of these 'meh' players while losing the 3rd best player in the world.

They're not going to replace Suarez with Bony.

It looks at the moment Liverpool are making the same mistake Spurs made in signing bunch of no-more-than-good/unproven footballers after letting go of a star player for hefty fee. I just don't know how all of their signings are going to fit in.

He doesn't excite me in the slightest. He'll score goals and provide a different option I suppose. I'm hoping it's him and Remy rather than one or the other.

Remy for me is clearly the better player and I'd be surprised if Bony is up to scratch at this level.

I think he'd score goals but not fit into the pattern of play, ending up being a bench player or someone they look to replace with a striker who scores as many goals but can also get involved in passing moves.

Agreed. Lambert is a similar build, but is much more technically gifted and well rounded. I'll trust Rodgers though.

He's a good player, not Suarez quality of course or even similar type of player but will get goals. Depends how he will fit in of course.

Is signing Bony, Remy AND Lambert all in the one window not slightly excessive? Heard that Borini will get a chance this year again too?

I'd bet on Borini going. Sunderland love him and I think we'll sell if we get £10m or so. James Pearce has said several times Rodgers wants 4 strikers so these rumours do make sense.

He reminds me of Benteke, strong, powerful, can hit a ball well but not all that good. I'll be happy if they sign Bony.

He's a better finisher than Benteke for me, Benteke has a marginally better all round game.

I'd say both are better than Lukaku right now.

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

I think Bony could be a good signing for Spurs though. They are woeful up front and are also lacking in numbers.

Taking Suarez and the number of goals he creates - either directly or otherwise - is going to place a pretty heavy burden on Sturridge, as Bony isn't going to offer much in that regard.

I think it'll fall more on Sterling's shoulders. He's going to be under a tonne of pressure next season.

Not sure you can just push the responsibility for creativity back down the pitch. Bony, from what I've seen is so much more static than Suarez. I presume they'll really have to alter the style to make it work with Bony in the side.

Lallana, Coutinho and Markovic can help too with creating chances to be fair.

Obviously Suarez' quality is a big miss though especially when the team is not playing well.

He is a good player but not sure any Liverpool fan can be happy with him replacing Suarez

Don't know why we'd go for him when we signed Lambert. Also Remy is better.

And neither is a proper first XI signing. Which is all that's left to sign up front once Markovic signs on the dotted line.

I'd disagree that Remy is better than him. Anyway, who else you can get who is better than either ?

Apparently we want both Remy and Bony. And Bony isn't that similar to Lambert.

I'm sure there are plenty we should be trying for before throwing our hands up.

I'd prefer Remy tbh, but he looks another one that's set to join Arsenal and the French contingent. He's a good player, but that's it just a good player that will cost a chunk of our transfer fee. It'll be another 20mill rinsed out of us from a stubborn chairman and a player we'll lose possibly for a month in January with the Africa nations cup that's coming round.

A stubborn chairman? They spent £12m on him a year ago and he just scored 25 goals for them. £19m would be a low valuation compared to what it could be.

Surely Bony is a terrible striker to partner with Sturridge - I don't see how that partnership would work?

Correct, I'll be pissed off if we get him because Sturridge and Lambert/Bony would be a terrible partnership. Really is concerning how poor our transfers have been so far, even though the majority of the fan base has convinced themselves we're doing well in the market.

His hold up play leaves alot to be desired for a top player. His finishing and aerial ability is top notch but he's only been in the Premiership for one season, it's hard to say whether last season was a true reflection of his ability. He could flop next season either at Swansea or Liverpool.

IMO Liverpool need to be aiming for a better player than Bony. With the prices quoted, it seems he's not going there to make up the numbers and he will be starting so I struggle to see how he would fit in their system. Rodgers must still have people at Swansea who he speaks too, and I know that they rate him very highly there and say the best is still yet to come.

If the rumour Bony has a buy out of £19m in his contract then he could be worth a go for Liverpool I think. He's no Suarez but it would leave a large portion of the £75m available for them to improve both full back positions and prob a centre back too. Hopefully Jenkins will drag his heels over an illegal approach and make things as tough as possible for them.

I like Bony but I don't think he'll fit in at Liverpool. I think we are a better match for him tbh, especially when we play our counter attacking football rather than focusing solely on possession football. He'll score 20 goals overall probably if he does go but I don't think they'd get the utmost best out of him and Sturridge. The reason Sturridge and Suarez worked so well is that they had a connection that few strikers can have together and both have to work as hard as each other and be fairly similar in style. I don't think Bony and Sturridge would. He's the type of striker that works best with someone like Ozil/Barkley/Mata etc behind him IMO.

Not really sure what Rodgers is trying to do here. Pool fans will soon find out that last season was more about Suarez than Rodgers.
