Who replaces Ten Hag?

It's a bit telling when multiple managers have said: 'They aren't doing what I asked them to do'. Eth, Ole, Rangnick and Mourinho have all made similar statements. However, I don't believe Eth is good enough either.
Mourinho always blames the players when things go wrong though and most of that team is not here anymore or weren't even first team players under him, they played the way ole wanted to do but he could not tactically make us work as a possession team and admitted ronaldo messed things up dramatically with our pressing, poor ralf was completely screwed as interim and that was largely down to ronaldo again who was absolutely toxic in undermining our managers

And be subjected to another 8 or so years of Rashford's boom and bust form killing our progression every other season? We have to remember that it's no longer the Glazers calling the shots it's INEOS and guys like Berrada and Ashworth would have seen, from outside, how damaging these guys can be. Don't be shocked if we accept a bid for Rashford in the summer or allow a manager to freeze him out next season.

What killed Ten Hag or will eventually do so is his tactical ineptitude and naivety, poor in-game management and abysmal recruitment. When we went into last season under-prepared and Rashford hit a purple patch, Ten Hag postponed team progression and exploited that form to achieve the minimum which allowed him to survive his first season. You can't play a risky style as he does with turnover magnets like Rashford and Bruno in the team. If we want to properly rebuild we need to move on from them, yes they can win you games to fight to CL football but their joint lack of intellect, tactical discipline and, in Rashford's case, commitment will drag any team down. Watched Liverpool v City, we will never have players calm and disciplined enough to fight off City like Liverpool did or remain collected during the second half Liverpool onslaught, I know we earned a point there a few weeks back, but I am sure you understand what I mean.

That's all?

Ole didn't get to execute his plan properly because the players didn't want to run, we were still being outrun by lesser teams during Ole's time here. When he took over one of the first things he said was I want us to run more than all the other teams and be more robust, the players didn't respond to this. They still aren't doing it under Eth either.

Hopefully things change under Ineos but I think this is simply excuses of poor managers.

Every few years another manager comes in & waxes lyrical about what changes they will make. They all took the job knowing it was under Glazer rule so it was pretty clear what a clusterfeck they were coming into.

By the end of each of their times here each manager wasn’t simply unlucky, falling short of winning titles but were missing lowered expectations.

They then leave & all say the same thing but how many of them reflect on themselves? These squads are not title winning but in general none of these managers have been asked to win titles by the time they’ve left but be competent.

This EtH reign has been a clusterfeck on so many levels but not everything wrong has been done to him.

I know you’ll find this hard to believe, but shockingly no, I haven’t. :D
I have coached quite a bit. The amount of progress you can make with almost any kind of team is amazing if your training reflects tactics that you will face during a game.

If, for example, you need to learn to play out of a high press, you have several drills to mimic that exact tactical problem. You can actually get 12 year olds to one-touch their way through that high pressure. If 12 year olds can do that, why can’t top professionals? Watching Ange transform that Spurs team shows it can be done, even at the highest levels.

To me, this is just coaching. Period. And I don’t think Ten Hag is good and installing his ideas, what ever those may be…

Without a DoF i dont even know how we will decide who to appoint as the next manager.

Seems like Nagelsmann is up for club football again.

That was expected. Surprising was only how clearly he voiced how he dislikes the working conditions of a national team coach in that same press conference (too little time to train and work on tactics etc)

Well you bring in players who can, counter attack is good and under Fergie and Ole it was pretty effective but the difference was that the former did have it but he was able to control games when needed and win ugly when needed. Ole did well in his first two seasons but got a few things wrong going into the third one.

So you can't determine the direction of a whole club on the strengths of 3 players. There is a reason we are never challenging for titles, we play to the strengths of a few players then we have just one or two players scoring more than 20 per season and then compare that against City's and Liverpool's teams, they spread their goals amongst 3 or 4 attackers.
Fergie wasn't a counter attacking manager? Sure, he used the tactic occasionally, but he was an attacking football manager first and foremost. This rewriting of Fergie has to stop.

I’m not saying this person should be the next Man Utd manager but after watching them play this season I just love the way they play, keep their shape, pass the ball and the movement of the players.
I give you Coventry City and their long serving manager Mark Robbins, his team look far better set up than United have been this season and what a match it was yesterday.
He has certainly learned his trade and talks very well.

I know it’s only Ogden but it’s concerning this rumour just isn’t going away.

I don't think Southgate is that guy either, but he'd be more respected if had done the same job with Germany/Spain/The Netherlands.

A lot of people are still put off by that spell at Middlesbrough early in his career.

It'd certainly be a massive risk by Ratcliffe.

I seen this in the DM this morning but did not repeat it as i don't think its deserves the oxygen. The only way i would welcome him at Utd is as a new Fred the Red and only then under the condition that the current lad is voluntarily retiring.

I hope England get bombed out of the Euros in the group stage in humiliating fashion to put to bed any notion that Southgate is an elite manager.

Ten Hag may not be the solution but good god Southgate sure as hell isn't

Ineos consistently seem linked with underwhelming managers. Might actually prefer one of their cycling guys to Southgate

Southgate? Really? :D The most overrated manager!
I will be INEOS out if that happens!

I am dreading this, each time I see this rumour I pray we get some news rebuffing such a rumour, because it would be a mistake we can ill afford to make at this stage in our progression.

Even the shattered remains of Jose's career would be better than fecking Southgate
There are so many managers I'd rather take than Southgate. I cannot believe any serious person would want him.

I just read that Southgate is tipped to be first choice if ETH is shown the boot and honestly I’d rather be managed by Jamie Carragher than let Southgate anywhere near the managers office.

Why would you carefully bring in all these expert back office types to then finish off the project with the most uninspiring manager to ever walk the face of the earth. It would be like painting everything in grey. Grey carpet, grey walls, grey furniture, grey everything. Just no…. Groups need to get on Twitter and make it known nobody wants him near United.

I'm with you on that.

Ashworth reportedly a big fan. Sometimes the caf doesn't always know best.
Based on what? No other reporter is corroborating the same and it's easy to make lazy FA links to grab headlines.

Also whilst accepting the caf isn't always right, the almost unanimous opinion that Southgate is a terrible idea would suggest he probably would be shite.

Southgate is probably the best name to mention if you want a lot of clicks and a horde of riled up United fans.

I'll be concerned if reputable sources start linking him to the job as well.

Judging by Ratcliffe's comments today in which he was praising Arsenal for giving Artetta time, I think this is just media stirring the pot.I expect INEOS will be patient with ETH, but of course if we lose quite a few games between now and end of the season even with injured players coming back, they might want to move in a new direction either partway through next season or in the summer.

I think you are right, its almost as if the media had these stories ready to go working under the assumption Liverpool beat us on Sunday. Now they decide to run this sh^!e anyway. I don't know anyone who could get excited about a scenario of Southgate arriving.

Not a chance.

Southgate will get another contract from the FA for doing well and being very unlucky this summer.

Zero possibility any top 10 side (bar West Ham) would have him as their manager.

Yeah I mean this kind of stuff sells which is why they put it out there. Notice how Ogden says 'if Ten Hag loses his job', that in itself is speculative.

Where can I see his comments today?

With the euros close yes, in England he would be biggest clicks. Smart way for United for people all over England to think about United.

On RAWK they find all his footballing accomplishments thus far as underwhelming. They don’t even want him top 3 or 5.

They’re convinced Xabi is going to them, although I don’t think they realize it’s his audition for the Madrid job. No idea why they think they would beat Bayern for his signature and I didn’t see De Zerbi on a lot of their list.

I wouldn’t be surprised if De Zerbi ends up here

Go on youtube to see comments all the Utd fanzine channels have it

And his utterly abysmal U-21 record.

The man has been repeatedly rewarded for underperforming.
