Which new goalkeeper would you want to sign?

Now I lost hope with this guy after I seen the Liverpool game. But my Leeds mate assured me Mesiller will be France’s number 1 in the next few years. Maybe we just take a chance with him and get an experienced head behind him.

There should be no competition for him.

Which top teams need a new keeper? That's the big question.

Real - No
Barca - No
Arsenal - No
City - who knows - maybe
Liverpool - no
Bayern - Maybe
Chelsea - Maybe
Juve - No
AC - No
PSG - No

Should pretty much get a free run at him.

City don't need a new one.

I think we should be going for Meslier from Leeds longer term. If they go down we'll be able to pick him up cheaply.

Physically commanding, and good with his feet, still only 23 and has got nearly 120 premier league games in the bag.
I think he's dreadful

Dunno if we’re gonna get a top keeper for next season, as we desperately need a ST and I think that takes most of our budget. 70m plus will be spent on a ST.
This is still my position. I just think we re sign him and look again next summer and I'd be ok with that if we get a top class no.9 that scores 2 of the maybe 10 shots we had last night.

Believe me he's a championship level keeper at best.

I am from Leeds and have loads of mates that are regulars at elland road and they can't stand him. He's cost them a ridiculous amount of games this season from errors or general stupidity. Everything he does causes panic he's basically the keeper version of mmaguire. They were happy that he was dropped finally.

And he won't ever be France number 1 I'm certain.

Whatever about how good he might prove to be in the long term, right now Meslier needs to focus on getting back in the Leeds team. He should be nowehere near discussion for a top side now, if he ever will be.

Agreed.

Meslier it seems was the target for the previous head scouts (Bout & Lawlor). I think it'll be interesting to see the direction Jose Mayorga will steer us in now that he's been given the authority at the top of the recruitment chain and has replaced the likes of Bout and Lawlor.

Meslier has not really progressed as expected in my opinion and can’t blame it all on his team mates. His concentration just looks off.

Meslier is about as commanding as one of those inflatable tube men.

Never rated him and the next player I will speak of but purely playing devil's advocate, he could have a potential Ramsdale-like evolution.

I was really surprised by the latter because I thought he was trash all the times I saw him play.

Edouard Mendy …..yet to sign new contract.

Top keeper imo.

Judging by this season alone, Kobel and Costa would be my two candidates. Over the span of more than that, Costa and Maignan. I'd however keep De Gea for one more season rather than parting ways, as on a good day, he's still world class, and I guess the staff will find a way to know when is a good day.
Least I can say is he doesn't deserve the Cristiano exit.

True that, quite young to be honest. It’s a matter of growing as a player but hard to do when you fighting against relegation.

Go for Neuer. He might be tempted and will give you 2-3 years more highest level.

Strangely enough, that was my thoughts when the story broke up that he fell out with the hierarchy at Bayern after they sacked Toni Topalovic, the GK coach who he worked with for 11+ years.

For a cut price I would take him for his personality alone, despite his years, and, of course, if he manages to fully recover after a leg break.

Maignan seems to be the name on everyone's lips now.

I'm not particularly sold on Raya.

Not seen any of the other linked names play bar Meslier...who would be more of the same so absolutely no thanks.

I trust Onana more than any other realistic option. Seems to be talk about him being available for €40m which is a bargain for him (not as much as if we just got him for free last summer but anyway). I also do like Raya and he should be cheap with only 1 year left on his contract. I hear a lot of hype behind Costa but any time I've watched him he's been poor and made a lot of mistakes. Still young but definitely not finished priduct yet from what I've seen imo. I've heard good things about the young Reims keeper Yehvann Diouf and his stats look amazing but I haven't seen enough of him to give a fair assessment.

A lot here saying Maignan but I imagine he'd be very expensive. We definitely don't have the luxury of spending big on a gk with our need to upgrade striker, cm and rb first

I have changed my mind about Raya. I don't think he's worthy to sign. There is some inconsistency within him. Diogo Costa is better value at younger age if it's true he's available for 40m-45m pounds.

Yeah absolute bargain

No way we're keeping DDG and getting a top emerging GK like Diogo Costa. I suspect we'll get an old timer on loan as a meek back-up. ETH still seems to trust DDG fully.

Well Erik is still not going to be able to fully implement his style for another season,so maybe needs to think about that before keeping Dave

I like Gavin Bazunu. I have seen him play for Portsmouth, Southampton and Ireland.

• Fast learner.
• Likes to do his pre-match homework.
• Sweeper keeper.
• Premier League experience.

Diogo Costa is the one. Could see him having a transformative impact on this team similar to what Allison and Ederson had on theirs.
His long passing is terrific. Wouldn’t be so easy to press us when he can 9/10 times land a pass at the feet of the fullback / winger.

Maignan would be my first choice with Costa second. This is assuming price isn't an issue of course.

If it is just then just go with Henderson or another cheap option for a year. It will not be worse than the guy we currently have in goal.

I actually think we need two GKs as I just don't see a place for DDG as a number 2. I like Diogo Costa and Onana and Raya and Robert Sanchez look like good shouts from the PL. But if we are working with a budget, how about Keylor Navas? we could pick him up for free I think and they really don't come more experienced than him- and he now also has PL experience. If we pick up him up alongside a younger goalie to take over after a year or two, it could be a good piece of business.

Bottom 1% Percentile for save percentage and PSxG-GA (post shot expected goals + goals against).

Not at all ready for us.

Looks like Southampton have finally dropped him. He's really struggled this season with stopping basic shots. Which I was surprised by because for Ireland and Portsmouth he was really good in this regard. Other than that he has everything else you want in a keeper.

If no promising or established ball playing keeper is available, I'd take Navas as a stop gap.

I wouldnt read to much in to Eriks statement regarding Dave. We still have important matches to play, now is not the time to shake Daves confidence.

I'd love this. He's commanding, proven (-ly good) in PL and International stage, and a bit of a cnut with big personality.
No he's a bit of a clown. I don't believe he will cut it at a top club because of that inconsistency and moments of madness.

Hmm.. when did these moments of madness happened? You make it sound like he did it regularly. Inconsistency is just a matter of opinion. Is Alisson or Ederson always consistently good in your opinion?
