Yep, his footballing IQ was pretty underrated. He went from a high flying winger to a playmaker in central midfield, and that transition was made in his, what, early/mid 30s. Most footballers were retiring by the time he completely reinvented his style of play, and most can't reinvent themselves in general. Certainly not at the level Giggs did it at.
Remember, he was probably the best player on the pitch in the 1st half of our home game against Madrid in 2013. He would've been either 38 or 39 by that point. It was incredible watching it live.
I was only half listening whilst doing something else, but i think they brought up how he got stick for being wasteful in possession at times during his later years, and he held his hands up by saying he should've played it more like a chess match or something by that point. I'll have to listen again but that was interesting.
