Who you wished Man United faced (easiest on paper) in Europa League play-off?

The idea of playing the best team to “give us a challenge” or “show how far we’ve come” is such nonsense. Give us the easiest team please, all the way. All that matters is winning the competition, nobody cares if you have easy or hard fixtures along the way, there isn’t an asterisk next to your name on the trophy that says “played the better teams along the way.” Every good team you play increases the chances of being knocked out of the competition. I can appreciate the desire for a big team because it’s a more exciting fixture, but we’re years without a trophy at this point.

We are guaranteed to draw Sevilla. They shouldn't even bother with the draw.

Chelsea away FA Cup round 3 so you can give that draw a miss as well.

I really, really don't care. Firstly, since I'll probably be at the home leg id much rather shell out £40 for a decent fixture than some nonsense. I am lucky, I have seen United win everything and win some huge games live at OT so I can't get excited about scraping through a few rounds of the Europa by beating inferior sides.

Of course I want to win the competition but unless you're City or Chelsea you can't seem to *by sheer luck* draw the worst team in the pot every round...might as well accept you're going to have to beat somebody good to win it at some point

I'd quite like to play Ajax, Barcelona, Juventus or Sporting.

The only team I am not keen on playing is Shaktar. Simply because of the flight time. Ajax, as well as the Ten Hag link, would be my preference just because Amsterdam to Manchester is a quick flight. We have so many fixtures. The less we travel the better.

Would like to see us knockout Barcelona. I don't understand wanting easy teams, we're United ffs not some tinpot club fearing the big boys

Does it really matter? We strive to be in the champions league every year where we will be playing these teams. Now that we have the opportunity we dont want to take it?

Doesn't matter who we get because we'd only face similar opposition in the Round of 16 anyway. We're actually making the competition easier by eliminating all the CL dropouts.

That being said, I'd prefer Shakhtar Donetsk.

Sevilla is shit this year but I'd still like the avoid them. Barca obviously the only team there that is actually a very good side and who would be favourites over us. The rest are meh, wouldn't mind any of them and we should be beating all of them 9 times out of 10.

I d take Ajax, Leverkusen, Salzburg or Donestk.

Dont want to play either Sevilla or Barca, but do not want Juventus with Pogba too.

Would be too good for him to eliminate us, so no thanks.

I really want to face Barcelona to be honest. Yeah it would be better logically to face them later in the tourney, but the Europa is such a boring competition and I'm just sick of facing teams like Sociedad and Villareal all the time. We haven't faced an exciting European team since we played PSG, that was over 2 years ago. I don't just miss the CL for all the money you get, I miss having the glamour ties in the second half of the season. Id much rather face Barca, Juve or Ajax than flipping Shakhtar Donetsk.

Barca, or failing that Juventus.

I've got a cup season ticket so will automatically get seats at OT and would rather watch us play them then another Europa level team (bear in mind what I've already sat through in the group stages...)

I get the desire for an easy draw, but we need to win this thing and we're almost certain to meet a big team in the final either way - may as well put one of them out now if we can.

The idea that Chelsea would get a Premier League opponent in the FA Cup 3rd round is hilarious.

I like your thinking which is different from most people.

This can be applied to world cup too when certain teams purposely lose or draw to avoid strong teams in the knockout stage.

Agree with this.

no point in playing 6 extra matches against weaker sides to fall in the semis against a big team.

if We can't win this , we need to focus on getting top 4 in the league.

Ajax under Megamind are a bit shite in Europe aren't they? I wouldn't worry about them personally.
Ah, but you're forgetting about the karmic rules of football.

1. A player will always score against his former club;

2. A "weaker" jilted club will always defeat the former manager's new club; and

3. A team rejected by a star player will always defeat that star player's team.

Hence we will lose to Ajax but beat Barca.

The team man City beat 3-1 with 3 or 4 youth players in starting line up? If city can do that then ten hag should be beating them with a strong 11
Of course we can beat them, but it would be another 180 minutes of antics, shitehousery and timewasting with a ref buying all of it

Hold your horses. We're good but no one can or should confidently say we're better than Barcelona right now. Juventus, Sevilla and Ajax are pretty decent too. Pretty sure we would've got dumped out of their UCL groups too.

Sevilla are having an absolutely horrendous season. They're in the relegation spots in La Liga and have only won 3 games out 18 matches in all competitions.

Don’t care, I’m completely bored with them, Villarreal, and every other slightly above average Spanish side.

Juve based on their CL and league form.
Wouldn't mind Ajax or Barca either.

How come city avoided all that, maybe we need to up our technical ability

Don't think it matters who we get. Somehow I can see us getting Ajax. It's something that happens in draws. I honestly think Barca will get one of the other sides UEFA love them .

Imo I think we could beat any of those teams over 2 legs, even better if we get a striker in January.

So were Atletico when we drew them in December and then they fecked us in February.

Hardly. They were in 4th at the time, it was only considered bad because they were champions and they had a 4 game losing streak that made it clear they weren't going to retain their title. Sevilla on the other hand are currently in 18th place in the league. Two entirely different scenarios.
