Where are the United incomings?

You don't count what he did at West Ham? I don't get it.

So do you want Lingard as a central midifielder? Otherwise I am not able to understand in what way Lingard is a replacement for Fred or how his role for West ham solves our midifield issues.

I’ve a suspicion that we are the unnamed PL team that had a 30m bid turned down for Douglas Luiz
Doubt it. We would've known it was us at this point. United are a open book at the minute. Everyone know our business.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was City.

We are run by incompetent idiots, so nothing surprising here. All we hear is January is difficult bla bla bla, yet our best buy in recent history was done in January. Juve buys the top scorer of the league in Italy, Liverpool go and but a 50m winger from Porto when they already have Mane and Salah, but not we can't find a better midfielder than Fred and McT.

yes but the people they want aren’t available this window.

Nonsense. Kamara, Kessie, Brozović available for free in the summer but you're telling me we can't go for one right now? Guimaraes who genuinely looks like a brilliant defensive midfielder and exactly what a top team needs, but is going to Newcastle for 40m? There's loads of options we could get now, and in the summer we could well have just Fred and McTominay in our squad. Not going for high potential/very good players at good ages on free or cheap deals when we have to sign multiple players is just bad process.

Rashford s contract will end in 2023 (1.5 years left) and looks like PSG are keen

Whats your take on that if he doesnt extend his contract by summer and PSG comes up with 100M offer.

if we are losing Rashford then its worth focussing on players like Luiz

I think it was Spurs

We already have |Rashford / Elanga /Sancho who can play on left so I am not sure if we are keen on this guy
He’s talking about Luiz the Aston Villa midfielder

I think we should balance the long-term and short-term. Buying a DMC for 20m won't hamper our long-term financials too much, but it would significantly enhance our chance of getting a top4 place, which is crucial for us in many aspects(financials, appointing new manager, recruiting new players).

Shambles again. Kamara or Zaharia available for under 10m which we have recouped in loan fees. Newcastle buying a quality midfielder for 40m. Barcelona who last year were at rock bottom already look way more ambitious. We’re doomed.
Maybe we’ll have an excellent summer.

We should plan and execute on the players we need and can get, and not on what we want. I am sure we all want Mbappe and Haaland, but we can't get them. Same should apply to Rice, Billingham or whoever. We go ahead with this current options in midfield we won't finish in top 4 for sure and make our future deals even more difficult.

And it's not like we need only one player in midfield and can't use for example Kessie or Kamara even if we go for a preferred target in the summer.

It pretty depressing that we haven't brought in a midfielder, there is bound to be a D.M out there somewhere we could have got in, even on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season if they don't want to be signing any players before the new manager is announced. Other teams seem to have no issues.

I hope to think if Palace can cover VdB's wages it will prompt us on Kamara. If he's genuinely available for £10m it'd be silly not to sign him, even if he ends up just being a good squad player that's more than what VdB is for us.

Exactly but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Were people really expecting any incomings with an interim manager? Reason Martial and potentially VDB are going on loan is so next permanent manager can make a decision on players himself, so in that sense, why would Rangnick get to buy someone who the guy hired in the summer might not fancy?

Club have option to extend, so not really 2023. No idea why anyone would think Marcus is going to leave United to go to Ligue 1

If the club have decided on who they want, then they should be able to get some prior notifications on potential targets. City were planning for Pep long before he got there.

Been away for a day, missed loads I assume? We've surely signed multiple midfielders by now???

It’s not necessarily the case that Ralf would drop Pogba, Fred or McTominay if we brought in a midfielder now. Pogba is expected back soon and Ralf seems quite pleased, arguably thrilled, with his other central midfielders. I’m not, but we’ve all seen Ralf praise them effusively. Possibly a headfake, but maybe not.

Yes, but we know the club hasn’t decided on who they want yet. Ok not the best planning, but given the circumstances, to think we’d be buying someone this window is dreamworld, imo.

Do we? When was that statement released?

Maybe not officially, but all the reports have been along lines of “we’ll start the search in March” followed by “search on hold as board impressed with rangnick”. So all the noise suggests no plan yet in place. Plus it’s our board, when was the last time they had a plan in place?

If that's remotely true then I'd bite their hand off if they offer anywhere near that much. Rashford is not a £100million player nor will he likely ever be IMO.

With the uncertainty around who will be manager this summer, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll land a big name over the next few days.

We've been scammed ... in addition to Pogba coming back, moving on Martial, Lingard, and van de Beek gives us four 'it's like a new signing's.

Especially if we get the few quid for Lingard after all, wages freed up from Martial, VdB.

Buy a player who is immediately better and available than McFred who long term may end up being a good cover player like Hadara or Zakaria. I don't see an issue with this. Ultimately will need lads when Mata, Matic etc. are all gone next summer.

Have some patience buddy, we are doing right things by spotting the weak links to get rid and i am sure if we are keen on players like kamara/Zakaria we could have contacted them by this time

We never know if these players got better deals in summer but I trust Ralf here as he knows what we need and we are UTD and i am sure we can still attract top talent

This.

To hell with who we want; it's all about who we need. Right now, we need a defensive midfielder before we start pushing on 3 fronts in the upcoming weeks. Our depth will be tested, and it's obvious that we don't have enough tools in midfield to ensure such push on 3 fronts. I don't care one bit about Rice and Billingham either; haven't we learned anything with Sancho thus far?

As for Haaland, I'm growing colder week after week on his case. Honestly, I wouldn't mind hijacking Arsenal to get Jonathan David as means to replace Edinson Cavani down the road in the summer.

I’m holding out a grain of hope that, for once, we’ve been working furiously behind the scenes to bring in a DM for midfield cover.

The lack of news compared to previous windows is worrying, but then again, with Ed gone and Arnold in, maybe the leaks have been plugged? There wasn’t much chatter on Ole’s replacement before it was actually confirmed by the club, was there?

So Liverpool comfortably ahead of us in the table are set to sign another attacker. We have a bloated squad yes, but the incompetence continues where we can't even sell off Lingard and gave odd extensions to players like Mata and Matic the last year. You can argue that we need 3 new midfield signings when you consider Pogba and VDB might be gone and that generally we needed to add more quality regardless. Rangnick has a history of identifying talent and I doubt any new manager would not want to work with a midfielder he signed. Kessie, Zakaria and Kamara all on the last year of their contracts and all attainable. We saw the transformative effect Bruno had in January, a quality midfield signing could do the same. I really hope the club isn't obsessed with signing Rice, no need, if you can identify cheaper talent elsewhere.

These players elsewhere with contracts expiring in the summer are no different to Lingard and Pogba. They're very unlikely to move now permanently when they can make more money by waiting a few months.

You can buy Kamara and Zakaria for a combined 15-20m, but United dont think they are all that
