Who, with me, believes we can win the premier league?

3-4 players away (first team and squad) IMO from really challenging but that’s fine. I think we are comfortably the third best team in the league this season and baring the first two “getting to know you” cluster f*%k games without a lot of the new signings, we’d probably be in 3rd or even 2nd!

We’re consistent and disciplined and at the very least tou know know you’ll get a shift out of the 11 on the pitch. These foundations are so important and a top four finish (hopefully third) will be a great springboard with new owners for a real challenge next year

Either that or they come in, go nuts and buy Mbappe and sack Ten Hag for new flavour of the month manager.

A lot of people will call me an idiot but:

1. We’re 11 pts off top but it’s Arsenal. A young Arsenal team…
2. We’re 4 pts off 2nd
3. We’re definitely on consistently upward trajectory.
4. We have a proper United defense.
5. Casemiro-Eriksen-Bruno - Top midfield
6. Rashford
7. Antony and Sancho still to improve like Shaw, Rashford and Wan Bissaka
8. Identity in play style

We will fight. Top 4 is a modest expectation in my view.

I believe we can fight and can allow ourselves to want the crown. It feels that good right now.

"anything is possible" to some people but I can't see it happening. I'll just be happy if they manage top 4.

Winning it probably not but I fully expect us to compete for the prizes until the deciding months. Next year no excuses anymore.

This year, no.

Get Felix, a CM like Enzo/Frenkie/Nunes in and then I don't see why we can't challenge next year.

Not enough squad depth, we will suffer around March April

I don't think we la k swuad depth. We may only be light in a centre forward position but even ETH is intelligently playing Rashy there now. We have a squad that can match any team in the EPL.

We can but we won't. Not this year.

Top 4 finish should be deemed as a successful first season for ETH. More building required before a title challenge is mounted. And once at that level you want it to be sustained instead of falling away after one season and back to square one.

Beat City and who knows.
But massively unlikely, and we have our hands full trying to claw Newcastle in and stay above Liverpool.

It'll be earlier than that, possibly as early as this month. An injury to Rashford or Martial and we're screwed. Sancho getting back is essential just to get top 4, as is a decent loan forward.

We are a first-choice ST, a box-to-box CM and a competent keeper away at least. All of these can be fixed in the summer. Other than that, we also need better backup centre-backs, a refreshed Sancho and a lot of luck with injuries.

We just don't score enough goals and that's going to cause us to keep dropping points. I'm confident now we're at a point where we'll comfortably outplay most teams in the league, but we'll probably still get a lot of draws and undeserved losses by not being able to put the ball in the back of the net, that's what'll stop us getting near the top. Right now we're only really an injury to Rashford away from being unable to score at all.

I'll be more than happy with top four and I'm confident we'll do that.

I think our squad depth is a lot better than people suggest. All our summer signings have been players that were better than the previous first team regulars so lasts season's players are now our reserves. We clearly do still need a top quality striker and IF we can get one in, there isn't really anyone in this league we should fear!

DDG is more than competent. He's a top keeper.

I can accept people wanting a sweeper keeper which DDG isn't but let's not pretend he's some sort of average rubbish keeper who's lucky to have a career in football.

What's more there's few keepers about who isn't already tied up with top clubs who are better than DDG.

I don’t think we have a real chance, but I’m hopeful we could out up a real fight and see where it goes. Would be good experience for the younger guys and for those who signed for us because they wanted the challenge (Varane, Casemiro, etc.) It would send out a strong statement for future signings as well.

No I don’t think the squad is quite that good. We’re a bit short of goals so if there’s any dip in form from Rashford, we’ll dry up. If Casemiro gets injured we are close to being back to square one.

I know what the reactions to this may be, but I know I can't be the only believer here.

Casemiro yet to come, ETH building something big here, a manager who is not afraid to drop players and be flexible with tactics, City and Pool dropping points.

No one can stop us

Don't think so. We now have a clear and very good first XI, but the games will come with a frequency that means no one can play all the time, and which makes injuries certain. In most positions, we have a pretty significant drop-off in quality beyond those XI. We had more players than anyone other than City in the World Cup, and most of them went to the quarter finals or further. And in any case, I don't think we're there yet. I love what's emerging, but it's still being built.

a lot does depend on who we sign in January.

To be where we are in a very difficult time, losing Ronaldo (first to his physical decline and then the fiasco around it) as well as bedding in new players we have done extremely well. Ten Haag knows what this team needs to run. We still haven't seen the best of Antony and Rashford may go on to have the season of his life.

We're 4 points behind City. 11 behind Arsenal who could fall. I'm not giving up on the dream just yet. Luck has to go our way but some shrewd signings in January and I think we can give it a run.

I will be happy with being in the title chase come May, just don't want another season where your season ends months before the last game as you are 20+ points off the leaders.

Our time will come at some point might just take ETH a couple of attempts at it though.

I still feel we are always just 1 bad result away from undoing all the work because of the horror show that’s been the last 10 years
In the past it seemed once the target of winning the league became unrealistic our players weren’t arsed, now we’re fighting 1 game at a time and I hope we continue that way

If we get top four with this squad, this has been an outstanding season.

If United get taken over out the blue this month and quickly sign a top class striker, then United will win the league

But it won’t happen yet. I think next season will be United’s first proper title challenge since Fergie

We don't score enough goals simple, our current forwards, even Rashford are not putting in chances that a top striker would put it. As such we'll drop points, and we'll drop even more if Rashford is injured or needs to be rested.

I think it's hugely unlikely for a few reasons:

1. We are still missing a real striker and in some games we will end up drawing or losing due to not taking our chances
2. We are lacking squad depth. If Varane or Casemiro get injured the drop off is huge as this would mean playing the likes of Maguire, Lindelof, Fred and McTominay.
3. The quality of the some of the squads at the top is better than ours right now and they have a pretty significant points advantage already (Arsenal and City in particular).

If we can get top four AND find new competent owners who are willing to invest in the squad we may stand half a chance of challenging next season hopefully

Very grounded and sensible post, just wish we could pull a striker rabbit out of the hat to really throw a cat amongst the pigeons. However we definitely need some cover for Casemiro because will get injured knowing our bloody luck.

We are a bit unlucky in the sense that City and Liverpool haven't been their best but Arsenal have turned into prime city.

I did have a nibble at 66/1 in November as I thought 40/1 was probably closer but still very unlikely obviously.

To be fair, I think we'll be mounting a challenge as soon as next season. If we started this season properly and not dropped those two games, we'd be challenging right now. But we fecked up too many times and arsenal barely any.

Very true but then may not have signed Casemiro

I think now it depends more on Arsenal's incompetence than on our competence

7 pts loss from the 2 draws vs Chelsea, Newcastle and the Villa loss ended that prospect unfortunately. Especially the draws when we were clearly the better team.

90 pts is probably the least we can get away with to win the league. Means we need to get 58 from a possible 66. 2 more losses and 1 draw, aint happening

We can win it next year if we get mega rich owners and blow away all the other clubs in the transfer market...but where would be the fun in that.

Felix is the guy who has elite potential, and then up to ten hag to get it to click. He can play on the left with Rashford through the middle or Felix up top coming deep... We would also need Antony/Sancho to step up and show their worth.

This season, it's unlikely. Dropped too many points and Antony is still learning.

It's any team's belief. When Leicester won the league, it showed when you keep the belief, you can win the league.

This is a fecking jinx of a thread, burn it to the ground.

This is a typical Fan forum, what do you expect. Just a few months ago we have this thread "we can never win the league with Bruno..."

After 2 straight wins, then fan will chant bring on Barca, City, we can beat them all, until the next loss... then someone would shout sack the manager, sell half the squad...
